Timeout penalty reminiscent of Halo 3
Back in the day Halo 3 makers Bungie tried to implement a timeout penalty similar to what DBD is doing now. Basically after so many "quits" you would receive a timeout penalty and wouldn't be allowed to enter matchmaking.
Bungie encountered the same problem as users of DBD have. You go to start a game and then you freeze on loading, forcing you to force kill the game. In Halo 3 you would get thrown out of the game and into a new queue.
All of a sudden a lot of people started receiving bans, including myself and I had never quit once! Bungie allowed you to look at your stats online and I discovered I had "quit" over 30 times even though I never did! What did I do? I stopped playing.
Eventually Bungie realized that this was happening to a lot of people and reversed the timeout penalty and only then did I start playing again. I see a similar trend in DBD but I hope that I'm wrong!
I can't count the number of times I've frozen on loading or my husband has frozen, even when we are sitting in the same room loading the same match!
