Has anything been done to improve console ping?
Maybe for about week or so (or perhaps a little longer) I've been consistently getting green ping survivor lobbies - maybe 6 or 7 out of 10 would have under 80ms ping. In comparison, I'm used to 150 - 200 on average with 1 out of 20 games going below 100.
Have there been some recent connectivity improvements? Can I expect this to last?
For reference, I live in London, UK and I think my internet is pretty decent, without knowing the exact specs.
P.S. If there has been an update, I just want to say thanks.. This is really nice :)

I've had the opposite experience in NA Xbox.
Used to get green ping, 60-80 ms and now I can only find yellow ping, 150-200 ms

I think you’re just getting lucky and finding killers with better internet than normal. Consoles don’t have dedicated servers yet so you’re reliant on your killer running something better than a microwave oven for WiFi.

I don't know.. I see your point, but it seems too consistent to be a coincidence. I know it's not dedicated servers, but I was wondering whether there has been some other optimisation.
Either way, I'm not going to complain, that's for sure!
Has anyone else experienced recent changes in average pings? PS4 by the way, i forgot to specify in the post

Don't know if i can say i have or not. I play killer so I'm host and my internet is pretty decent

I gotta agree with what Lord said, it's extremely luck based. Also, playing at certain times also seems to yield different results.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm just imagining things. I refused to play survivor for a long time, because of the constant rubber banding and input delay, but it's really nice to enjoy both roles again.

Do you still play on that? We might go against each other someday :)

Yes, I do!

100 the same here. And the killer queue times are AWFUL

Purely coincidence. There haven't been any changes to reduce ping- it's not something we can actually reduce easily. The ping is the amount of time it takes for data to get between you and the server (killer, for PS4/Xbox) or vice versa. This is all down to how far they are from you, how good their connection is, whether or not they're on wi-fi, etc. You'll probably notice a huge decrease when consoles eventually get dedicated servers, though.

Thanks for replying. That makes sense. Perhaps recently there have been more people playing in the UK region. Either way - thanks guys for all you're doing :)

Why does console still have no dedicated servers btw? its more needed on console then other platforms because of the many wifi connections.
can we expect them before 2021? you guys even don't mention it if we don't ask. thats kinda sad.

I seriously wish we had them, I could care less about the whole "dedicated hits" or whatever PC players are saying because waiting in a lobby as survivor for a good 10 minutes to get a terrible ping is just annoying.
