Tome 1 Level 4 is out and just as mental as we expected
Easiest grind challenges of the entire Tome so far... but the ones that hold lore are still just as impossible as we expected them to be.
Pretty. Good. Job. So. Far.
Guess I'll just grind through the rest and look up the lore on YouTube like a normal person.
Did they not get the hundred or so memos we left en mass that stated many of those "complete in a single trial" challenges are beyond mental and need heavy reevaluating? Sure, a small handful of folks here appear to like them, but the mass majority here have overwhelmingly given negative feedback regarding them. C'mon, devs. Seriously.

Specifically talking about:
6 ft Under: sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement in a single trial
Hungry Jaws: 6 bear trap catches in a single trial
But also the non-lore:
Dark Senses: Finish 4 gens with Dark Sense in a single trial
Agitated Advantage: Hook 5 survivors in the basement using Agitation in a single trial
Every single other one is shockingly easy, but these... bruh.
16 -
Well time to use a full gen rush build with dark sense sorry killers
18 -
Those are also not too hard. Not done in the first Trial maybe, but nothing that is nearly impossible to do so.
5 -
Even with a build like that, you almost need bad teammates to get this one. It already took me like 15 matches to get the one with 3 gens.
19 -
in a single trial
13 -
They don't seem that difficult tbh though.
The Dark Sense one is really not that bad. Just get on a gen when it is finishing and you'll get a point toward it. Just go full stealth/Spine Chill and you won't really have to worry much about it.
1 -
6 feet under: just keep playing until you eventually get it (it gets hurled by DCs tho);
hungry jaws: farm
agitated advantage: farm
dark senses: heh, I done it many times in these days, due to awful matchmaking, but yeah, it's hard
These are the easiest way to do it.
4 -
Yeah, but it does not have to be on first try. I mean, come one, no need to be finished with the Challenges after two days, once again.
3 -
I like your enthusiasm. But not even a Bubba's Basement build with nitwit new survivors is going to pull off those basement challenges.
Semi-intelligent survivors have learned over the past 3 levels to avoid traps the moment they realize they're facing a Trapper.
And Dark Senses is going to require an SWF, full-bore, unless you have a miracle game where killer flat-out ignores you and absolutely nobody else is running gens.
5 -
Eh can't be bothered to do any of these challenges no point of them once you reach tier 70
6 -
How do you convince survivors to let you hook them 5 times in basement?
4 -
just farm like people usually farm just throw on a anniversary cake or a streamers and just lead the survivors to the basement
1 -
I agree on 6 ft. under and dark senses, the other ones are possible.
4 -
You know that you only need to sit on the Gen when its finished, do you?
I mean, I got this with 5 gens a few days ago, I was sitting on all of them, because I am a filthy Genrusher.
Like I said, it will not be done in the first try, but it is not impossible to do.
1 -
You let them stun you as many times as they want, then when the hooking farming starts you bring them to the basement.
0 -
Shouldn't have to farm any of these. That's just bad design, seeing as how it is technically supposed to be against their rules. But that's the point, you're right: some will require farming (and the random hope that you get a group willing to farm instead of toying with you and having their own challenges to obtain.
4 -
Oh, so it's not the Tome you find mental, some Challenges are.
0 -
Or they could change the challenge to: Find a group of non-toxic survivors willing to bend rules instead of playing the game how it's supposed to be played. Kinda feels odd gaining game lore that way. *shrug*
1 -
Just a curious question. Didnt you see it spoiled when tome 1 came out?
0 -
Yup, just had hope after their redo of Lvl 3 that they'd learned something from the feedback. Go figure. Swing and a miss.
3 -
When do they ever really learn? I mean they readied bug sounds. A game that literally needs sound, but they have no mention of it being worked on.
3 -
They removed unhooking during EGC, getting kills with NOED, getting flashlight saves, ect. God forbid if there's *some* hard challenges though. Five hooks in the basement isn't hard, neither is four sacrifices. The only thing that makes them hard is DCs. I can agree that the 6 traps may be difficult but that's the point. They changed a lot of the challenges.
3 -
Hungry Jaws is easy is the survivors are cooperative
6ft under ? Basement Bubba.
I agree with you for the other two, it's insane.
0 -
Don't kill me but I like the challenges there are now. The most difficult for me are those of the basement and those of the 4 gens, I do not like the challenges that depend on an absurd RNG and it can take you more than 20 games to get them.
In general I like them, they are entertaining, they force you to play, they depend on you and they are not as frustrating as I thought it would be, very satisfied in general
1 -
Assuming people know you want to farm sure.
2 -
I didn't know this meant farming
1 -
I assume he's thinking you can message them to let them know. Which is fine unless you're set to private like I am.
2 -
Doesn't the 6 ft. Under one kind of urge killers to camp? That's not good for the game. Idk how I'm going to get that one. I hate camping and tunneling and I'm a mediocre killer. Sigh. Can anyone who's gotten that one let us in on how you did it?
1 -
Came across a basement bubba, not sure if he was trying to do a daily...but he found me first and brought me to the basement. I gave up on first hook to save my Survivors from the same fate, but they apparently were still clueless. And two of them ended up DCing rather than being hooked in the basement. So he got 3 basement hooks, if he was doing 6 feet under, sucks to be him.
1 -
I'd recommend a hag personally. use long range addons and set 3-4 traps in the entrance to basement + one just past the survivor who is hooked (to catch someone who thinks they're safe now that they're at the survivor). unless someone's running urban evasion you're going to be alerted someones coming in and can get in range to jump them or prevent them from saving their ally from the get go. It's at least slightly more reliable than camping killer with insidious as you can pressure other survivors while person on hook is dying rather than hoping someone doesn't notice you beforehand.
1 -
I agree. I bought the rift pack or whatever its called but i won't buy it anymore because im a casual player and although i can beat the challenges, i dont play enough to where i can complete them from difficulty.
2 -
I’ve done most of the killer challenges and the only one that looks hard is kill four survivors in the basement.
0 -
Those...are not that hard. I got the 4 basement in my first week of playing..
Bear traps are surprisingly easy if you know how to place them.
5 hooks in basement again, is easy. Dont camp.
The only one I see being tough is 4 gens simply because without a party of 4 you cant account for all the gens.
Jesus everyone wants CHALLENGES to be handed to them these days...
1 -
"Oh my gawd, I can't do it on my first attempt. TOO HARD!"
6 -
Big difference between a challenge and absolute agony through fruitless repetition. If you can pull these off willy-nilly so easily, then congrats... you win a cookie, I guess. But the vast majority of folks apparently do not have your RNG blessings.
3 -
"I wAnT a ChAlLeNgE!"
Go find a match that's not thrown or ruined do to a Tome challenge... there's you a true challenge.
5 -
I’ll be honest, outside the dark sense one this is my favorite level of the Tome. Nice mix of doable and challenging without being completely bonkers. No stupid levels of grind either. I’m going to enjoy doing these
2 -
Already did.
1 -
Cookie for ya'. I haven't.
1 -
I'm not even going to try for most. Four gens in a single trial I have done a couple times but it was when I was lower ranks and it also just needs to be that special game where the stars align, or a SWF, which I don't play. I should max out the tome but that's just based on grinding, which isn't fun for me. I doubt I'll be buying any more of the Tomes or battle passes or whatever the cool kids are calling it these days.
3 -
Reminder: You can always dink gens. I don't think you need to do 400%.
1 -
4 sacrifices in basement will be the sucks with DCs
3 -
Exactly. It should be 4 kills in the basement not sacrifices. When I was doing the "kill obsession 4 times," I had 2 dcns and both counted, but when I had dcns with the sacrifice ones, they didn't count. They need to account for dcns.
3 -
Why do people keep acting like the game was played better before the challenges came out?
Many Survivors have always farmed each other off hook, especially unsafely. Many Killers have always camped and/or tunneled. Many Survivors have always sat around and let their allies die on hook just because they couldn't be bothered. Many Killers have always slugged. Many Survivors and Killers have always not cared about the game.
What is new exactly? What have the challenges changed?
2 -
You got it in your first week of playing because you were playing against potatoes... You have to be way more precise and careful about the moves you make and that you even get a hook in the basement; most of the time experienced survivors will try and steer away from the basement if they know they’re going down and it’s a killer that can cause extreme pressure once one is in there.
Haven’t tried it yet but I’ll probably go for billy or hag. Getting 5 hooks in the basement was done first attempt though; but that’s because I paired iron grasp with agitation.
3 -
Quick off topic question: I assume I'm 'safe' to move onto tier 4 without finishing flashlight-save challenge?
1 -
I havent gotten the challange due to the last guy ALWAYS Disconnecting because they figure out what Im doing.
But I run Agitation and Iron grasp and play normal.
You dont have to hook them every single time in the basement.
Just sacrifice .
So no camping needed.
1 -
4 Gens in one trial is just madness on top of the killer ones! Welp RIP the dream.
2 -
That’s right. As long as some path to the end of the tier is completed you can move on. I’m on tier 4 and don’t have any of the flashlight challenges done. I’m terrible at aiming!
2 -
It's as easy as it can get, have you seen the old tome when they released the archives? It's a nightmare.
This new one is good, so far I've finished all the survivors challenges in the lv4 tome, only find sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement is quite RNG but doable, everything else is pretty casual.
