Why aren’t all vaults with the run button down fast vaults?
I don’t understand why a killer can do a 180 lunge and get a down across a pallet while being stunned or hit me 5 feet past a window but I can’t run through a window if I come in at an angle. It’s a constant source of aggravation. I run to a window and basically crawl through it and the killer gets a grab or a down. Why is this necessary?
If I choose to hold down the run button near a window, why can’t I run through it quickly, no matter the angle or current speed. I can break into a run instantly so why can’t I run through a window instantly at any time?

I'd love to see you try to hurl yourself at a right angle through a window sometime.
But I know realism is a bad argument for balancing games so the true answer is because when you could fast vault from any angle windows were too strong. So they took it away. Easy. Either have the distance to get through the window or go down. If you don't think you'll have the distance, either don't vault or accept you might get hit.

Old fast vaults were busted as hell. They essentially created infinites and made looping braindead easy. It isn't even hard to get fast vaults right now... just make sure you're moving forward toward the window for at least a second and you'll be fine.

They added things like the momentum mechanic to stop abuses of certain windows if not looped properly. It's a good QOL change.

You can fast vault any window you desire, if you practise it a bit. Here an example:

Medium vaults were added because always having fast vaults created a lot of infinite loops.

There are medium, fast and slow vaults. You need to be running at a window perpendicularly for about 2.5 meters to get a fast vault. Otherwise it will be a medium vault. Both are running vaults. Slow vault is performed without holding a sprint button

Sound like you’re either getting dedicated server’d or just connect problems. Remember though, killers have arms. Fast vaults can be done with timing and finding the right angle in limited space, just requires some time to figure out the right position. Imagine always being able to fast fault at any angle, yeah fat no. Just practice and you’ll get better with fast vaults :)
If vaults are a huge problem for you though I’d recommend resilience or spinechill.

The question is way you always lose momentum at vaults. I honestly get hit 90% of the vaults cause the game says my Hit Box is stuck at the vault location. Or using DH, If it works, causes me to lose any advantage at vaults. Vaults are broken. Same with pallets. Hits through stuns all day long. Or i cannot vault cause i slide away. The game is so broken on several levels.

Yeah it's totally BS. I think you should always be able to fast vault and there should be more safe loops and more pallets on the map. The game favors the killer too much.

That got nerfed long ago, Mate. Don't spread misinformation.
It's why you can't Fast vault cow tree in the opposite direction anymore. It's to prevent those tight corridor fast vaults.
Though there are still maps that you could fast vault like Ironworks.

I mean there's 3 different types of vaults in the game.
Fast Vault
If a Survivor runs straight towards a Window for at least 2.5 meters, they will quickly vault over the Window and continue running without losing speed. This vault will take 0.5 seconds
Medium Vault
If a Survivor attempts to quickly climb through a Window but they don't have enough momentum or do it at an angle, they will quickly climb over the Window. This vault will take 0.9 seconds
Slow Vault
If a Survivor walks up to a Window and climbs through it, the vault will be slow and quiet. This vault will take between 1.3-5 seconds
Hope this data clears some issues you had.

You can still fast vault the cow tree, it's just harder, and you waste time lining up for it, so the killer usually still gets the hit

Because that would remove any skill from vaulting. In the early days of dbd you could do that and windows were op af.

Thanks for (some of) the feedback. I started playing this about a year ago so I’ve never experienced the “broken” vaults. I see the point of it turning every vault area into a tough loop. I still think the medium vaults are too slow though.
As for the guy who has to turn my question into an insult using the WELL OVERUSED “entitlement” epithet... perhaps consider not regurgitating the same old toxic garbage. If you think killers don’t display the same sense of what you call “entitlement” you’re deluding yourself. Both sides expect a certain amount of fairness, quality and fun in their game and so work toward improving their experience.

I think it is fast enough as is. I could maybe see giving it a small speed buff. Nothing that would make an unsafe vault safe though. Just a QoL thing.

You can’t always “just hit it right”. If you turn a corner while hugging a wall and a window is right there you have to maneuver out and back at it. Just one example. And yes, as others have noted, I know how to reorient myself to turn a med vault into a fast vault but sometimes you just can’t so you either run past it or give the medium vault a shot... anyhow... I get it. All fast vaults is too strong. Fair enough.

Lol you can't do a fast vault while looping it normally like before. So yes, Not possible.
