DEVS, I APOLOGISE.

When the ruin nerfs were first announced, I was angry with the game. I swore I would never play it again. I thought about protesting. I’d run noed and mori’s. I was angry, and thought the devs were being unfair. That they only care about the survivors fun.

I’ve since then accepted it, and decided I wouldn’t cry about it, but use it as an opportunity to experiment with new perks and combos, since I don’t have to worry about ruin being broken within the first 10 seconds of a match. One of the most consistent gen slow down perks I’ve found, that will do nicely to substitute ruin, is Dying Light. Underrated and actually, I think I prefer it over ruin after trying it in my builds for different killers.

So to anyone and everyone who reads this who are upset about the ruin nerf (although I don’t agree with the reason behind it being nerfed) please don’t be upset and angry. Use this as an opportunity to try new perks and builds. Maybe you’ll find something you like better than ruin.

So once again, devs I apologise for being shallow minded. Although I wish killers weren’t getting nerfed so much like in recent patches. (Nurse, spirit, healing buffs, legion, ruin ect) Maybe that’s where all this hate from the community (especially the killer side) has come from. All we see are nerfs, but the game is forever changing and there will be buffs too. I just hope the community doesn’t stay mad, but uses this to try new perks and builds.

I hate new DL. Obsession isn't affected, yet you're punished for killing him by having Dying Light shut off!

Presumably your BF was slugging the DL Obsession so they don't die and can't get gens? "Dying" Light. More like "Slugged in the corner of the map so they can't get generators with Knock Out so survivors can't find him and heal him and he inevitably bleeds out into the dirt Light"

Some big problems with it absolutely. But it’s better than nothing. If the obsessions dc’s or kills themselves on hook, it’s gone. The obsession not being affected negatively and actually getting buffed bothers me. In the early game it can be really bad but when you start getting hooks, I like it. It will have to do until gen speeds are changed or if they decide not to go through with the nerf.

I honestly think dying light is the worst slowdown perk in the game. A 3% reduction to healing and repair speed per hook? And the obsession needs to be alive and can't give you stacks either? It's awful. You're adding 2 extra seconds to gens everytime you get a hook, which probably takes around 30 seconds on average. Not to mention finding the first survivor and praying it isn't the obsession.

It's a perk that relies on the skill of the survivors and not the killer's. I have played games against SWF where I got very few hooks and the game was done so DL was never helpful. @SpaceCoconut is a big fan of it, but it's not always reliable because it's up to the skill of the opposing team. (and your own but the killer is just one person so...)

Exactly. And in games where you get fast hooks because survivors make a lot of mistakes you won't need DL because you are ahead anyways...

I've dusted off NOED. Actually, I've removed Ruin from my builds, just to get me into the habit of playing without it. I'll be honest, I'm actually surprised, both at how fast gens go without Ruin, and how focused survivors are on said gens now that they aren't running around looking for Ruin. Hence, NOED has been putting in some serious work the last two days. I think I can build a Trapper sized statue made of the salt I've garnered so far.

I mean I consider dying light trash but it becomes decent on oni with thrilling and bbq so you have constant pressure
