Why is window tech a thing?
So a friend of mine that is a survivor main asked me to go to a custom game to try window tech.
Even tho it didnt work (because he was practising) many people can use this "juke" really well to make the killer lose all the advantage he had on you, even tho it is easily counterable.
And this kept me thinking...
Isn't this a "juke" based on a flaw of the game? This is dependant on the fact that the killer becomes immaterial in the middle of the vault animation. It seems to me, abusing a flawed game mechanic and nothing more than that. Just to clarify: feel free to use it as it is a devs fault for making it like it is and not youra for using it, im not saying "screw people who use it".
I know it takes practice, but it shouldnt exist, like the poor FoV that killers have.
Another thing that bothers me is the hook tech.
Why the hell can a survivor put himself behind a hooked person and the killer not?
And why did they remove the "wall smacking" when smacking someone on the hook? Auto aim also sucks so it doesnt help on the matter.
EDIT: TLDR; Window tech shouldn't exist even tho it is easily counterable by hearing the survivor or huggign the wall. It's a game flaw. Hook tech shouldn't exist.
My question is: Do you think that window tech is a good game mechanic or is it based on a flaw of the killer's mechanics?

Personally, I'd hate to see all the little pieces of "tech" removed from the game, I think little things like this make the game more fun and enjoyable...same as the harvester tech which just got restored.

I play both sides(im a killer main tho so im kinda biased, i guess...?) and that friend of mine that i talked before loves to do these things, he likes to hummiliate killers but i feel bad for those poor guys that get really trolled sometimes.
Im a red rank killer so i know how unfun it is to face it. Its fun for survivors, not for killers BUT i would feel ok with this if killers had things like these too.
Ex: juggling people to avoid ds, hillbilly doing drifts to go up some walls (looking at you, bloodlodge), etc.
I still think that these are cheap things that make killer even more stressing rhan it already is.

"Hook tech" (glitching behind the hook)
needs to go, you literally turn the survivor on the hook into a meat shield and there is nothing the killer can do about it.
I have also had some odd hits at the hook where i am standing directly behind a survivor because he ran me to the hook or just blatantly unhooked in my face, and my hit phases through the one unhooking and hits the one being saved.
I have also seen this happen to streamers.

Except that the harvester tech is based on a design of a structure, while the window tech is based, as OP said, on a bug. Isn’t this tech the same as it was back in 2016, hitting a wall after landing an hit to avoid weapon cool down? Or the same as abusing sprint burst on demand bug? Both were tech, not many knew it (thanks god i’d say).

lol imagine collision working

I see your point but I gotta disagree, to me it's in the category as a killer hiding their red light and stuff like that. It's a trick that makes chases more interesting, and it only takes a moment to check if they did it to you if you're unsure (I guess on consoles doing the turn might not be as instant as on PC though?).
It's really not something that should work consistently against a killer, if a survivor does it once the killer should be on the lookout for it and it inherently makes the survivor gain less distance than if they just ran normally after vaulting.

The problem is that veing juked by a window tech doesnt leave feedback for you to know that they have that gamestyle.
Its the opposite of hiding your red stain because it makes part of mindgames and has counterplay but if you window tech and tou are good at it, it will give you a free health state each match because there is no way for a killer to tell where tou went.
Also, it doeant make sense for you to become immaterial when vaulting. Why do you become immaterial, in the first place?

LMAO. And why being hit 2 miles from window or pallet is a thing? Get tech'd while I'm getting dedicated'd
6 -
Jesus Christ. Imagine complaining about Window tech, That ######### doesn't work on good killers.
Only tech that needs to go is the new Hook tech. I'm a survivor main and that's completely BS, If I didn't know about this I would have lunged normally as a killer because I know they took out the hitbox for hooked survivors but apparently not.

lol imagine hitboxes working

I, personally, never been juked by it, so my opinion on this thread is based on this video.
Put it at 0:45 and you will see why i'm bragging about it. I don't know if they patched it because a friend of mine tried to do it yesterday and it didn't work at any time. Maybe he was doing it wrong? Again, he was practising.

Killers also get dedicated serverd and have to deal with autoaim and hitboxes too.
In the killer vision, he hitted you and your vision is very very slightly after the killer's so that is why you get those hits.
Now, lag and a slight delay will ALWAYS happen in all online games, deal with it. But not having collision while vaulting is a game flaw.

I personally just kind of dislike how EVERY action seems to lock the camera in place for the killer.
I'm stepping over a low window ledge, I can do that very easily while turning my head to the left or the right rather than stare straight forward.
And yet survivors can do a full parkour movement over the same ledge, and have their neck wrenched 180 like an owl to watch the killer's movements. Yes, there's a third person camera vs first person, but the first person camera doesn't need to be so goddamn locked half the game to FORCE you to lose sight of people.

It happens not just with survivors, but with killers too.
Just don't insult the devs in the forums if you don't want to be banned by a mod. Give constructive criticism. They mess up a lot of times, but don't insult them, at least not that much xD
This comes from a person who mains legion and waited 7 months for a change after what they did to that character.

Never thought about it, but now that it is mentioned, you're right. BUT on the other hand it is needed for balance purposes. They just need to fix the survivor's and killer's hitboxes and simple mechanics like having no collision while vaulting.
For a better vision, I would recommend making shadowborn tier 3 base and rework the perk completely.

I don't have any problems with it. It is super easy to avoid as killer if you have ears. If you keep falling for it over and over it is your fault.
2 -
You are talking about devs who reduced killer fov, moved the camera forward so there is a blind spot, make the killers vision darker and muffled sound so the killer can't hear survivors.
2 -
Damn, we really be reaching for the stars with this one. Removing all the tech's in this game really gonna kill it for old players even more than it is now lmfao. Idk how you have issues with this when you can literally hear footsteps, see scratch marks, and look the other direction to see if they did or not.
Legit if you are still falling for this in 2019 maybe you just aren't that good at the video game and need to get better. If the killer knows you'll do this it's a free hit for them.
1 -
Why did the hook tech get removed. Literally no one complained about it.
1 -
I've never fell for it, at least, as i can remember everyone that tried or got stuck with me or i could hear them vaulting or walking and then a free hit.
That's not the point, the point is that there are many mechanics like these that favour survivors a lot like the hook tech also. The survivor on the hook is immortal and can be your shield and then use borrowed time.
It shouldn't exist, even tho it is easy to counter or avoid, thats the point.

Window tech doesn't even work on good players....
6 -
I am not falling for this, I never said that or mentioned anything related.
I'm just saying that it is a game flaw that survivors are able to do that and new killers will fall for it without a good reason for it to exist.
0 -
I know, but it is stupid that it even exists.
2 -
The new hook tech isn't bad, you can face camp two people at the same time. ez
1 -
They got rid of original hook tech so now people are forced to do this to save mates from camping killers
1 -
It's something that's easy to play around and spices chases up a bit. I think it's good.
4 -
Looks like we found the big brain of this thread
8 -
There you go. Wow window tech too strong.
2 -
Like the Trap tech which got restored because of that OP killer called the trapper?
1 -
Just walk to the wall
1 -
Why is an extremely clever aproach to killer's FOV while vaulting and a strategy that can turn the tables on the killer if done by a good survivor in game valid?
0 -
You mean one person disarming while the other goes through?
0 -
Exactly that one.
0 -
You didnt read my comments, did you?
0 -
It requires so much effort but it is a little op I guess
0 -
The killer can camp, it’s the survivors fault if the hooked one dies :)
0 -
The only tech that I think should be removed is tractor tech. On the harvester. It’s so cheap and basically a free kill
0 -
Hiding your red stain =/= abusing a collision glitch. I don't want to see techs removed, but I'm tired of false equivalency arguments like this.
2 -
It's a thing because of dedicated servers.
0 -
It is nice to have that in game, except you guys constantly break the sound.
0 -
I personally don't think that it's a big deal. A survivor can vault a window of a maximum of 3 times in a chase, so hug the walls and keep chasing or do some type of mind game (depending on the killer). If a survivor uses a person on the hook as shield is a good thing for killers because your basically securing your kill and you can't say you camped when a survivor tried to unhook in your face.
0 -
Yeah, then the killers wouldn’t be able to swing at windows that we just vaulted safely and we get sucked back into and get hit for free. Or when we try and move past each other but we are too big apparently to for both and one of us get hit. And getting hit even though we throw a pallet down and stun the killer. Or my favorite, the hit at air technique and by magic, the swing hits me when I’m 8 years ahead of the killer. Yeah, let’s make collision’s work, I’m sure y’all will be very happy to remove the one thing that we have, but get rid of the 8 things that you do. I am a-okay with that.
1 -
Totally agree. "bugs" or mechanics which weren't meant to be there are usually the most fun things in games and since it has a counter it shouldn't be removed.

Jeez, why was this thread revived?
0 -
He says sounds are broken, but Tru has discovered something that REALLY helped me. A lot of Headsets, and Sound Cards have software which enables Surround Sound. When Surround Sound is enabled, it messes with the sounds of survivors. i.e. you can't hear them. Make sure to disable all audio enhancements and it very well may fix your problem. It did for me.
I have a wireless headset and it had surround sound enabled by default.

is it really that hard to check
0 -
noooooooooo, it's not. This is sarcasm in case you didn't know
0 -
Yes, delete tech that actually require some skill, survivors only needs the braindead pallet loops anyways.
0 -
Personally, I hate to see the title "tech" when obviously it is an exploit because obviously, it's not intentional. I think little things like this make the game more unfun and frustrating for a killer since it has zero counterplay.
