Why do I lose a pip if someone disconnects?
Like...I should be given a pip if anything, it isn't my fault that the killer or one of the survivor quit right at the start of the match.
i think killer or survivor should’nt lose their progress due to that

This shouldn't happen.
You should always check if you actually lost a pip after the match. It could always be just a visual gltich on the endgame menu.

You shouldn't lose a pip if they disconnect during loading, or if the killer is the one who disconnects. As others mentioned, there is a glitch in the postgame screen which makes it look as though you've lost a pip in that situation when you actually haven't.
If another survivor disconnects at the start of the match, you aren't guaranteed a depip. It's still possible for you to play well and be rewarded for it, but it does worsen your chances of survival.
