What is wrong with matchmaking?

So many people online, but it takes around 15 minutes to find game a killer. It's even worse for survivor - for same amount of time you will either get matchmaking time out, or be matched with 1-2 people who will leave 5-10 minutes later, new will jon, but the lobby will almost never go to 4 people. It takes hours to find a single game. Before (few years ago) switching download region of steam helped to find faster games, but now it seems like it has no effect at all.

Right at the moment, a lot of people are having trouble getting into the queue at all, so that's probably having an effect on matchmaking times.
