Let's come up with an objective win condition for both sides, and a new ranking system too.
What constitutes a win for a killer? What about a survivor? Is it the result of the match, or is it what they did within it?
I want to bring up the discussion of what should constitute a win for both sides. From that we could be able to take a look at our current win-conditions and perhaps give a few ideas for a rank rework that should be coming soon™.
Now here's where we get to opinion, my opinion. I believe a win should constitute the result of a match with a few conditions that progress you and your team to the win. Let's start with survivor.
Survivors would be judged more on their team performance rather than only what they themselves did. This would mean that if your team was only able to get three people out, and you were the one that died, as long as you contributed to that, say doing generators, unhooking, healing others (of course these wouldn't be worth the same amount of weight, generators probably mattering more than healing others) then the team as a whole would pip, including yourself.
Now let's get on to killer. Once upon a time, there was a ranking system called the victory cube. It judged your rank based on the number of sacrifices you were able to get, while also counting hooks. Personally, I think that this was a brilliant system that judged you based on your performance. Of course, I'd like to change a few things about it as it wasn't perfect. The idea would still remain. You'd be ranked based primarily on how many survivors you've sacrificed. a 3k would always guarantee a pip. A 2k is a tie, both sides equally performed. The only way to get a pip as a killer with a 2k would be if you hooked the escaping survivors a debatable amount of times.
With this, you have a clear win condition. For killers, it's killing. For survivors, it's escaping. And with small contributions during the match counting towards your victory rather than it being the entire reason for your rank-up, we could start having a ranking system that judges a players skill in succeeding said objectives.
Let me know what you think.
