Now I’m toxic because I run away from the basement?
I’ve seen messages here and there on the forum referring to people who run away from basement as toxic when they know the killers needs it for the trophy and I was messaged the same thing. I’ve never been one to body block, dcn, teabag, etc., but it seems there are always new ways for survivors to be called toxic. It’s such an ambiguous term. I was playing as Kate on Freddy map and I use Boil which I’ve been using long before the challenges. That school basement is a great place for the trapper to camp and get all his kills. He was hooking everyone in there and he had that place trapped like crazy and he was patrolling the halls like a nasty hall monitor. I tried to rescue people but either he or traps would impede my progress. He would always find me and I’d run away in the other direction. He caught me several times but could not get me to the basement. So I’m toxic now because I run the other way and won’t give him an easy basement hook/kill? I don’t expect anything handed to me by killers. If a killer messaged and asked me for help then yeah I’d prolly do it.

Because most of the time, basement is easier to control than freely standing hooks. It might not always be a challenge. Most trappers like it because, trap the stairs and any doorway escape and you can catch the survivor coming for the rescue or otw out. It’s not toxic in my opinion but I also rarely hook basement or try to.

Using your intelligence to survive is not toxic. I too would run away from the basement if I noticed a basement build. I don't care about challenges especially not challenges of OTHER PEOPLE. It's THEIR challenge so THEY have to figure out how to do them.

If you're the last survivor alive and it's clear the killer is trying for the Six Feet Under challenge.
Catches you and passes other hooks just to hang you in the basement.
You wiggle free and run as far away from the basement as you can.
Yes, you are an #########. Is it okay to be an #########? Yes. Just don't pretend you're not.

Yeah, at that point I would give the killer his final basement hook.
Just yesterday I was playing a hag that was going for it. I was on my death hook anyways so I didn't struggle as we traveled a long way to the basement. 4th survivor got the hatch though...

Honestly, it isn't toxic. The guy was probably just frustrated as getting the 6 feet under challenge is hsrd as #########.

I disagree. That's like saying that if a tombstone myers is after me and I jump into a locker to force him to hook me, I'm toxic. i absolutely am not. It's a counterplay.
It's not up to survivors to completely killer challenges, and it's not up to killers to facilitate survivor challenges. You're not toxic for running away from the basement if there are other hooks nearby. Period.

Explain how in the world that’s being a toxic survivor for trying to escape? Just because you’re the last you should forfeit all will?
Ludicrous lmao.

I specified two requirements.
Last Survivor
Passing other hooks.
If they weren't going for the challege the survivor would be dead anyways. Only reason at that point is to deny someone a challenge. That's being an #########.
I'm not saying you should do it. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong when it comes to how the game is supposed to be played. Just don't think that doing so isn't being an #########.

[edit] I misread
Survivor Final Objective = ESCAPE, NOT “complete killer challenge”

Read a little closer.

Just ignore them, to some killers a survivor who is just trying to play the game is toxic. Imagine, a survivor actually trying to survive, how dare they.
A survivor trying to avoid the basement is a good strategy, especially against the Trapper, Hag and Leatherface as once you're hooked in the basement it's hard to leave the basement.

Problem with people and that challenge they just race everyone they catch straight to the basement making it obvious what they are doing. Plus I expect them to camp or least sit nearby waiting for the save notification so they can rush right in. Why would I even go near the basement at that point?
Besides - rule number one for any survivor should be 'don't get hooked in the basement ever'.

I’ve learned that the hard way. I wish I kept track of how many of my matches turned on a dime because someone got hooked in the basement. Boil Over may not be the best perk but it has saved me from getting hooked in basement many times. It’s my yeah go ahead and try to hook me in basement perk.

Ignore it. Unless you're disconnecting you're not toxic. But welcome to DBD, where playing the game properly = toxic.
