Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Choose your difficulty (Tome)

I personally didn’t have a problem with the current challenges. However, I understand why they needed to be change.

I’m curious if it is possible for the devs to implement a system where you can choose your own difficulty for each tome released. Two modes, Normal/Hard.

Normal - Like the new challenge

Hard - Like the old challenge with a bit more xp

Once you select your mode you will not be able to change it until that tome is completed. However, you can switch your mode on the next released tome.

What happens if you pick Hard and find it too difficult? SOL?

I pretty much made a forum thread hours prior to this one with the exact same idea (but slightly more detailed-ish)... but called it 'Expert' mode to hopefully let people know "Hey, these challenges are gonna be super difficult. Hope you know what you're getting yourself into." and also suggested being able to preview the tome before getting into it.

So at that point if you pick that mode, it's your fault. People should figure hard is meant to be hard, their fault if they think hard is supposed to be easy.

I guess my concern is that "hard" could be "technically more difficult than normal but still easy" or it could be "sadistically difficult." And even with other people giving their input, you wouldn't really know for sure if it would be too difficult for you until you took the plunge.

If anything, I would rather it be something more like "You complete the easy challenge, and from there, you have the option to either claim the reward right there and unlock the next node or to leave the reward unclaimed and attempt to complete the hard mode of that challenge to upgrade your reward."
