Some thoughts on the new ranking system and match making

Hello! This is more of a thinking out loud kind of post and not really about what's supposed to be the way to do ranking/matchmaking. Just looking to share some thoughts and see what others think as well!
When it comes to DbD, I often feel like there's only a handful of matches that ever truly feel "fair" in the sense that everyone's in an equal playing field. There's either a weak link on the survivor side which makes it feel like a 3v1 and messes up the game for the rest of the survivors, or the killer is either still learning/ not familiar with the realm or the killer and makes it a breeze for the survivors. Both of these make it feel like it's not a really good experience for either side.

So what i thought might be an interesting way to do both matchmaking/ranking would be to take account of the hours of playtime. (Yes this has probably been driven to the ground by now.) So that appropriately knowledged people are playing against each other, so that guy who goes on a win streak by accident doesn't end up getting shot down in the following games for getting to too high of a rank too soon. And maybe during the lobby search it could just look at the hours at the start to give a good base of hours to search for a Median between everyone? Obviously giving out to more lenient matchmaking as time goes on just to make sure lobbies fill up. The problems with this hour based system would probably arise when you want to try some new, wacky build and just get destroyed by the opposition, or you drag your team down because of it.

Other thought I had was to make it take into account the amount of perks you have unlocked. (Example being a person with all killer teachables only goes up against people with roughly the same amount of teachables, again taking the Median between everyone in the lobby.) This could be seen as just an alternate "hours played" system, or the kind of thing people would go exploit and making sure they just unlock the "mandatory" perks and go up against other people with low amount of unlocked perks. Other option is to take into account the amount of bloodwebs/bloodpoints they've gone through as well, adding a bit of a fair playing field.

And that about wraps up the post, there's probably some grammar issues here or there but i hope the ideas come through nonetheless. Leave your thoughts below on what you think could be done to make the matchmaking/ranking better!
