Has anyone who is complaining actually played the game in the ptb?
These vent posts are getting long and a bit pathetic. “ I’m uninstalling” , “ I’m going to Mori and noed all survivors”. Please tell me these are 12 year old raging at home and not actual adults.
Also, how many of you who complained have played the game on the ptb? I saw the map and it looks so good. Clearly the devs put some time and energy into this but as with every change, everyone complains.
So if you’ve played. What do you think? I don’t care what anyone else is ranting about. Thanks.

I played a couple of killer and survivor matches and here is my CURRENT review of the whole PTB:
- doctor changes: they aren't actually that bad, they seem fun for both parties. My only complaint is how the 3 second cooldown FEELS wonky (because of the fact that there's not really an animation during that cooldown, instead it just doesn't show anything)
- ruin changes: the perk is still good, but not on the levels of old ruin; if anything the new ruin allows to shave a bit of time by removing the need to kick gens (until the totem is destryoed which so far, no one did). Didn't notice much of a difference on survivor, mostly because the killer never went around to scare off survivors
- tome 2 "reckoning": not really jazzed about it, the only good things are the elephant clown and the crackhead doctor.
- lery rework: absolutely stunning, everything about it feels great, the map design, the gameplay, totem placement; BHVR did a fine job on it

i Think all the complaints are toxic asf
4 -
Yes notice no one commented. Proves none of them have even played in the ptb. Lol
2 -
Now that is a good reply. Thanks for sharing your impressions.
1 -
Out of 4 games i played as a survivor against red rank doctors,4 people got away 2 times, and 2 times 2 people got away. My teammates were purple/red ranks. Didn't have enough time to test doc out tho
5 -
Or maybe they're insulted by the question and won't spare the effort to respond to someone that implies they don't know how to play Killer. You wouldn't listen to anyone here anyway. Go listen to any streamer that plays in red ranks. They play both Killer and Survivor and their thoughts are already out there. Even the ones that wanted a Ruin rework are wondering what the hell BHVR are thinking.
11 -
Of course most people didn't. It's easier to complain than to test things.
4 -
You mean tru3? No thanks I’ll pass. Lol
2 -
Played all day. Lerys looks amazing. Doc is still crap and ruin is completely useless.
11 -
So you already know of someone who meets your criteria...but you ignore them? 👌
9 -
I can’t dislike a streamer? He’s full of #########. Dude says every game he even remotely has to try in are “ 0.5 optimal survive with friends”. He’s a whiner and a complete boob. I can’t stand it so no, I won’t be tuning in.
sidenote. You’ve contributed nothing to my post except show how pressed and angry you are. I’m guessing you’re just not great at game. Feels bad man.
5 -
Then you don't watch his streams. He doesn't always say it,he says it when he does face good survivors he does exaggarate a bit tho with that, but if he faces bad survs he will say it
5 -
You don't have to like him to listen to him or consider his thoughts. But since you've immediately jumped to telling my how angry I apparently am I get the impression you won't listen to anything anyone says at all. I guess I'm wasting my time trying to reason with you.
3 -
Although I have complained, I've tried to stay optimistic.
I'm a console player so can't say much yet.
3 -
I've played on the PTB for most of today, and this is what I have to say:
- Dedicated servers are so much worse. I've had 0 problems with them until today. EX: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/532542481
- Static Blast is a great addition, however Shock Therapy seems to have 0 chase value and is in fact worse because of the cooldown to attack and increased speed reduction.
- I haven't gotten a single even copper gatekeeper emblem today, despite 4king with multiple gens left. They've all been the black emblem.
- New map and music are stunning. Please BHVR, give your art and sound team a raise.
- I haven't really been a Ruin enthusiast, though I believe that the new Ruin is flawed. It brings out insane 3 gen potential on defensive killers who can easily defend their hex and for offensive killers it'll already be broken by the time you get any real use out of it. Corrupt Intervention seems to be the go-to early pressure perk now.
That's all really. The bad outshines the good in my eyes.
5 -
You came in here accusing somebody of telling people they don't know how to play killer, and that people would be offended, when nobody here has said anything of the sort. Then you continue on and accuse somebody else of not being willing to listen to criticism, when they made a post asking about PTB testing.
You really haven't contributed anything to the thread, dude. Don't waste your time trying to start silly things.
0 -
The OP calls everyone complaining "pathetic" and "12 year olds." I think you need a reality check.
8 -
And where in there does it say that they can't play killer? Give me the reality check, please.
0 -
i played on the ptb and both the doctor and the new ruin is fine:) starting with doctor hes fun to play and hes not weak at all:)
now for the new ruin i would say its fine/ok But its not useless i was just against a swf team that were salty and they did not find ruin the whole time:D and i won
1 -
They very basic question of asking them if they played the PTB in the first place is an implicit accusation. You might as well be asking "lol have you even played the game?" News flash: Even without playing the PTB it's easy to see how this affects gameplay. What extra conclusion are you expecting after they've played it? Do you think they're going to radically change their minds when they find out they were right before they even played it? No, it was a loaded question from the start.
Furthermore, your reality check needs to come from realizing you just accused someone of trying to "start silly things" when the person who started the thread opened their first paragraph by painting anyone that disagrees with them as a child. Get a clue.

Not everybody plays the PTB. I even admittedly don't because I just am too lazy to sign up for it. That's the thing. Even if people do play it, there was literally people complaining about it before the PTB was even released. You're just reading too far into it. The point of that question is that there's plenty of people that are forming opinions without actually being privy to all the information. It's childish to do something like that. It's childish to put words into somebody's mouth, like saying they're implying somebody doesn't know how to play killer. Perhaps you're not trying to start something, but the only other option is that you're too stupid to realize that what you're accusing him of saying isn't what he actually said. That's why he calls out this group of individuals children. Because they act like it. And what extra conclusion could they make? People find new things out all the time, even on live servers. People just need to get their hands on the material to figure things out more completely. The OP also never once said that anybody who disagrees with their opinion is a child. Only those who are complaining without having actually knowing what the PTB is like.
You're just trying to inject your own thoughts and ideas into his original post. Sorry I don't live in your reality where everybody has to mean what you say they do. I'm done with this interaction, because I don't want to turn this into even more spam unrelated to the OP's question.
0 -
Of course they're complaining about it before PTB was even released, because they play the actual game enough to make educated guesses as to how something will change the game and why. The whys and hows have been expressed many times which is why it's not at all fair to start broadly generalizing anyone that's complaining as an angry 12 year old. In fact, you calling me stupid in your post while trying to claim I'm trying to "start something" just tells me you're projecting so hard it's disgusting.
I gave you two the benefit of the doubt and you threw a tantrum because I called you out on your insulting, degrading, and hyperbolic assertions. Of course you would posture and disengage after throwing further insults and claiming my posts are "spam." Why wouldn't you? You actually legitimately believe taking away the one method of averting gen rush without adjusting anything else is a good idea.
2 -
And also not everybody plays PC to be able to play the PTB in the first place!
These are forums, we can speak about a change as long as we are not insulting anybody
3 -
I've played it and it's the least amount of fun that I've ever had with this game. RIP to this game if the devs continue on this path of destruction.
1 -
"educated guesses"
Nuff said. I never said the ruin nerf was a "good" idea, (so just putting more words into other peoples mouths) and I never said you were stupid, only that it's the only alternative to you just being malicious and trying to put words into other peoples' mouths. There's no "retreat" here. Just gonna let you have fun being angry over made up things, buddy. :)
0 -
What kind of logic is this? You ever consider they're in the game playing the PTB instead of replying to your thread?
3 -
Oh aren't you a crafty sophist? Your insults are conditional so to you they were never really insults huh? Laughable. We'll see how this turns out for Survivors once the dust settles. What hurts one side of the playerbase hurts both sides of the playerbase. Mark my words.
0 -
Yes, I have.
The Doctor feels pretty awful. He actually got nerfed. His 3 second inability to attack actually destroys any anti-loop.
Ruin is way too weak to be a Hex. It's effect is just too weak. The totem is still destroyed early on, and it offers zero early game pressure anymore, its just not worth taking.
Lery's LOOKS amazing, but I think it will have the same problem as Yamoaka's. It's SO dark, it needs to be brighter, i'm also not a fan of how the two level area remained super safe and unchanged.
1 -
When the Doctor rework was mentioned, everyone said he was going to get nerfed, he's not in fact I believe he's really good now.
Lery's looks more amazing than I had anticipated. Definitely more even playing field in my opinion, some of the loops that were really good are still good but some have been cut off and more easy to tell where a survivor is going. Not to mention better hiding spots.
However, as for ruin. Is it worse than it was? Yes. It's having killers move around more because survivors aren't running straight into the killer, however, it doesn't really help against the gens being pumped out left and right. It only helps when the gens start going down in numbers which makes getting a gatekeeper emblem pretty damn difficult. I had a game where two gens were done and everyone was basically dead. But, no it did not give me an emblem for that.
As for the Rift I'm still going to get it, people who said they're not going to get it are problem full of themselves because we all know that new outfits are hot
Edit: Also, Oni changes. I haven't really played Oni but this might give me a reason to. However, I know I'll definitely be playing more Doctor. The amount of information you can get off of him now is amazing. Plus I don't have to keep changing stances, I can just static blast and find people

Honestly, I have tuned into his Stream, because he featured the PTB. Usually I dont watch him, because he is so negative nowadays and so whiny and complaining. Basically since he needs to put effort into being at Red Ranks, he is that way. Personally I am pretty sure that he does not have any fun on DBD anymore, but stays there for the community (not saying that he wants to have the most money out of it, but I guess he really likes his DBD-Community).
But when watching him, he said that it is a "clear nerf to Huntress" that a pile of Logs on Haddonfield now has Collision... Like.. #########? A Bugfix, a solid Object that should be solid, is a Nerf? Furthermore, on PTB there is something with the movement so that Hits which connected when the Killer is far away, should feel more smooth. He interprets that as the Killer missing more Hits. No, it should just work in a way that Hits which should have hit should not look that ridiculous on the Survivor Side.
And if someone really thinks of Bugfixes as Nerfs... Sorry, cannot take those persons seriously.
1 -
Oh aren't you a craft sophist? Your insults are conditional so they were never really insults huh? Laughable When the dust settles we'll see how this turns out for Survivors that are riding high now. The new meta will not be any more fun, I assure you. Both sides of the playerbase will suffer for this. Mark my words. By the way, you're the one threatening to retreat in case you forgot your last two posts. "I'm done with this interaction" he says, right before claiming someone else is in "retreat." You have very little if any self awareness.
P.S. I added the word "to" in an edit to my original post and the auto-moderation system ate it. So if you see a double post that's why.

I played as killer and survivor.
The good:
- The new Lery map rework is good but it felt very dark and a bit unconfortable to play as a killer.
- The new doc music (theme and chase) is okay, disturbing but not as good as demogorgon or myers music.
- With whispers, the shock blast seems useful.
- The new ruin concept is not bad but it is flawed.
The bad:
- Playing as a survivor feel very easy. Sometimes when 1 gen is left with 3-4 survivors alive, they try to mess around with the killer instead of doing gens. If the game keeps that way I will consider stop playing it.
- Playing as a killer feel overwhelming as the gens are done very fast. It is not uncommon to 4 gens gets done after only 1-2 hooks. If the game keeps that way I will consider stop playing it.
- 3-4k seems only doable with agressive methods like noed, insidious + noed, mori, camping and tunneling.
- Pop goes weasel is not usable with ruin.
What could be done:
- Devs must acknowledge that gen rush is real and it is bad for both survivors and killers.
- There is no challenge or fun of being a survivor if surviving is effortless or likely.
- The new ruin could be redone as another perk without totem.
- The old ruin could be redone by making gens much slower to be done instead of punishing using skill checks.
- The doctor 3 seconds delay could be removed.
- The blast cooldown would be okay if halved.
- Pop goes weasel should sinergy with ruin.
2 -
I played the PTB.
- Ruin is garbage.
- Static Blast is the only noticeable thing on Doctor and even that has issues.
- Madness 3 is a ######### joke now.
- The shock attack feels worse. The delay of you using your shock and the survivors reacting from it is too ######### slow.
- Survivors are still able to vault windows and pallets just after getting shocked.
- His base range increase is not noticeable at all and doesn't help half the time.
- Doctor is still add-on dependant.
The only good thing on this PTB is how the new map looks.

Well, I'jj just say, / list off some thoughts bout the changes: #1: Lerys change: I actually love this, it looks so much better than the original and it's lovely. 8.5/10. #2: Doctor changes: Well...hes somewhat decent but not like his old self, the madness part is kinda not worth doing half the time but i do it out of habit, The only thing i'd want to see changed is when you use shock therapy to have some sort of animation... just meh seeing it w/o the whole animation 7/10 maybe if they something to the animation i'd rate it higher...and lastly, #3, Ruin: Honestly...out of like the 20 / 25 games i had, i only got it to last the whole game 3 times. the other times they either spawned on it OR it got found after 2 gens were completed, so can't really say much...6.5/10 altogether..
TL:DR I just pray something good comes out of this whole ordeal of this patch, Otherwise the changes would be for not, .

Why yes I have an I can wholeheartedly say the perk is dogshit unless you get Badham Preschool. The best part about this perk is now the devs can look at reducing the map size for maps like Omega corn, sadly they butchered a very useful perk before actually solving the problem of why 80% of red ranks games had the perk but hey let's just blame people playing killer thinking is hard.
Here's why this perk is trash, it's a Hex perk. If it wasn't a Hex perk it would actually be decent and have great synergy with Corrupt intervention and surveillance but the perk has the same problem as old ruin meaning it gets destroyed even faster now (because it automatically tells people you have the perk at the start). If it wasn't a Hex and the rate was either kept the same or moved down to 1.75 times normal regression it would be worth considering but as is the greatest benefit to killers is you can write it of of your standard builds without a second thought. Btw for anyone wondering with the perk active you can't kick gens which makes it completely ruins your Pop/Overcharge. The perk isn't hopeless however, if they made it not a Hex perk it could actually be useful but alas I doubt they will and the data they take from the PTB is going to be skewed by survivors DC'ing/committing forever sleep first hook who just don't care about the game and only themselves.

Played a couple games on both sides
support all changes made and not because im some kind of dev suck up, survivor bias/killer biased player.
used to be a doctor main. now he's fun again, FOR BOTH SIDES. now people won't just dc off the bat when i play him.... along with the fact that he actually feels a lot stronger due to his map awareness and passive pressuring. he still has his counters, like early pallet drops, lockers and just generally being a m1 killer, yet he feels actually powerful to play due to being able to find people semi instantly, in order to always be actively chasing and not wasting time. Doctor removes the time crunch as killer essentialy, and even chases a bit better then lets say a ghostface or plague due to his shock. he's no nurse obvs or hell even a spirit, but i'll be damned if he isin't great now. just having the time crunch alone be gone due to being able to essentially find a chase every 60s (if you have good map awareness/are using whispers) with survivors also being slowed down by madness/having illusions spook them is just gold.
ruin feels better on both sides, deffinately noticed an effect when the killer pressured us off gens.kept us at a 4th gen for a real long time till we got to 3 gens and he had players running all the way away in order for others to work on gens closely spread together. no more being forced into great skillchecks (which mind you i can hit, i'm a rk1 player afterall or atleast i was) and feels great as killer to apply pressure and have it pay off. when i played as doc with ruin, i didn't even need thrill or anything else. its genuinely useful on its own despite what people say so long as you continuosuly apply pressure (which in the doctors case is incredibly easy to put pressure on everyone by revealing their location and remaining entirely unpredictable.)
Map is brilliant, and so is the chase music.
only thing i'd tweak? make Ruin no longer a hex perk. literally it. literally only thing it needs. its not strong enough for a hex, but is very balanced in that it requires ACTIVE pressure from the killer in order to do its bidding. it has far more synergy with other perks (ie surviellence is a good example) and is just genuinely more engaging and fun to use.
0 -
I did. Lery's is actually cool and well done. Feels balanced even tho indoor maps tend to be killer sided. Doctor, well still garbage and still annoying. Ruin dead case, gens are getting so fast done. I play solo Q and the speed is surprising me, feels like a coordinated swf group.
0 -
I'd love the new doctor, his secondary power helps u to find survivors and with whispers it's incredible
0 -
Doctor is meh, maybe worse maybe better, I never played him much.
The mapnis great, looks wise and gameplay wise so far.
Ruin is the big change, and that’s going to be the focus of this entire patch, I still think it was unneeded to go this far.
0 -
I’m a console player so I cannot play in the ptb.
0 -
What is the range of his power, and his original shock therapy
0 -
The range is his terror radious, and the shock therapy is basically the brown add on to increase the range
0 -
So shock therapy doesn’t get affected by his terror?
0 -
All the people complaining about the changes have already left the game.
2 -
No and the survivors receive no madness by standing on the terror radious also the madness gets lower when out of it
0 -
That and the ruin nerf will drive away even more killers and even new players because brutal tactics will be common place.
1 -
Your comments about Ruin are a bit awkward because it IS a Hex: Ruin. Based on the games on PTB today I can’t see it being useful in higher level play.
And for all the people talking about how the “salty SWF couldn’t find Ruin on the PTB” you all realize they aren’t cleaning Ruin on purpose
0 -
Now that I'm not trying to reason with a schizophrenic...
I got to check out the PTB through a stream and I like the new Doc changes personally. He just seems like current one without the mode switching. It's weird that they added a delay to his ability to attack, so I can see a situation that isn't a 1v1 being a little tricky, but in the stream I watched they tested a person spamming to throw down a pellet vs. Doc's attack cooldown and the Doc still got to attack first, as the survivor was disabled for longer. So it doesn't seem like it's completely useless. That's the one thing I'm worried about, but beyond that it's just mostly getting used to the way his new addons work I imagine. I'm a fan of his new chase music and whatnot too, so overall I can say that I'm at least not disappointed in the rework. Also the map is quite good looking, I'm not sure about how balanced it is though.
The rift I'm a little concerned about because I haven't actually looked through every challenge but I'm hoping that the fragments you get will make up more levels than the last tomes, because even after those I was only about a little over tier 50. I'm a fan of the new cosmetics, and even the recolors are kinda nice, like the icy look on the Hag.
I can't say much on ruin because I didn't play any games on PTB myself but it seems just meh. I wish it had more synergy with other slowing perks, or that perhaps it wasn't a hex, but I don't think it's the end of the world personally because I didn't use it in the first place very much.
