Monto vs BHVR game was embarrassing
Seriously, are these the guys that tested the Ruin changes? This isn’t a fair representation of low rank players, it was just bad. No looping skills, running away from pallets to dead areas, going down almost immediately in chases.
To too it off two of them even ran Calm Spirit assuming people would be playing Doctor on the PTB, so they had an advantage most people won’t use on live after the first week fad wears off. Which I guess is smart but also kind of sleezy and wouldn’t give an accurate feedback.

The game's? :P

can you put a link to it i would like to see this

How do we know they were actual BHVR team members? Can't anybody change their name to something like that?
But IF they were actual devs, then yeah. It was funny. Doc will probably see harsh nerfs soon due to overperforming.
11 -
um are you blind there was 3 gens remaining when Monto closed the hatch i agree that gens are done to fast though. This just shows that none of the staff know how play the game or how to balance the game. Mathew cote should make all the staff play the game at least once a week so they can have a idea what balance really is and so they understand how the game works.

This one?

thank you

I'm also guessing they all used tape recorders during their statistics lessons at University. Probably should have went in person and asked a question or 2 if I'm honest.

We know because they were rank 20 survivors.

Is this a joke? Those ppl are not really some of the dev team or? Because they are terrible. Maybe, they should talk to real gameplay experts, what they have to do to balance the game.
8 -
This is a poor representation of the staff at BHVR
Some of the BHVR employees , sadly, are low rank, while some others you will catch around higher ranks
2 -
I don't it was actually bhvr people. If it was, let's hope it was the HR department.
2 -
If that's the case, then yeah. Pretty embarrassing performance. If this is the level they play at, it's no wonder why we get the nerfs that we do.
5 -
There's this common misconception that people need to be good at the game they made for their decisions to be valid.
No, they don't. They absolutely don't. A lot of great players in many games have absolutely awful takes on game balance, and a lot of bad players are good analysts. What they need to do is 1. get good analysts and 2. appropriately listen to feedback from reasonable members of the community. No one needs to be good at a game to design it. In fact,I don't even think it's healthy for you to continuosly remain so involved with your job at home.

This is why It is a joke on some of the decisions that are made for this game. They need to actually use people that understand their own game, from a play-ability stand point, better than them. Which Isn't hard because there are a lot that get how this game plays better than their own staff. Sad.

NO FUN ALLOWED CLUB IN SESSION!!!
Meet at the usual place everyone. Don't forget to bring your dues. Some of you didn't pay last week so remember to pay tonight.
Here is the reminder of where to go.

Yeah I agree with that. It just tilts me to oblivion when people say "DEVS BAD IN GAME WHY THEY DECIDE BALANCE" like dude, I'm absolutely certain many people that are great at several games should never even step close to a balance team meeting.
3 -
It seems in poor taste to play with Calm Spirit, burn an offering for the largest maps, and bring toolboxes (one with a BNP) on a PTB with a Doc rework and Ruin nerf.
The fact that they lost seems kinda secondary to their intent to make the killer they went against miserable, which reflects poorly on BHVR.
6 -
Now we know why the game is in the state it’s in.
9 -
Oh don't worry guys, this video is terribly accurate of how good the DEVs are at their own game. Those are in fact BHVR employees.
I have played against a fair share of the BHVR employment, and they are are all the same. Not the worst, but by god they need to get better before they can be making changes like this! If even a little bit better!
Smh

See.. I can see them going back to their cubby holes...
"Welp guys, after some initial testing, we have determined that DOC is infact still OP. We need to tone him down some more. We kept getting destroyed every game, so, clearly, we need to fix this error."
I mean... It's not because you guys are AWFUL at the game. Nope, that's not the problem. Clearly, you've made the killer tooooooo ######### strong. Sigh...

In all fairness, Rotten fields is Billy's best map

When their post said specifically they tested it out in house and are happy with the changes, then actually yes their gameplay ability does matter.
9 -
When they said they tested it in house with multiple guests, including people with thousand of hours in the game, it doesn't.
2 -
hey!
those guys just try to have a fun time.
1 -
They don’t have to be good, but they should have a basic understanding. The fact that they go down in 5 seconds because they run AWAY from a pallet means they’re basing their decisions on that short of a chase. Even a bad survivor who camps pallets or drops them instantly would have lasted longer.
9 -
Those were not confirmed devs...
0 -
Can anyone actually confirm that they are actually employees at BHVR?
0 -
Game developers don't even need to play the game for all I care as long as they have a strong analysis team and receive feedback from good players.
That's a different problem.
1 -
no they can’t, they just say these things to make the developers look bad after they did something that they didn’t like.
7 -
That’s what I thought too, I hate to throw around the word toxic but yeah...
Unless you can tell me that they regularly run calm spirit on their survivors...
Its almost like stream sniping and seeing the person is going be playing as Plague so you run all perks that work while you’re injured.
1 -
The Devs don't play the game enough. This is a rule in system development (hello, I'm a coder, hence my nickname) the User knows some places in your system MORE than you do, since they use it every day, every hour, they're pros at your system and you're not, you're "a n00b", you just test it casually.
People play it for hours every day, even all night every day (I've played it and seen people playing ir on week days till 5 or 6 a.m) they watch gameplays, they learn new techs, they play it at pro level. The Devs just play it casually, I don't expect any dev to have more than 2k hours into the game, some maybe not even 1k. They all play like "ranks 12-15", I've seen them, they're REALLY bad, as killer and as survivor, they don't know the loop, the mind games, they don't even know how to use dead hard properly, they are THE DEVS, they are not THE USERS, so they might know a few things on game design more than us, but there are other things they're oblivious to and that pro players know way better than they do.

+1
Unfortunately some people think that you have to be a candy-maker to be able to differentiate between candy and cow #########. You have to be a hen to be able to tell if an egg is rotten.
All great games were made by DEVs who weren't experts in them.
4 -
i would like to see a stream where testing team play a game then we would have confirmed devs and could see how good they are. I would like to see gamplay on live servers not the test one ofcource

So you’re saying four people changed their names and profiles to impersonate BHVR?
Then Monto, who is good friends with dog whisperers posted it on YouTube without confirming they were in fact BHVR and risk any sort of fallout from that?
Wow that is a lot of mental gymnastics I hope you stretch first.
13 -
I mean, I'm not gonna call them toxic (and as other people are pointing out, it's not even confirmed they are devs), but those players went in with every intent to make their opponent miserable. You can't even call that testing, not when they burned an offering for Red Forest (rather than the newly reworked Lery's) as well as two Petrified Oak offerings. Two toolboxes, one with a BNP and an add-on for sabo'ing hooks, and two flashlights. They know they're probably going up against a Doc, and Doc is one of the killers who often used old Ruin to help in the early game due to difficulty applying pressure on large maps, and they double down on trying to exploit his weaknesses. That entire loadout is gross.
So yeah, whoever those players were, that wasn't cool. If they really were BHVR employees, that says something about the mindset of the people working there, and it's not positive.

Dog whisperers? Aw I wanted to be one. Always wanted to talk with my fuzzy friends.

Blanche is the art director.
Alpoirier is a 3D Artist
NicolasLQ Is QA
And I don't know who AFernandes is tbh, but sure, lets have the art people balance the game, we all know you guys complain about bugs when skins are still being pumped out so we should also assume the artists are god tier gamers as well.
13 -
I mean, you've seen how well the 'balance' people balance the game, I'd say give the art team a shot at this point.
2 -
I know this may sound crazy, but hear me out. Just because they are game devs doesn't = pro gamers. And yes, that includes their own game. They probably only play it for the fun factor and not as seriously as some of you.

For all we know it could have been the design team. If they even really where BHVR people
Everyone can put that behind their name tbh
Also Monto is a player who plays this game for a living, he can make anyone look bad
1 -
Because things become way more obvious when you have 20,000 people checking your game, sure bugs get through but none of them are really game breaking (besides the basement one, which was fixed faster than most).
0 -
Watch the game, I’m not kidding when I say they literally saw a pallet and a dead zone and chose to run the dead zone.
They play it for the fun factor, who’s theirs? Representatives of the company, no matter what department, bringing the biggest map addon against a killer who is partially based around terror radius... and a perk that almost no one runs but is a direct counter to Doctor, that sounds like loads of fun.
0 -
We went through at least a month of randomly not being able to heal other players... how is that not game breaking?
2 -
Monto plays for a living he can make anyone look bad, fair point.
Yet people are making the argument that Monto, Tofu, Otz etc can 4K without Ruin and using that as their defense we don’t need ruin.
Picking and choosing it’s almost like politicians in the forums.

How can someone produce a good product if they don't use the product enough to know it's ins and outs? The answer is they can't. Without devs playing the game at a certain level, there is no way they can balance effectively. And if the devs don't put a lot of time into understanding the game, that shows a lack of passion towards the product.
