Freddy Changes / Buff Idea Thread

Freddy needs love, the devs know it and we know it.

We all know it's a work in progress but it's been almost a year ( might be a year when his changes go live lmao ) so lets brainstorm!

Easy changes to make him viable:

  1. Sleep timer 4 seconds default. He is "okay" against average survivors with a 4-second sleep timer.
  2. Buff and or rework his addons. Action speed add-ons should be actually severe. Hopefully, skill check chances are not based on time but based on progress, but I'm assuming it's based on time, unfortunately.
  3. Remove his "mist". It serves no purpose and only hurts freddy. If you want to keep his mist, then he deserves some SERIOUS power in the dream world, which i'll get to in a second.
  4. Lullaby should be map wide, volume should change based on distance from a survivor but there should ALWAYS be a lullaby going on while awake. Give a chance for survivors to suddenly fall asleep while listening to the lullaby. Lockers or the basement should be the only "zones" where you are safe from the lullaby sleeping effect.
  5. Freddy should have the ability to jump out of lockers during a chase with his power. If a survivor is running straight ahead and there is a locker in the distance, allow freddy to do a 1 second channel to teleport to the nearest locker while using his sleep ability on the survivor in the chase. This would allow for some interesting chase mechanics.
  6. Freddy should not be 100% visible at all times vs sleeping survivors. Make his appearance pop in and out constantly, like every 2 seconds he appears. This would allow him to mind game pallets and have interesting chases.

All my suggestions are assuming you will be keeping the current system of waking up. Obviously if that changes, than what I suggested would have to be tweaked or looked into because it could be pretty OP otherwise.

I'd love my favorite themed killer to get enough love where he can compete with the nurse or billy.

    I like it except the lullaby being map wide. That would be quite annoying to hear for the entire duration of the match. Imagine hearing the Huntress humming for an entire 10 minute match. I get what you are going for but it would just be an annoyance to survivors. I’m not complaning due to the purpose behind it, but I’m not sure if my ears could take children singing in my ear for an entire round...at that point I’d WANT Freddy to come kill me.

    they should first fix his sleep, i mean it takes near to no skill to just stand and spam the button to sleep anyone within his radius. He should only be able to do it while looking straight at a survivor, like the shape does.

    but sometimes you can not see the actual survivor. I just do a 360 loop with the power each time I hear a gen has been worked on and I always catch a crouching prestige 3 Claudette hiding behind a tree.

    What I feel would be perfect is if survivors could not do ANYTHING when asleep. Only save people from hooks. How it would work if everyone gets put to sleep. Freddy gets one on hook, they are woken up. While he chases another, one goes for the save and they wake each other up. DONE. they can't wake themselves up. Also the dream trantition can stay 7 seconds BUT when doing so they are halted on all actions, even hook saves, which will end the helplessness Freddy has.

    Love the ideas especially the locker idea that is good and kinda resembles the real movie with how he is in control of the dream, or nightmare.
    would be good for a PTB to see if freddy not constantly been visible against sleeping survivors.

    Exactly....this is simply broken. Its bad enough you are invisible.

    1) Hitting someone with Dream Demon should knock them out of an action for 2 seconds (vaulting/pallets excluded). The biggest problem I have when playing Freddy is that people just do ######### right in your face. If hitting them with my power would push them off the gen/unhook/door/heal for even 2 seconds that would be enough, especially when it comes to healing someone on the ground. That's the most annoying thing is if they swarm the downed guy he will get up and you can't stop it unless you have stacked blocks.

    2) Adjust darkness/fog of DW. This would help both Freddy and survivors.

    3) Skill checks should invert in DW. What I mean by that is that instead of most of the skill check being an empty "fail" zone with a small good/great zones, invert that so that the good zones are huge, almost the whole skill check, and the fail zone is really small. This would mean you have to try to fail the skill check instead of just mashing the button. Great skill check zone should be the same, but good zone should be the same size as the fail zone when awake. Unnerving Presence would make the fail zone even smaller. The only exception should be Overcharge, which should only trigger when you do the gen while awake. Then if you use it as Freddy, they have to fail a skill check to wake up and then immediately face an OC skill check.

    4) His lullaby should be directional from 16m to 24m, and if you've been put to sleep once you should see flashes of him in the real world very seldomly (maybe 1 per 30 seconds or something). This would make it a bit easier for survivors to stealth him as apparently it's too hard (it's not IMO, but if the other stuff happens I'm cool with this as a Freddy player). Pill Bottle would remove the flashes in real world and transition.

    5) Remove the downsides to his lower tier add-ons. Class Photo should only add +1s to transition not +2s. Speed with Red Paint Brush should be 4.5 m/s which is 112.5% (same as Hag with Waterlogged Shoe), not 4.4 m/s (110%) that it is now.

    6) Rake/Claws/Paint Thinner should increase the 'knock out' timer for #1 by 2/3/5 seconds.

    Protip: DO NOT JUST HIDE RIGHT NEXT TO A GEN. Walk away and hide somewhere else. I had a game today with a Claud that was doing a really good job of walking away when I came to the gen. I circled the area a few times and couldn't find her. After maybe 3 times I decided to go to the main boat (Pale Rose) and watched the gen from a distance and saw where she was going each time. But you can totally avoid this if you play smart.

    I know this isn’t the most Popular Buff Idea, but Freddy doesn’t exist
    he is a Nightmare(now only to play as)
    What if they’d give him the ability to walk through Walls and obstacles 
    This would work on him since he can’t harm them until they are in the Dreamworld. He can still be Stunned but that Buff would make him extremely Dangerous instead of being a Joke.
    Also Remove Self Care Skillchecks that wake Survivors up when they screwed them up and give him the ability to grab them when they’re in the Dream Transition 
    Maybe add a 1 Second Cooldown to the Walking through Walls when in a Chase
    But he can’t walk through the floor for example in the Killershackwhen there’s the basement

    He should deff get a teleport of something to help him out.. I mean if he cant hurt anyone while out of dream state they should do this for freddy.. he was prettymuch a god in the dream world and the devs made him just a guy running around with blades attached to his fingers.. come on devs give us the freddy we deserve <3
