4 Man Swf

How often do you guys actually go against an optimal 4 man swf? Because every time I see anyone talking about swf they make it seem like every game is a tryhard 4 man swf with flashlights or toolboxes. The few times I have gone against a 4 man swf they were just farming and sandbagging each other.

I get to go against SWF pretty often in purple or red ranks, but maybe, just maybe, it has to do with how good of a killer you actually are with the killer you're using, I've played against the same SWF party and I owned them with Freddy and Trapper, but couldn't do S with Clown and Pig against them

And the other half of the community always attempts to undersell how powerful SWF groups are while getting 4 mans escapes every time they play in one. :P

Well, yes, there are those people too. The ones who run 4 Decisive Strike and use it in a way that it's completely broken then argue "no this is completely fair."

I still rarely face them myself, though, most 4 man SWF squads I face are playing for a giggle.

For the times I've played against SWF they usually screw up due to over-confidence and extreme altruism, I do believe it is pretty rare to find those really optimal teams. It takes too much time invested in the game to be that good, and you could always attempt to find first the weakest link of said team.

Soon as you start snowballing, they panic.

Depends on the rank. I consider "optimal 4 man swf" to mean at least one OoO, 4 DS, BT, etc. I run into them a few times each night at red. I have the names memorized at this point. They always tend to play together in the same groups. It's usually a loss unless they decide to goof off. Survivors are insanely hard to sacrifice when the group manages hook states and second chance perks.

SWF for me are either super cocky altruistic kids or complete jokesters, sandbag, flashlight dancing, etc.

Just so that there is no misunderstanding, when balancing any game, the frequency in which you face 'the best of the best' doesn't matter. What matter is understanding what 'the best of the best' is capable of (to determine the skill ceiling), and making sure it's not too powerful or too weak against other 'best of the bests.'

So at the top of the skill cap on both sides, each side should have an average of 50% win rate after many trials (for most two sided pvp games). In DBD's case, when the best players of a killer (any killer, whether it's the Nurse or the Trapper) go against the best 4-Man SWF gen-rushing groups, on average, they should end up with 2 kills.

Once the skill ceiling has been determined to be balanced on both sides, that is when the developers can start balancing from top to down. But that has more to do with at what rate players are able to reach the skill ceiling of the characters, as well as ranking and matchmaking.

Of course, over-altruistic groups and groups that are trolling each other would not count as 'the best of the best,' so should never have any effect on the game's balancing decisions. After all, why should trolling groups have an equal chance of winning as a killer who is trying their best to win?
