What if Ruin made gen progression slower?
The new players wouldn’t have to worry about making those pesky skill checks. And the killers would still have a useful tool against gen rush early game. A debuff on the gen speed as long as the totem is up doesn’t make it too powerful since the totem still has to be found and cleansed.
Survivors have prove thyself which increases speeds up gen progression, so why not have the opposite effect for killer?
I main survivor, but even I can see the new ruin changes are bound to create a wave of gen rushing matches without at least some slow down added.
Surely something like this added to the new ruin changes wouldn’t be too crazy?

It would be better to remove the hex aspect from it, increase gen regression by 4% and decrease it by 1% everytime a gen is done. That would make it strong at the start and weaker late in game. Sounds more viable and useful for killers, considering ruin doesn't last more then two minutes. I would also remove great skill checks from generators and simply put skill checks that avoid the explosion.

By 4%, do you mean 400%? That may be a bit too high. For every second a survivor is off a gen, they lose a second of gen progression. I can't say for sure if that's too extreme without testing it, but it does sound a bit too strong at the start.

old ruin is fine i don't even know how new players were encountering ruin in the first place cause they should be playing with new killers who don't have it and if they are in a swf and thats how they encountered it then they should see that coming and get over it. Also ruined actually gave new survivors a reason to improve and strive to be better and it gave then a goal to achieve.

Yes, that's what I meant. I think it isn't that strong, considering that the killer wastes time looking for survivors and can only chase one survivor at a time in order to get a hook. At the red ranks by the time you get your first hook at least 1 gen is done simply because you can't pressure all 4 survivors at the same time.
