Ruin changes: Yay or Nay
Just as a bit of a disclaimer, I play both sides, but primarily killer.
So the new Hex:Ruin changes have caused quite the stir in the community and I have some thoughts about it. At the same time Ruin is both better and worse for a few reasons and it all comes down to the different kinds of killers and the builds from both sides. Let me explain.
Depending on the killer: so many people have said Ruin is a straight nerf and in some cases that is correct, case in point Trapper. Ruin is a fixated part of any Trapper's build because it allowed him to set up his traps at many different loops in a small amount of time. Now that Ruin is what is is, Trapper is gonna have to balance gen monitoring and setting up traps in the beginning of the game. On the other hand, two killers in particular extremely benefit from this new change (One moreso than the other) Freddy and Legion. For Freddy you have to consistently Ave to wake yourself up each time longer than the last. This built slowdown allows Freddy to utilize Ruin better than other killers like say wraith, clown or even Spirit and Billy. Legion I feel benefits from this Ruin change the most because of Feral Frenzy's thing is specifically not downs, but slowdown. More Frenzy= more slowdown= more time to end chases effectively. Other than that, Pig's reverse bear trap has RNG slowdown but slowdown nonetheless.
Survivors and killers builds: So this is the other big one. Something survivors can do to find any totem or Hex totem is just run Detective's Hunch. Pretty much guaranteed to get a totem after completing a gen. Along with that rainbow maps are great at finding totems as well. Oh and don't forget about small game. Meanwhile all killers can do is hope their totem doesn't get knocked out. I mean Bloody coil Trapper does exist but that is boring and repetitive for both sides.
In conclusion: Ruin for most killers is most certainly a nerf while killers with built in slowdown with their powers gain great benefits from this change.

Ruin is being changed and not nerfed in my opinion. Feels like a different perk entirely. I disagree with the change, because the timing is poor and the reason for why killers use ruin has failed to be addressed. Pretty much it.
