Are survivors really just skins?

Wanted to see a opinion on this because ive seen people play off survivors as just being reskins. But some of them seem to have advantage i mean bill is way louder i feel then jake. Claudette is good at hiding in darker maps. And idk about other survivors. Just wondering what you guys think are survivors just skins or do they have advantages?

They're skins in the sense that you can play every survivor with the same perks and get the fundamentally same experience. That being said, you're correct that models and voices do make some differences in how they play. I do consider them skins though because of what I said, while if you ran the same perks on every killer you'd still get a fundamentally different experience playing each of them because of how different their powers are.

Survivor's typically have somewhat of an advantage when it comes to hiding. But I think most people play them for certain reasons. 1: Cosmetics they can actually see. 2: Playing with friends and 3: they want to make the killer look hard for them or try and bully.

If I'm being perfectly honest, I'd love to see if survivor's had their own passive abilities. Nothing over-powered. But say Claudette is able to heal the others at a more efficient rate. You know, things that work with the style of perks they have. Because I'll be honest, I'm kind of tired of hoping survivor's I go against are decent enough to out mind game me or aren't complete push overs

Visually, male survivors are larger and run in a way that makes them seem slower compared to female survivors. I believe Jane is the only female survivor with a different frame.

Difference between male/female is height & volume of their breathing/grunts of pain. And within them they also have differences between each other. Otz actually has a video on his secondary youtube channel comparing them all.

that might be a problem since megs a athlete idk what theyd give her they cant make her run faster then other survivors nor make her recover from exhaustion faster theyd be overpowered.

Nah, don't make her run faster. Maybe let her wiggle be a bit more effective. Like I said, just an idea and I did say not to make things too over powered for them.

What if we just got rid of perk ranks altogether and made it so that perks, native to a survivor would function full strength on them, kinda like rank 3 perks do now. And teachables have a slight nerf, similar to current rank 1-2.

I mean, perk ranks are just bp padding, and even that has lost its utility with how many perks there are now. And beside that, ranking perks up is in all cases either absolutely useless (e.g. spine chill), or absolutely mandatory, so that no one ever uses it at lower rank.

Careful rebalancing of native/taught perk strength could add some flavour to indiviual survivors without gonking up balance too much. And if you need bp padding you could always just increase their cost in the web.

There are minor differences with the survivors

I would like to see a 4th tier perk progression for the individual survivor teachables.... it would feel more realistic imo

In my opinion, the survivors are not exactly skins

Some survivors are louder than others, while some are quieter

Some are larger, some are skinnier

Some are tall, some are short

One is shaped like a pear, the others are humanly shaped

If you mean that doing the same for killers would nerf some strats, heavily reliant on teachables, well yes. But you could either leave perk ranks for killers or rebalance native/teachable difference so that the nerf wouldn't be so jarring.

Or, if you say that killers would not appreciate some perks being stronger on specific survivors, then I raise an objection - I think that knowing at a glance just from the skin what specific perks survs are more likely to run is a substantial strategical advantage,

Even if they weren't overpowered, and only like a 2% increase or something, some players would still demand people play certain survivors and there would be more toxicity. And then there would be a "meta" and it would just make some Survivors "worse" choices that some players will not play with.

Unfortunately, that's true. But it also comes down to if someone picks a certain killer that they don't want to "play against" they'll DC. I had this happen while I was playing ghost face (I think it was maybe my 3-4th actual game of playing him) and someone was streaming. He and his buddy DC'd because "we don't want to play against another ghost face." (After each game as killer if someone is streaming I rewatch it just to see their perspective and reactions.) I looked back and they didn't play against a ghost face the entire time he was streaming.

There have been rumors that some survivors, like feng min, actually have smaller hitboxes than other survivors. Of course this is difficult to test, and is likely impossible to truly measure. Essentially, all survivor work the same way. Male survivors tend to be larger, making them easier to spot, but many tiles are big enough for them to stealth effectively. Each survivor sounds unique, regardless of gender. Ace for example is incredibly quiet, meanwhile Jane and Bill are impossible to miss if they're injured. Each survivor has different minor attributes, but they all run and loop the same way.

Nobody has smaller hit boxes. Don’t spread false information.

No, as nancy you got a 100% higher chance to mess up while looping.
