I hope, that Last Year: The Nightmare will be strong competition for DbD

On LY's last AMA they said, that they will be focusing on varaiety. If LY willl turn out as a great game, maybe devs will stop focusing on skins, ( witch only youtubers buy, because they don't have ideas for videos and naming them "New xyz skin gameplay"), and focus on something more important. I would love to have 66 perks (for now as killer) that i could use constantly and make diffriend builds with them, but that will never be possible. They keep releasing bad perks, and leaving perks like mounstrus shrine hangman's trick, or fire up alone. Only strong rival can force them to focus on actuall content.

I buy Killer skins lol even though I can't actually see me wearing them I want to show off my sexy body to the Survivors.

I don't think it will turn into a competition, I highly doubt they'll ever be on a competitive level but I do hope they instead learn from each other. Death Garden solved many issues plaguing DBD and this game could learn from them as the two games are similar so perhaps this will happen with these two games instead. Though I highly doubt that though since I have not heard anything at all of changing actual Objectives or redesigning Gens and such, Gen rush is here to stay and Gens will still be boring.

Yeah, I feel like the hype for LY died down a bit. Might have been a pressure tool 1-2 years ago, but right now, especially since F13 got abandoned, DbD pretty much stands alone in this niche imo

They've removed the in-game voice comms which has made me interested in this game, but I never buy a game full price, i'll see what the initial thoughts are of the re-launch. It might prove to be a nice alternative to DBD, or force DBD to become more creative if the features that LY offer which DBD don't prove to be popular.

It already failed once, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Despite the negative PR, the real killer for it the first time was the lack of any type of progression, and there's no sign that they've addressed that.

  • It won't, I played it and not only was it bad, it was probably one of the worst games I've ever played. Everything about it was just awful, and no one played it, and then the devs abandoned it and and the few people that stayed behind to play it.

As far as I am concerned, stay away from this one. (It looks and plays NOTHING like what you see in the trailers don't get sucked in by it)

  • There was also this, and it did happen. He isn't even exaggerating at all, it was just that ridiculous.

The game already released on discord and it was a flop. Same will happen with the steam release

I'll say good luck to them and hope Elastic games does really well. Will it be good competition for DBD? I hope so because then BHVR might make proper, good changes to this game.

Well, it wasn't competition when it first released on the Discord store, but perhaps they've made some changes since then. I agree, however, that some serious competition would probably be good for both games, as it would spur them on to strive to be better than one another.
