Devs please allow us to change back to peer 2 peer

dedicated servers suck the game is literately unplayable. Window hits are worse than ever no scratch that all hits are worse then ever. Don't get me started on killer game play. Hook delay, power delay and missing hits like no tomorrow. Could you at least allow us to switch off dedicated servers cause i'm sure in a heartbeat everyone would be off them in under a minute. I'm seriously going to quit the game not because i want to but because it's unplayable with dedicated servers in their current state.

You do realize incredibly few survivors would opt into this which would mean just a ton of killer sitting around waiting for matches that are going to take hours to start. The only good reason survivors have for opting in at this point is the fact that for some stupid reason the Huntress' hatchet detection is killer client based rather than server based.

I don't know if there is anyone that gives this game more ######### than I do. But I honestly don't see all the fuss about dedicated servers. Hit boxes are crap. They were before dedicated servers, they are after. And this one I can't stress enough, IF YOU ARE IN CHASE AND DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FAST VAULT YOU RISK BEING HIT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE VAULT. It's the way it is. I even watch streamers have it happen to them every single day. Happens to them as survivor, happens for them as killer. Yet every time it happens they act surprised and say "wow thanks dedicated servers" PS4 just got servers yesterday and it did not change this mechanic what so ever. Fast vault, or risk hits.

Now that i think about it more putting peer 2 peer back into the game would just make finding lobby's take even longer like you said but thanks for the feedback. Maybe the devs should just disable servers until they get optimised and fixed. At least the game would be playable then.

Dedicated servers also screw the killer over just as bad. I am constantly missing hits i should get and also get teleported back to where i was a few seconds ago. Powers take a while to activate sometimes i have to spam the button multiple times for it to even work. Hooking, breaking pallets/generators, vaulting and picking up survivors all feel inconsistent now. The game is seriously f**ked up right now and basically unplayable for both sides. :(

Dedicated servers increase the latency between killer and surviviors by design, so its the logical result that interaction between them (hits specifically) are gonna be more inconsistent. People didn't consider that when they cried for their introduction. Specifically survivors didn't think of the upsides of an latency-less killer, and only complained like headless chickens. Now that they are finally welcomed by the beautiful concept of physical distance, they want to go back to Peer 2 peer. A killer with 300 ping, will still have a 300 ping on servers, and most likely be way higher, because there is a 3rd party (the server) inbetween.

While I personally always had (and still) preferred P2P, I know the developers are not gonna back to it, because its gonna break the game for another year, if they do.

Nah. I've had zero new issues since their release and got to experience the joy of a rage quitting killer not deleting the last 15-30 minutes of my time.

Pretty spot on really. I mean, I give the devs a lot of crap but this is a perfect example of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Literally everyone was screaming for dedicated servers. Give them what they want and they'll be happy right? Maybe this is why they don't listen to us anymore lol.

They could do that without having dedicated servers in the match. A simple system where the killer host needs to periodically send packages to the matchmaking/matchfinding servers to verify whether a player disconnect was caused by the survivor or the killer would easily fix that.

The same could be done with lobbies, so lobbydodging killers don't disband the other 4 players (the survivors). I honestly don't know why the developers didn't go for such a simple solution instead.

Except for Huntress hatchet hit detection, that's not how it works (unless even more things are programmed that stupidly). Your connection to other players in the game is now irrelevant to interaction timing. All that matters is your connection to the server itself. Though admittedly, some of the servers seem to be rather high ping themselves. This provides even more consistency for the most part. And latency free killers was only an advantage to the killers, not the survivors.

Hit detection for all killers is 100% client-side. I have tested it myself, by artificially rising my latency. Even with 1 second delay, I always get hits. This is why survivors now feel robbed by windows and pallet hits. This is why some people feel the lunge got buffed. Because on the killer's screen it all looks fine.

You could argue that making hits serverside would fix that. But think about it for a moment what this means for killers. It means that the killer has to lead hits according to latency now. Lets say you have a ping of 150ms as killer, because you live far away from the server (nothing unusual, because there are so few of them). This means that a survivor 360ing you will only appear on your screen after those 150ms. Add in human latency of around 200ms, and you have 350ms before the killer even starts to react. A good survivors can probably spin like 2-3 times a second, meaning the survivors is already far behind the killer, the moment they start turning around, making it a foolproof dodging method.

I wasn't aware that all hit detection was still killer client side. That completely invalidates any reason for servers in the first place. Why would they do that?

I agree with this only because there will come a time in the future when they stop supporting the game, and if they don't re-enable P2P it will be impossible to play. If the dedi's are shut down you can just enable P2P and keep playing the game.

A few games on Xbox that had dedi's are unplayable in multiplayer now because of the lack of P2P. Gears of War Ultimate Edition is one of them and it's very sad because that's by far the best of the franchise.

I'm just waiting for Xbox dedicated servers so I can just play Huntress and see what happens.

Spoiler alert you will throw hatchets that should hit but go right through survivors. And you will throw hatchets that should've hit but miss. Like i said in my original post hit boxes and everything else related to connection are 10x worse. But good luck anyway i play a little bit on console myself as peer 2 peer is better right now in my opinion. But i have most of my cosmetics and perks on pc. So i can't survive and kill in style :(

Yeah waiting 30 minutes for a match and then encountering a killer that turns his mcdonald wifi in the middle of the match is just as good.

I'm living the worse times in the game after Servers came out.

Worst hitboxes, Longer queue times, Hits throw pallets

It was better before, so im 100% with you.
