I have mostly been playing killer and I've had the game for about 4 or 5 weeks now so I'm still fairly new....but every game seems to go about the same. The game starts, I start looking for survivors, I maybe find 1 or 2, and then I chase them...usually I'll just get the initial hit and then I'm completely unable to catch up to them with all the window vaults and going tightly around objects like cars or junk piles....I hear the noise and see the notification that 1 gen has finished, then 2 right after.

The survivor I'm chasing crouches down and wiggles their butt, taunting me so in frustration I start running around to all of the generators again, using my overcharge on them when I can. I maybe finally catch and hook someone as the 3rd gen is finished, and then in the interests of not camping, I run away from the hook to try to defend the last few generators. They usually get rescued as soon as I leave and then depending on how close the remaining generators are to one another, I basically run around stomping any ones I see that have started and I'll hit anyone nearby but I don't chase if they are going too far away.

After a bit, the last gen goes up, everyone rushes for the exit, I maybe manage to down and hook 1 person and by the time I do that at least 1 of the exit games are opened so my options are 1) go to the open exit gate and maybe get a hit or 2 off as they crouch down and wiggle their butts at me and the hook person gets rescued or 2) attempt to camp the hook to ensure I get 1 kill.

What am I doing wrong? I've searched for guides and read/watched a few but I guess I'm not quite sure still how the match should go and would appreciate any tips or especially links to good videos or guides that would help.

I've been playing a mix of killers so far because I am trying to gain access to certain teachables. The only good abilities I've unlocked so far are bbq & chilli and hex: ruin, neither of which I have gotten on the doctor so far which I am playing currently in an attempt to get monitor and abuse and overcharge.

This video is a decent basis for a beginner killer.

Thanks, both of you! That video is especially good -- I didn't know as a killer or a survivor that the red stain was anything more than heightening the fear if you see it right on you....I'd never really been looking for it as a survivor or paying attention to which way I was looking as a killer. I'll have to try some of that out.

There are so many "killer mains" in the forum stating that they can easily 4k almost every game without tunneling and camping.

When I ask for video/guide or sth, I never get an answer

So either they're lying through their teeth or they just don't want to share their secrets :P. Would be nice to get some tips as to the general overview of a game and how it should go...

You could always search up Brickys Dbd guides. They're pretty decent because he teaches you the basics of a every killer. They're pretty fun to watch and he'll teach you strategies and tips
