Apparently, this was a bug.
- "Fixed an issue that caused Survivor ranks to be visible in the online lobby to other Survivors. Please note currently you can see character and prestige level, and we are working on a fix for this."
Are the devs seriously going to take this information away from us? As a solo survivor, this information is very valuable to me.
What do you all think about this?

they should not remove it , I'm not trying to play with a swf with one survivor in purple ranks and the other two in gray

It's ironic that the best features the devs added to the game were "bugs".

I think everyone just assumed this was a feature because it was helpful and made sense (particularly in terms of the move to give solo players the same level of information as SWF currently get). Last time the community unanimously enjoyed a "bug" they just left it, so hopefully they'll do the same in this case and reconsider the change.

I also thought this was an intended feature and I'd like to keep it.
But maybe low-rank survs get dodged by high-rank survs too often, and that's why the devs aren't keeping it.

I think it will still get removed, not because it doesn't belong but because its result isn't good for them.
As players it's excellent to see who you're with, you can leave when the terrible matchmaking dumps you in with the wrong ranks, or if someone's dragging a brown rank into the red ranks. It makes the games you play much more enjoyable.
Overall, though, it increases matchmaking time with more (justified) dodging, or makes it hard for the "you've queued for 3 minutes so ######### rank, here's a lobby" to work out.

I think it just goes to show again that this game lacks information as a whole. It's so silly that they would remove something that let's players make a informed decision.
I don't see the point in having ranks if others can't see said rank and choose to play with you or not.

That was a bug?
This was so helpful, it let me know if I need to help my more than necessary because they were lower Rank and let me know if we were all on the same level or not. This is a mistake, having 1 Purple among a team of yellows is great for those yellows and as a matter of fact this happens regardless if we know their Rank or not but knowing it helps so much more.
I actually thought that was a great feature and really closed the gap between solo and SWF, guess not according to the devs.

######### wow would they remove it when your in green or purple you dont want be paired with rank 15+ which has been happening alot usually get 1 person similar to rank the other 2 are close to 20

Player satisfaction is good for them, though. And when it comes to queue times devs have plausible deniability, because that's not really something that's under their control, whereas UI improvements, or lack thereof, are.

It was a feature back in 2016 , devs removed it then for some reason , I don't see why they would keep it now

Personally that's one "bug" I don't want fixed. I want to know if I'm in a team of rank 15s, not discover it after a ######### match.

So I see two reasons to fix this "bug" 1. Que times 2. Stop people from dodging in lobby. Maybe that is a form of grieving?
Personally I don't think the benefits out weight the negatives. To play a game that can last 5-15+ min and you hating every second of it, for me, is worse than just waiting an extra 5min or so in the lobby because you decide to leave or 2+ min in the pregame lobby because someone left.
Information is always good.
If someone doesn't want to play with someone else, it doesn't make sense to force them. And since that depends on so many variables maybe people would rather play the game with lower ranks rather than wait longer but at least they will make an informed decision.
In the end if someone is waiting for a long time to que most often than not they'll just stay in the game with low ranks anyways. If que speeds are fast than they might switch but in that situation que times are fast so noone will suffer long wait times.
Also if you remove rank why not remove prestige/survivor level. I personally use that just as much to see if I want to play with someone. A level 3 Kate, I know only has 1 perk. That decreases our chances of winning right there.
Also why even have rank icons at all?
For me the most important thing is que time. I don't mind playing with lower ranks. But I'd rather someone leave pregame lobby than DC in the first 3min of a game.
