For those who say "The devs ONLY care about money!"
I'm going to start this discussion by saying I didn't really know where to put it so I just put it in "Off- Topic". Thus, it might not be seen by anyone at all.
It's obvious A TON of cosmetics come out for both killers and survivors. I am one to admit that more purchasable costumes come out than balance changes but I actually don't mind. It's TOUGH to balance a game with entitled survivors and OP toxic killers running around, but the devs are seeming to do a fine job at balancing, since the game doesn't lean towards one side too much. (In other words, it's pretty evenly balanced).
Plus, the devs have to work on bug fixes, mid-chapter patches, and a new killer every THREE MONTHS and everything in between, so cut them some slack, eh?
Whenever someone loses a game they come to the forum and say something along the lines of "the devs aren't going to fix ___ all they care about is money." which simply ins't true. Sure, they MAKE money off cosmetics, the premium rift pass, and the game itself of course but it's not what they care about.
People seem to forget how much the game has changed. Remember double pallets, insta-blinds, exhaustion recovery while running, speedy self care heals, New Moon bouquet, the COUNTLESS Wraith buffs, being able to see the killer's red stain through walls, the insta- heal nerfs? Well all of that was from killer feedback. The devs listened to the complaints and fixed those "problems" in the game!
Also, do you fellow survivors know how they sped up pallet drops, kept momentum after vaulting, Nurse's, Spirit's, and Pig's nerfs? Well that was from feedback too!
Let's also not forget what's coming up. ALL of those AMAZING cosmetics given to EVERYONE FOR FREE!!!??? The devs totally didn't have to do that! But they did, because of people SELLING the codes for outrages prices!
Survivors and killers will undergo their nerfs and buffs, but in the end it's necessary for the health of your favorite game, Dead by Daylight.

A cynical person would say that the only reason they do anything good for the players is because it's in their best business interests to keep the players happy so they keep supporting the game financially. So unfortunately none of that is going to convince anyone who already believes that the devs only care about money to change their mind.
Having said that, I personally very much agree with the premise that the developers care about more than just how much money they can make, because it seems fairly obvious to me that they are passionate about the game itself. I believe that they value the contribution the players have made to keeping the game going and helping to improve it, not just because it makes them money, but because it allows them to keep doing something that they love. And because the developers are humans with feelings, and everyone loves that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that something you worked on is bringing other people joy.

For me it just gets tiresome to sit and wait when your favourite killers will receive some QoL change or a buff. I always preferred underrated characters to the meta ones in every game. But i just cant take legion or trapper and enjoy a game in red ranks. Id like to have more frequent minor boosts to different underperforming killers and perks in this game. But they are rarity. So i enjoy more to watch the streams of this game than play myself.

I mean if you really break it down, none of the devs would work on DbD if they were not getting paid. But I see what you mean.
However even if the devs have the best things in mind for their players its the directors and the higher ups at BHVR that decide what gets worked on, what has priority, and how the game is shaped. Usually this ends up with them focusing more on things that keep the money flowing than improving the game
Probably the reason why gens haven't been touched in over 2 years. They are boring and depending on what survivors do they either get done super quick, or never get done. But since making them more interesting and having them extend the game out longer won't make them any money and require for them to re-balance a lot of things if they did a change, they will 100% never change the way gens are done.

The only reason I jump on the bandwagon of "they only care about money" is for two reasons.
1) New Killers, New Survivors, New Cosmetics - Do we REALLY need those? Why should I cut them slack for making new stuff all the time? New stuff we do NOT need? We don't need new killers, survivors, or cosmetics. People can live with what they're currently wearing. People can live with what the perks and killers and survivors they have. They should focus on balancing all killers and perks (surv and killer sided), before adding more unbalanced stuff. Tell me, why do we need it. I understand they need to make money to pay employees but can those employees actually do their job then?
2) The REAL Community - I've gone on the forums numerous times after patches and seen that a lot of people are saying that BHVR did not listen to them as to what they ACTUALLY wanted. BHVR does what THEY want, they don't seem to care about their real community, they just care about what they want. I understand they made it and it's technically their game but they have a lot of people dropping money on the game and a large community that plays it, they spend our money on making cosmetics and getting licensed killers. Not on fixing bugs or balancing. When they do, they don't do it right.
Idc much for balancing at this moment, I know it's hard but the game is very buggy which is my main concern. I want to actually see them fixing ...no... squashing bugs that have been around for months and months on end. Don't get me wrong, I like the game and I WANT to support BHVR but until I see progress on the bugs, Idk if I can believe they do not care for money.
I understand a lot of other stuff has been changed due to feedback in the past but from what I've seen, especially recently, they either don't listen too well or don't fix what's needed. Or they just do a bad job at fixing things. Like Dead Hard for example, I was in a match earlier where it activated but I went down but DH was supposedly fixed, don't worry! Or another example, the rank update error I saw a forum in September (when I first saw the bug for myself) that said they've seen it since July, It's almost 2020 now and it's still not fixed.
Not to mention the whole "I think we've done a pretty good job so far" is a meme within the community due to the fact that the game is becoming slightly more unplayable as time goes by and they don't seem to be doing much about it.

They are a company who must support themselves and all the people in their employment. Like any company they have bills to pay, people to feed and a future of things to continue/advance. OF COURSE they want money and it will be a focal point to some degree with all their choices but I do not believe BHVR to be solely about money. I dislike the battle pass system and would rather it not be a thing in this game but I don't think its a greedy cash grab (yet). I think the "DLC" pricing is fine right now and nothing seems too crazy. I find cosmetics to be expensive but this is (I would imagine) a huge source of the income the game receives.
If a company wants to grow so it can become a better version of itself then it needs to make money and gather investors, this is just a fact of the world we live in. The important thing is to always stay true to your fans and not get too focused on your bottom dollar.

New Killers, New Survivors, New Cosmetics - Do we REALLY need those?
Before the second anniversary, when there was no roadmap and updates didn't drop at regular intervals, the player base dropped constantly during content draughts.
This kind of game, whose core is small and repetitive in its nature, needs new characters and mechanics to keep players involved.

And if the devs didnt make new content, they wouldnt need the PTB server and then we wouldnt be able to play on the PTB because the Live server is having a bad day, a little depressed and worried about Thanksgiving and the relatives arriving unannounced.. especially Great Aunt Mabel who always insists on making her own real corn bread stuffing ...

Develloping the game is though, when you actually try
I've been playing dbd for years, and i keep finding more bugs while the old ones are still there
if they spent there efforts into fixing all the bugs BEFORE trying to get our money, the game would be really nice, but instead they keep acting and talking in a way that only shows their disrespect
i don't need new survivors or killers, or to dress Kate in a leather pants, i want a game that works

Well, the devs do care about money, because without it the company goes bust, and they cannot pay their bills.
They also care about the state of the game, and the community by bringing lots of content, regular patches and answering questions of the public, as well as being on these forums with quite frankly very diplomatic comments considering what some say.
Sure, they make mistakes, but so does everyone else. Anyone who has been in any job for a period of time cannot say they've upseta customer or made a mistake. It's how they fix it which is important.
Fortunately, a lot of people do appreciate what the devs do. It's time they get a little respect back.

don't get me wrong, i don't mind if people are ok to pay them for no bug fixes

They've done numerous bug fixes in every update. Many are listed in the patch updates that can be viewed from this forum.
New bugs are bound to come about as the game evolves, but those bugs are then reported and looked into. I understand people get frustrated when bugs hit (as someone who's played Fallout, my God!), but it would be interesting for people to see if they can give more instances of bugs not fixed than bugs which are fixed.
