Hex Totem Idea

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, or how viable it is, but I guess that is point of the Discussion forum ^^

As a survivor or killer, how many times do you experience the Hex Totem being destroyed in first 2 minutes of the match? I know I have experienced this many times from both sides. Heck, I have spawn a number of times just feet away from them as a survivor (which fills me with glee).

As a killer though it can be very frustrating. It is obvious when a survivor spawned on top of it and it is never fun to have such bad luck.

To help give Hex Totems more of a fighting chance here is my idea:

  • Allow for 2-3 more extra totems to spawn every game.
  • Hex Totems are no longer on fire. This allows them to hide in plain sight.

Right now I find a lot of people treat totems as a passing thought. With more totems and the Hex being less obvious it would be more of a true secondary objective. If they find the Hex Totem the normal BOOM occurs and the Hex Perk dies.

For killer they would still have the aura of their hex totem so they know exactly which one it is. They can choose to trap it or protect it, and therefore risk exposing it, or ignore it and hope the survivors leave it be.

Here are the positives I think this change would bring to the game:

  • Perks like Detective Hunch, Inner Strength, Thrill, and Small Game are more useful. (Thrill may need to be tweaked. Maybe just the notification goes off? The slow down time may be too OP. Discuss below ^^)
  • More totems = more blood points!
  • Having more totems to cleanse as a secondary objective means Gens speeds should be slowed slightly (I know a lot of people have been asking for that). The flip side is if Survivors skip cleansing totems in favor of completing gens faster then they run the risk of getting hit with NOED or Devour. Yes, that is how it is now but this slightly increases the risk factor of not doing totems. Right now, for me, they are easy peezy as a survivor. I can't remember the last time I was hit with NOED, but I'm Rank 3. It could effect the lower ranks differently (again discuss below).
  • Hex Perks get buffed slightly in that they have a better chance of staying in play longer.

Let me know what you think below.

Oh, as a fun Perk change for this maybe Detective Hunch shows the Hex Totem if it is within range? Or Small Game makes a different alert sound when you are looking at it?
