Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Perk build mechanic suggestion

So I think I've see a few times where the community complains about people using same pretty build over and over.

What if there was an in game limit established with the builds? Just suggesting, how interesting or more predictable if let's say you could only use 1-2 teachable perks on a character, or if you had to use at least 1 unique perk on the killer.

Example of only 1 teachable limit and 1 forced unique would only allow hag or cannible to run the hex ruin and BBQ combo. Everyone else would only be able to run 1 or the other.

My original thought was only 1 teachable, and at least 1 unique where the other 2 spots could still be the other 2 unique perks or 2 of the general ones but there could be variants to this where you could have 3 teachable but from only 1 other killer set. Or 2 teachable from 2 different ones. It would add some predictability to see certain characters. Just a thought

This would only make survivors stronger right?

No, survivors are affected too. So you have to be David or Laurie to have both dead hard and decisive strike. No more dead hard, decisive strike, borrowed time and self heal build out.

I just think the ability to have all 4 slots filled with other characters perks really takes away the speciality of the character. At least with killers they have a power but survivors are completely unpredictable because of this. As a killer, I would like to be able to see a survivor and have a chance to guess what they will have. When you see what killer your playing against, you get an idea of how they are going to play but as a killer you don't get that at all. If anything this would buff killers more by preventing SWF running 4 blendettes with meta builds for survivors.

Mainly, it would completely mess up all meta builds without changing any perks. It would allow 25% predictably while still granting 75% guess work, and force people to experiment with new builds. Ultimately refreshing the game, bringing balance without messing up perks.

I want to see Survivors or killers and know that that they have 1 of their perks attached. Other wise, what is the point of using that character other than looks and cosmetics (minus killers because they always have unique powers)

While it could be nice for the survivors to be more unique in some way, I don't think this is the way to do it. One of my favourite things about DbD is the freedom to experiment and have fun playing around with different perk builds and discovering interesting or underrated ways they might synergise with one another.

This wouldn't erase the meta, it would just make builds more frustratingly restrictive for all players with no real advantage as far as enjoyment or gameplay quality is concerned.

@DudeDelicious This seems like a topic to which you might have something to contribute, given your interest in perks and build synergies.

Lol I'm just an idea man guys but I love your constructive feedback, Reddit was nothing but toxic whiners.

@DudeDelicious what is your opinion on no mither and what ideas do you have for it? From my perspective it seems useless outside of synergy combos like resilience, but not worth it at all.
