A way to keep the status of exclusives.
To make the decision 3 years after the release of some exclusives to make them all free completely takes away the fact that people use them as status symbols or to show their love for their main character. To fix this I propose that current exclusive owners should be given legacy versions of the exclusives with the legacy effect on so that they can still be proud instead of just being assumed to be a player using the free exclusives like everyone else, I think this would be a great idea and would fix the problem of current exclusive owners feeling like this new patch will be a slap in the face to them.

No. No legacy effects. I think the best you can hope for is your cosmetic remains pink rarity while everyone else gets yellow or whatever.

This completely disregards the reason they're making it free for everyone. No. More. Exclusives. Period. Just stop, okay? It really does not matter at all. It just means nothing more to gloat about.
Heres the likely end all be all by Peanits.

If they didn't want any why make them, they shouldn't make the players suffer for their poor decisions.

"Use them as status symbols."
Cosmetics should not be status symbols, there's no reason something like this should exist ONLY for the sake of getting joy out of other people missing out. It's cruel, it's unnecessary, and thankfully it's going out the window. ESPECIALLY something like this that was a matter of attending an event in a specific country, that's frankly ridiculous.
"or to show their love for their main character"
Which now, many more people will be able to do in the same way.
The only people who suffer from this change are selfish people who only see value in something because they can lord it over other people not being able to have it. Good riddance.

Imagine if CSGO just released the M4 howl and vanilla karambit in a new case, the entire community would not have it and they would have to not go through with it, I really just don't understand how this community sees exclusives so differently to just any game. If League of Legends released all the PAX skins and Rusty blitzcrank to make it fair for new players and give them a chance to use the skins everybody would have none of it. I could just go on and on because this is the only game where the community is fine with it because there is a larger number of new players compared to older players that would have had a chance to get the exclusives. Its just a case of outnumbering and its ridiculous.

Haha "status."
It is a video game.
13 -
I understand where you’re coming from; but that really defeats the entire purpose they’re giving everybody these exclusives.
4 -
Wow, it's amazing how you used different examples of other video games and the point still stands that exclusive cosmetics are dumb, and that removing them is a great change.
5 -
It really doesn't, all of their reasons contradict each other so nobody knows what the real reason is but them. if it was to stop code selling and scamming they would include hype nea, ohmwrecker and bloodletting but they haven't so it won't really stop selling and scamming just make the prices of those skins higher? If it was to give console players the skins why not just release the skins on console. If it was because they voided everyone's event skins then just give the event skins, they won't give a clear reason that doesn't contradict itself.

Literally only the dbd community thinks this and its not even the whole community, you are in the minority of opinion on exclusives yet you still think you're right?
1 -
Nope, just that selfish players who like to hoarde exclusive crap are the most vocal ones when it comes to changing them.
Other games also encourage that attitude because most of them profit immensely from expensive exclusives, especially games like CSGO which use Valve's own marketplace so the company can never lose.
BHVR is able to make the change because all of these transactions are separate from the company and the game, so they aren't earning money off people creating a toxic, exploitative marketplace of their own.

I keep seeing players say that devs should give out something special for those who already own these cosmetics, and while I understand the desire for that, I think it's missing one of the main purposes of doing this. There have been a lot of people losing cosmetics from their inventories. This is going to help deal with that. If devs give out a new exclusive cosmetic, it's going to be something else that devs will have to individually look into each time it goes missing from someone's inventory. Because it will. The game is buggy like that.

Your still gonna be able to use them. Your still gonna have them. And your still gonna be able to brag to people that you got it before everyone else.
I grinded for the summer bbq cosmetics and they are being released but I don't care because I'll still be able to use the cosmetics.
I'd suggest stop complaining about the cosmetics being free now, they did it to stop people from being scammed and having to not deal with massive reports of missing cosmetics.
You didn't grind for them, and you went to a convention. (Other than the event cosmetics)
It's getting annoying about how many posts saying that this is a bad idea when it's not.
As a console player I think we should be able to have the cosmetics too.

they said they can’t include those ones cause they were apart of arrangement with those certain kinds of ppl they don’t have permission to give those out
0 -
Yeah but still wouldn't their desire to crush the "evil" re-sellers making profits from their products overwrite that? or do they not care about fully stopping re-sellers just as long as most skins are out of circulation?
0 -
they are probably gonna wait till they can get permission form those companies/people to give them out
0 -
Maybe.

All this crying over pixels. No one earned them, you did colorful gens/hooks, the horror! Convention skins? You payed for the convention, not the skin. Like it or not, BHVR has decided to share the skins with everyone, including console :)
5 -
They can't release ones which are tied to a contract without permission. That is not to say they haven't tried but it's not something they can just do.
The bloodletting one had a monetary value attached since you had to buy something from the store to get which could constitute false advertising.
It's always better to try and do something to stop the scammers than nothing at all.
Every skin being released was just about someone's time whether it was going to the stand at a show, playing in an event or spending time on a website for a giveaway.
There are also a lot of people who have lost the skins due to the older system and how they were stored and can't get them back due to that.
4 -
Then are you seriously suggesting you want to keep the black market alive?
A market that can sell something like Golden Feng for over 1000 dollars?
3 -
Yes.
0 -
Had they just left the situation alone there would have been no codes to sell in time since they only gave out a finite amount, and they choose just as there are no codes left for a lot of the skins to release them all.
0 -
Then you're seriously misguided in thinking that DIGITAL PIXELS costs over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
6 -
Its not a bad thing its the fact that there's no compensation for people that had them before.
0 -
There are csgo skins worth over 3k, this is hardly as bad.
0 -
You don't need compensation. You have the skins, that's all. Why do you want more? You should be happy they even gave away the skins in the first place
0 -
They shouldn't have given away the skins in the first place.
0 -
And we all know how terrible and predatory that market is.
2 -
How do you justify console never getting even half of those skins cause they where either linked to Steam or the console dbd didn't exist?
2 -
As are all markets in the whole world, do you suggest the whole world just stops trading and selling things between eachother?
2 -
I'm not getting into this.. But if you can't see why a skin being sold for over a thousand dollars is ridiculous I can't help you..
4 -
If someone wants to pay 1000 its their choice, why does that affect you?
0 -
DBD's approach to exclusives has been horrible and the recent revelation won't change the way exclusives are in other games and the dbd community that hate exclusives and think they are bad will never change the way gaming culture is so you can keep crying about exclusives but your game is the only one that will ever do this.

Making legacy exclusives would fix the problem of codes being sold if the exclusives are all given out which is what Behaviour claim their main reasoning is whilst also honouring people that owned the skins before. What all you are doing is making this about hating exclusives and wanting all exclusives banned forever. Exclusivity is a lucrative marketing tactic almost all companies use to increase the sales of their products - e.g mcdonalds coming out with limited time food ranges and supreme having limited time one time only clothing drops. Exclusivity is in all markets everywhere and just a part of them all.
0 -
You're not wrong but i'm not angry because people are getting them for free, the concept of an exclusive item is not hard to grasp and they're obviously going to be resold as all skins given as codes are but the devs would have known this.
0 -
I'm pretty sure you'd feel otherwise if you hadn't spend money on them but BHVR didn't tell you to spend your money on them that was your choice, you should know things are always subject to change.
0 -
I would not feel otherwise, I got 2 exclusives in a giveaway and would have had the exact same opinion.
0 -
Believe what you want though gamer.
0 -
legacy...maybe you gone too far but yes, what devs did not even close to right
includes me many people can earn free exclusive items of course most people agree about this
because of population of doesn't having them,i learned this is ideal of communism
most people get them free but devs problem is not even that for me,
the real problem is before even community fight agans each other
devs already ignored their time limited grinds and events or invited players to locations,
and saying the only reason is they concerned even fewer users scammed at future or reselling is problem because its unofficial
but as i know i see code sellers existed 2years+ at ebay, and those codes are all given unlimited time to use, they could already expected that million years ago and always possible to noticing them before
what a lazy excuses, and peanit said bad about that, considering length of being "exclusive" they already done worth , but i think thats not the devs part to judge, their event involved players(pre-owners) should judge if they respect any of them
and of course most of them will not agree, because devs announced we nothing to give for them
so i know this is hot potato but just ignore free earning players like me because they just happy and rage agans rich kids in game like you, pity them and also i pity you from this happen

Thank you.

Well the console version runs pretty well and has alot of players so the stats say otherwise. The fact that the devs are giving skins to console also shows otherwise. Argue all you want, I'm getting those skins and I'm gonna love playing as Hound Huntress

Most online gaming communities have many people that hate exclusives...
3 -
And they're all objectively wrong for doing so since society thrives off of exclusivity.
