Devs, please
This one time, you need to hear the community out, or else you'll start destroying the game.
Hiding the ranks of other players on the Tally Screen does not fix the broken matchmaking. It might be an even more serious problem than the changes to Ruin. Now that Ruin will get changed, queue times at red ranks will become increasingly longer, causing the matchmaking to perform even worse. I assume you knew this was gonna happen, because it sounds odd that you made both changes on the same patch out of coincidence.
Please hear what this game's veterans have to say, they really know a lot about this game and have balancing in their hearts. You have already ignored the community last time with the Nurse changes, if you do it this time around, you'll end up destroying the game, and us, fans and players of this game, are trying to save Dead by Daylight.

This is one of the most kindly worded posts on the topic, and you clearly care a lot about the game's success. I think that's great and I commend you for it.
For your own sake, though, and the sake of the game, since you obviously think this is something the devs need to take very seriously, I would implore you to wait until the official patch notes are released, and ideally until the changes have released on the PTB and had a chance to be tested in practice, before giving any feedback. Not because what you have to say now is invalid, but simply because if you do that, your feedback is far more likely to be taken seriously and not dismissed as just jumping the gun.

That's true, but I'm afraid the Devs won't change much for the final release, that's the example they set.
I would really appreciate if they heard us out this time, and will certainly form my final opinion after the PTB is released.

I would encourage you to post about it again then! I don't know what they'll change and what they won't, but I do know they'll put a lot more store by feedback that is given by people who have read the patch notes and tested the changes for themselves.

If they want to make this change to Ruin, they'd first have to fix map design so that killers have a shot at applying pressure onto the Survivors without them getting "genrushed".
I agree it's complicated to think of a way to rework this perk as of now, and that's why it virtually can't be reworked at the current times.
The Devs largely ignore the veterans of their own game, and mainly consider the opinions of survivor mains, but I hope they are trying to change that.
Playing Killers at Red Ranks is difficult because of the many survivor-sided maps and fast generator speed.
Both issues have to be addressed so that Ruin can be reworked in a fair way.

You're right, but last time a significant amount of players played the PTB, including myself and some friends, and various killer mains, but their opinion was seemingly ignored. I don't know what criteria the Devs use, or if they think they know it better or something like that. I understand it is not easy to make everyone happy.

No one has said that people have no right to complain, and I specifically said in my comment that the complaints the OP has are not invalid simply because he hasn't tested the changes yet.
I agree that a lot of what has been announced so far is worrisome, but it's still a fact that a well-informed opinion holds more weight, so the more information players have before giving their opinion, the more likely it is to be taken seriously by the developers.

Yeah, I agree it can be disheartening to feel ignored even when you go to the trouble of giving well thought-out, constructive feedback. Like I said, I don't know what they will change, but I think you definitely have the best chance of being heard if your feedback is backed up by first-hand experience.

Totally true

Vets already spent their money. Need new blood with fat Steam Wallets to buy more cosmetics.

I really appreciate their work at trying to balance the game out, but it sometimes feels like they are doing it "wrong" on purpose, partly because they ignore us.
0 -
That's true, unfortunately. It sometimes feels like they just want "big, fat, cash", sorry for the wording.

That sounds really sucky, I'm sorry you had that experience 🙁 I don't know what they're thinking half the time, either. I wish we got more information about why they make certain decisions, honestly, and I hope they'll give us more when it comes to the issues you brought up.
Most of the time, I assume that they know something we don't, because after all, we don't have the same "big picture" view that they have - we don't have access to the same data, and we don't know what their plans for the game are in the long term.
But in the meantime, all we can do is wait for the most advantageous time to tell them honestly what we think, and hope that they will see fit to take that feedback on board.

Yup, that's what we can go after all. I would also like to have these background informations so that we could know the reasons behind all this.
If all these changes implied by the leaked patch notes actually go live, then it'll be sad to see that the Devs really gave up on fixing the matchmaking and want us to stop complaining. I suppose it's their intention with the tally screen change.

Rank has been a joke in the game for the most part since the beginning for the simple fact of SWF. They can't place them properly in the Match Making and it ruins it.
Maybe them taking rank out of the summary screen is them moving a step forward to remove rank from the game..
Maybe it will lead to something else... Like 2 queues... a casual queue and a ranked solo queue?
Who knows.
0 -
I don't think so. They told us they would be reworking ranks this year, so they'll most likely not remove them. I seriously think they are doing that so that we can't complain about the matchmaking and they don't need to fix it.
But true, SWFs have a huge influence on the matchmaking, making it progressively worse.
0 -
Yeah, I'm hoping that part was inaccurate, because otherwise I have no idea what they're thinking there. If it does turn out to be true, I hope that they'll at least give some explanation for why they decided to make such a change.
0 -
Yup, but I doubt they will in case it is true. They wouldn't want the community to think they are trying to censor our opinions or "shut us up".
0 -
Yeah, I meant after they release the patch notes. If they release the official patch notes and the rank thing is actually in there, I hope they'll follow it up with some explanation as to why.
0 -
Well this could be part of them reworking it....
If they were getting allot of complaints about match making... with ranks being the crux of the problem.
If they don't have the rank rework done... Why not just take out the summary part to help remove a bunch of the complaints until it is done.
Makes sense to me. If anything it just shows they are working on it, probably just isn't done yet.
It will just be one less thing for people to complain about until it is reworked.
0 -
Yeah, but I think they won't. They want to keep earning money from new players who buy skins and DLCs, so they wouldn't publicly assume they want to "shut the community up".
They mainly balance out the game so that Survivors have fun on every level because new players commonly play survivor, and survivor mains are a majority in this game. They also need to decrease the skill cap needed to play survivor properly to make the game easier to new players.
We have too much evidence this is their intention, and this really upsets me.
1 -
Maybe, but I think this is the optimistic theory. I would really like to think that's true, but we have far more evidence the other theory is accurate.
0 -
Time will tell, I suppose. All we can do at this point is wait and see how everything unfolds 🤷
0 -
You're right, but we can speculate, or can we?
Based on previous examples, it is partly reasonable to assume the worst, or assume they won't ever tell the community what truly led them to doing this.
0 -
Yeah I am waiting to see what they do with the PTB, I am not going to jump to any conclusions until then.
However I will be clear. If they actually do hide the ranks, it will be a very clear message from the devs about how flawed of character they are, and I will no longer trust them. It may be what drives me from the game for good, because despite all the game's issues as long as I feel I can trust the devs somewhat, I will stay on board.

Also think so.

allegedly? How does that work?

Seemingly, they didn't take what we said into consideration, the letter went deep into that.
0 -
Yeah, there have been tons of people asking for some very small QoL improvements and bug fixes to demogorgon, and they have been actively ignored. At this point I assume those bugs are permanent for the life of the character.

Yeah, sadly.
