Why is there only 1 hitbox on survivors (a giant square)?

Why not add different hitboxes for the arms, legs, torso and the head?

That would be really jank to manage. Imagine you only got hit because of bad running animation RNG.

Many Unreal Engine games have problems with "hitboxes" and that's due to the way the engine handles collisions. It's not very good to say the least.

So by making it a simple box they are actually making collision more consistent, especially across multiple different survivors.

If they did collision the way most UE games did then some survivors would have a clear advantage over others and the "hitboxes" would indeed be much worse.

As bad as it is, it's better than the alternatives.

actually, the survivor hitbox isnt a square, its a pill instead.

the reason why this isnt a thing is pretty easy: looping.

the current hitbox is about the size of your torso and the standart height of every survivor, so arms and legs stick out of it. this allows you to squeeze past objects a lot more smoothly. addind arm and leg hitboxes that match the actual playmodel, you would be unable to turn corners as swiftly as you can now, therefore this change would greatly reduce your ability to loop around objects.

and not only that, this would also give female survivors an unfair advantage over the male versions, as they are a lot smaller, therefore they would be harder to hit than the male survivor.

    conclusion:

even though some huntress hits may look weird, the current hitboxes favor survivors a lot more than "fixed" hitboxes would.

It's actually a pill shape, not square.
