Honest questions for a mod or dev
My most recent post was closed and a moderator left a comment stating that people breaking the rules in game should be reported, recorded, and the evidence should be sent in to be looked at. I want to ask some honest questions here. Not trying to be difficult.
I have done all these things in the past. I personally sent in a screenshot of a message I received from a killer asking me to work with him to kill the other survivors. He told me if I would help him kill them all he would let me farm for lots of points before he killed me. I refused and was going to record in case he found someone else to do it. Someone else must have just quit when he asked them because we got the whole quick end because someone had disconnected. Regardless, nothing was done to this killer. I know because he was already one of my ingame friends. I was able to check his status everyday for several weeks and he was active every day.
My wife plays DBD also. She recorded several minutes of video a few months back of a survivor and killer working together and it was blatantly obvious. She was ingame friends with one of them and once again she saw them active every day.
Which brings me to my questions. Is there something that prevents people from receiving suspensions and/or bans on PS4? Does it require more than one case of definitive proof of rule breaking before someone receives punitive action? Like I say, I'm not trying to be difficult. I just don't understand why I or anyone else should make the effort to report people when proof of blatantly obvious rules violations have no result.

I can chime in here. I used to be an ACM, one of the people who deals with those reports. It can take time depending on how many other reports we have, but we do check each one. If there's even a shred of doubt that they might be playing legitimately, we'll usually err on the side of caution and not ban them. If they are actually breaking the rules, odds are they'll slip up again before long, and this way we don't ban anyone innocent.
I would absolutely recommend reporting them whenever you can, though. Even if we aren't able to use your report alone, we can use reports from multiple people to build a case against them.
There shouldn't be any way they can avoid a ban, though.

Thanks for the reply. That actually helps. Looking at my examples above I suppose it may have been hard to justify a ban on someone simply asking to cheat when we didn't actually get to play the game. I will admit to being a little confused that nothing ever happened to the people with the video my wife sent in. Regardless, knowing people actually do get banned gives me incentive to do everything in my power to catch them abusing the system and report them. I would love nothing more than to see people that ruin the game for everyone else get a ban.
