Last Minute Hero is infuriating
I thought about posting this for a while, but I held back. Now if get relentlessly bullied off of the forums I don't care, I needed to say, this for my sake. While I didn't complain about the changes done to the level 3 challenges, I would have been willing to try and complete them anyway. Save for one. Who thought of "Last Minute Hero"? This challenge is infuriatingly out of a solo survivors control. How am I meant to get a safe unhook during the endgame, when I either never get there in the first place, everyone leaves as soon as it starts, or the killer dcs the second more then two gens are done? And before you say "just play SWF and the challenge is ez!" I don't have any friends to play the game with. I have persevered through every other challenge that I wanted to complete, but this one actually makes me physically angry. Did the devs seriously think that making it 1 less safe unhook would fix the core issue of this challenge. I've always related to Claudette on a personal level and when the archives were announced I wanted nothing more than to learn more about her, but I suppose that's just not going to happen. And before anyone says "just read her lore on the wiki/watch her cinematic on YouTube!" No, I don't want to do that, I want to earn it, but this challenge is so demoralising. I've had a pretty hard year, and things like this are really not the kick in the teeth I needed.
@Peanits is there any intention at taking another look at this challenge in particular? I understand if there isn't as I'm sure there is more important thing for the dev team to focus on right now.

I haven't got to that challenge yet but it does happen from time to time i get a safe unhook during EGC
But i'm feeling it's one of those things that the second you select the chalenge it never happens anymore : P

I did all the challenges as solo player and its doable.
you just genrush the killer, dont go for unhooks (other ones do it anyway, or they do gens) and you are in the endgame very soon. Then you open an exit as fast as possible, and 2 out of 3 killers run noed anyway (and noone did totems, as always). They down one, you unhook him with borrowed time and dont care about getting caught.
challenge done.

I got it in like... 4-5 tries. It's doable

Meh, I think I got it in my third game.
I was playing bill on a swamp map. The Oni I was playing against was camping the basement to guarantee his kill. I took a hit ran down the basement, hooked with BT and I got hooked myself. I did later die, but that was just because one of my teammates refuse to unhook me even when the Oni left the basement.

Its rage inducing no doubt.
I hope they never bring this challange again.

It’s difficult but not impossible. Just do what I did and be a Blendbush. Do gens, totems, and heal others while never letting the killer see you. Once one door is open, hide until they hook a potato.
It gave me trouble, just no where near as much as a later one of Blinding the Killer 4 times. OMG. I wanted to rip the hair out of the head of the dev that though that it was a good challenge. Only reason I got it was because Ghostface was nice.
Now I have to blind him while he’s carrying a survivor. ;_;

I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time. @sulaiman gave you some great tips for getting the challenge done ingame. Genrush, then when the exit gates are powered, hide. Let someone else work on a gate while you wait for the killer to find and down someone. If they 99 the gate, open it to start the EGC and go in for the save. Borrowed Time can be helpful, as they mentioned, as can Adrenaline, so you can be sure to be at full health in case you need to tank a hit on the way to the hook, and No One Left Behind, which will help you get the hook save and keep an eye on what's going on with the other survivors after the gates are powered.
It could also be helpful to let your teammates know in the pregame lobby that you're going for the challenge and to leave endgame hooks to you. Most people will be understanding, since we're all in the same boat here and everyone knows how difficult some of these challenges can be.

I would just like to apologise for the very whiny nature of this thread, I was angry after a particularly bad game and didn't think much before posting, I'm sure I could have made this thread more constructive.
@sulaiman @Fibijean thanks for the advice, I'm just gonna try and get this challenge over and done with, so than I can put this behind me. The only challenge I have left that I want to do will be the spine chill one, and after this madness, I wouldn't mind being a Blendette for a few games.

I almost forgot to ask, would you mind telling me what rank you were when you got it?

Fair enough. Don't worry about the thread - everyone gets angry and frustrated every once in a while, especially when there's something that's really important to you and you can't seem to do anything about it. I totally understand where you're coming from, and I genuinely hope you have good luck with the challenges! 😊
If you get really stuck, you can always post in the Looking For Players section on the forums (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/looking-for-players), and see if there are any forum members who would be willing to SWF just for a match or two to help you complete the challenge.

I didn't find it to be that bad honestly. Being a solo survivor can be tough but it's usually not unplayable.
I can't help but feel you are exaggerating the problem of getting to the egc though. I rarely see someone immediately leave when it starts or having Killers DC that often.
I also get to the EGC a lot, especially if I'm using Spine Chill. Also, make sure you have borrowed time. I didn't the first time I went for this challenge and it ended poorly. Lol

Thank you.
I've considered doing that, but I'm not very good with social interactions(hence why I relate so heavily to Claudette), plus I told my parents that I'd considered doing that and I think they'd rather me not get help from people I don't really know, so I try to avoid stuff like that for their sake.

That's fair enough. Do your best with the suggestions above then, and good luck! Don't forget, if you get too frustrated, it's okay to take a break and come back to it, and you'll probably have an easier time completing the challenge if you do.

I may have been exaggerating a little, I was just salty after bad game and for some reason thought a rant thread was a good idea :p
The issue I'm having isn't that my teammates leave straight away, just that they don't stay long enough to get hooked, sorry for the confusion.

I am not sure, somewhere between 9 and 4 i think. Doesnt really matter, because you get potato-allies at every rank, as well as random killer ranks.

this is a challenge I wouldn't bother going for specifically because all its gonna do is piss you off

The survivor challenges I struggled with was the flashlight blind while killer carries a survivor and the Spine Chill one.
Just bring borrowed time.
