Broken Keys Concept
Hello, Ive been playing DBD since March of 2017 and through my time I've always thought of new ideas that can be implemented into the game. One of my main concerns in the game was broken keys. Currently, they have no purpose and are the most unused item in the game. To make broken keys useful you could add an objective where you can aqquire key fragments out of chests or find them hidden throughout the map. Once you collect each piece (3 in total) you can craft a dull or skeleton depending on the pieces rarity. To craft them, you can bring the pieces to the blacksmith which would be an option you can select in the menu screen. You could also turn this idea into various challenges survivors have to do in the tome for bloodpoints.

As much as I admire your creativity, I'm very much against the idea of lootboxes.
We already have microtransactions and a battlepass - the latter of which I like, for the record - but random loot, especially if we're including cosmetics which will mean they'll almost definitely have to be monetised, is taking it too far for me.

I completely understand where your coming from. The locked chest idea was an addition to the concept I thought of for more content. I edited that part out and now have the main concept I want to present to people.

I like it as an idea, the only problem I have with it is that keys are already more common than they should be. Perhaps something like this would be a good addition if they made it so that dull/skeleton keys couldn't be found in chests, and/or made them much rarer on the bloodweb. In fact, maybe they could remove them altogether and just have broken keys which you need to forge into working ones. As much as I love my keys, I wouldn't be too opposed to that happening. I'd much rather they were made harder to acquire than nerfed overall.
I'm not sure whether a blacksmith is particularly lore-friendly for DBD, but maybe people could forge them through the Rift somehow, like get the Observer to turn the broken fragments into keys since we know he can manifest items from the fog.
