Why is Ghostface so popular?
No salt, just trying to figure it out. I go against him in more than half my games. From yellow down to red ranks, I see so many effing Ghostfaces. He is more popular now than when he first came out and I'm bored to death. What am I missing about him that makes him so popular?

He’s just really iconic. You don’t have to watch a single horror movie, but you can probably figure out who Ghostface is through various things. The mask is iconic, the name is iconic, and, even ingame, the Killer is pretty strong and solid. Plus, they’re the only Killer who can booty dance with Survivors at the same speed that they can. He’s a pretty cool Killer!

Tru3 made a big point about him being good now.
He has a huge audience.
More people play him now.
18 -
A streamer popularized a new way to play him. It's more effective than using his stalk ability. Most survivors haven't learned how to counter it yet. It's actually a lot of fun to play and play against once you know what to do.
4 -
Tru3 made good use of him. Now people want to try his method out. Add in the fact that he can hide his terror radius at will and he is pretty strong.
2 -
Probably because he's the only killer with stealth that doesn't slow them down, have a slow channel to disable, or come with major downsides.
Also his reveal mechanic is COMPLETELY bugged at the moment so it's insanely hard to reveal him even when he fills 3/4 of your screen, so that makes him significantly easier.
8 -
He's a good boy and everyone wants to be his fren.
2 -
Wouldn't mind being his fren if he weren't 50-80% of my games on any given night. Oh well. Maybe the Oni will help balance it out.
2 -
I figured I was just doing something wrong with him but it's good to know the reveal is bugged. Makes sense people wanna take advantage of that while they can. I'm just so bored.
1 -
He is the closest thing to how I imagined or wanted Legion to be.

I've also had games where I gave up when I was dead on hook and took the chance to let him chase me in a straight line, dead center of the screen.
It never even started the noise until he slugged me and came back to get me. When I was on his SHOULDER it started registering that I was looking at him.
1 -
he’s honestly overplayed. other killers need a buff so we can widen diversity.
3 -
I am a terrible looper but good at stealth. Stealth killers like GhostFace make the game more difficult since it’s so hard to detect and avoid them, which makes me hate them.
I also like them because most of the ones I face are chill players and would realize I’m fail and let me live to complete objectives. More often then not, they accept my crouching pleas for life.
They much nicer players than Trappers are. Trappers are just meanies.
2 -
Very easy to use and fairly strong.

if it wasn't for the "scream" movie, the ghostface mask would never have been famous and if the mask had never been famous then there would be no ghosty face on dbd.

Truthfully the reveal mechanic is in the survivor's favor if you're facing a no stalk Ghost Face. When you reveal Ghost Face it triggers killer instinct which shows the location of the survivor that revealed him for a few seconds. For no stalk Ghost Face, being revealed is great.
3 -
Yeah most of the time ghostface finds me is because I found him first. It's incredibly annoying. I'm just bored to death. I've never come across a single killer this often playing this game and it's honestly making me play the game less and less.
0 -
It also means they aren't watching where they are pathing for extra extra benefit.
1 -
I have a hard time believing that's why more than half my games are Ghostface though. There can't be that many killers who finally had their Legion dreams fulfilled.
1 -
Probably because of Tru3ta1ent.
0 -
Because Tru3ta1ent runs a generic, boring, stall build, wins against crap survivors and now claims Ghostface is top 3. While his sheeple fan base eat it up and parrot the same nonsense. He's also claiming that Wraith is a good killer now.....
10 -
He's really fun to play, that's why. I use the Anti Heal Build.
- Sloppy Butcher
- Nurses Calling
- Corrupt Intervention
- Save the best for last instead of Thanatophobia
Save the best for last is good because of the free stealth hits you'll get and with 8 Tokens it's practically an insta down.
I still stalk at times and when I feel it's good to.

He has an alternative play style that basically makes him a more powerful version of Wraith. It’s fun to play as and nerve racking to verse.
0 -
On a gameplay stance he is one of the most accessible stealth killers. When played correctly he can have strong efficiency and effective insta downs/mind game. Most survivors seem to not understand how to counter him, so he's a skill required kind of killer. His new cosmetic is honestly PTW in some maps like Yamaoka and Swamp cause he's so dark he just blends.

I feel the same way. I’ve faced Ghostface in maybe 50% of my games on PS4 for about 2 months. It makes me wanna just play killer. Facing the same killer over and over again is so boring. I want variety. I hate sitting in queue for 10+ minutes to get the same killer over and over again. Sometimes there is no point in playing survivor.
I played Ghostface recently and he is fun to play, an iconic character, and a solid killer. That’s why people play him. Just wish there was more variety of killers :/

I must be lucky. I am red rank survivor on PS4 and don't see Ghostface that much.
0 -
I’m a red rank survivor on PS4 and all I see are Ghostface and Spirit with the occasional Legion or Billy.
2 -
My sympathies. That's an ugly cocktail of annoying and frustrating. Billy is ok though.
0 -
because he's strong af; high tier, in fact, and fun to play to boot; as well as this, in some cases, if there are issues with latency (it's dedicated servers so almost every game) then there isn't much counterplay to his power either, since survivors can't pull him out of his power the majority of the time. This often gives a free, one hit down.
in red rank PC Oce, he's almost every game. If it's not him, it's spirit or billy normally.

I didn't know tru3 said this, and actually despise him, but he is correct in stating that GF is one of the top killers. but running stall builds with GF really isn't necessary.
Also: when did tru3 say this, as I've gone up against almost entirely ghostface players for well over a month now?
1 -
Personally I don't see him a lot in my region, I've only been seeing a ton of Trappers (literally over half of my games today is Trapper) and not a single Ghostface. But there is a reason he might have a lot of people playing him.
Playing as a killer that can actually jump at you from nowhere is fun, suddenly appearing in their faces without them being aware is something no other killer has been able to replicate (not even Myers with how tall he is)
0 -
Longer than that. And it's more of a no healing gf than stall gf.
0 -
Yeah same, he is legit 50% of my survivor matches.
1 -
Hes fun to play as and a streamer with a large audience popularized playing him for now and i can understand being annoyed at getting the same killer so often it sucked when i first started playing and only got huntress
0 -
can someone link some videos of this said new way of playing him?

I absolutely LOVE playing him and playing against him. I got scared by him and scared people with him. He and Myers are the stealthy killers that give this game the "horror" feeling.
0 -
I like playing ghostface but not the tru3 way I'm sorry but I find stall builds really boring to use
1 -
I think the increase in Trappers lately is because of the challenges.
0 -
He doesn't seem particularly strong to me. I always thought he was a mid level killer. My issue isn't that he's hard to go against, it's just honestly making me play the game less because so many games are Ghostface.
0 -
I certainly don't feel nervous against him. Bored and disappointed though, yes.
0 -
That was more to the reason why I play him. I’m pretty sure he’s been played because how everyone mention above.
The same way the plague could be used a lot once people realize her true potential. Although she could use a slight buff.
And the same way you ask why ghostface is being used a lot is the same way when people start complaining about a killer -> streamers opinion.
0 -
It's not nearly as effective to play the way Tru3 suggest. Even his build is subpar.
0 -
He's pretty good killer overall.
He can completely hide his TR and red glow which allows you to sneak up on people whole game.
Some say he can stalk people to one shot them but evidences of that claim are hard to find.
0 -
A 2.5~5 second stalk into an M1 will always be a faster down than an M1 into another M1, especially if they can reach a pallet or can use their exhaustion perk. It also gives them less time to get away from the gen they were working on, saving you time for pop goes.
A ~3 stalk into a ~5-10 second chase into an instadown with sloppy butcher into popping a gen is an insane amount of damage to do in a very short period of time. Why you instead would want to go onto a regular chase where all you are getting is a 4% thanta stack is beyond me.
0 -
he is the only killer where you will do better not using his power than using his power (the stalking portion)
0 -
Haven't u seen the movies? same way Myers is popular...
0 -
I have indeed seen the movies. I've seen Halloween, I've seen Nightmare On Elm Street, I've seen Saw, and those killers don't account for more than half my games, so...
0 -
It's kinda sad that one streamer can have the trickle down effect of making people actually play the game less.
0 -
Ghostface is another option to use viably in red ranks besides Billy, Nurse and spirit he's also fun to play
