So the Ruin change.

I was pretty worried about it in all honesty. However I was watching Otzdarva's stream yesterday. The man did like 10 games in a row in red ranks with no ruin and won all of them. Mostly with Legion who he was practicing. I was like you know what if he can do it, I can do it as well. I load up DBD pick my boy Michael Myers. My Perks were Pop/Nurses/Monitor/BBQ. Add-ons J.Myers Memorial, and Dead Rabbit.

I play and proceed to win the next 5 games I play without ruin. I had a game were they did pop two gens pretty early but I came back from it towards the mid game pretty strong. I think I might have been relying too much on Ruin in the past, and now I don't really think I need it. Especially with Michael and his slow start.

I know the majority of killer mains are going crazy because of the change, but have you tried going without ruin, and just using a fairly strong build and see how you do? And if you did, did you have good results, or poor results?

It might not matter now that everyone is being pushed to red ranks, I've had a few matches after the rank reset and I've felt like I'm playing against green rank survivors.

I had a similar experience. My first couple of games were high difficulty. Could have been a great team or my own frustration. After that it’s back to three and four kills a game.

After testing my builds out with ruin I figured it was a good change. It makes me think Ruin had a bit of a placebo going on with me. I do agree with other players that in that I cannot be as lenient as I have been in the past with this change.

Getting the first kill is vital to a win.

It's a death sentance for slower starting killers..high strength killers can manage

I think there is a placebo effect tbh. But there have been plenty of games where Ruin has been broken like 10 seconds into the game before I could even possibly walk over to defend it. In those games I play a lot harder than normal. And usually can do okay, but it's pretty high stress just knowing how quick it broke. With Pop replacing it, at least I had some help against gen rushers by ending chases quickly. But I certainly had to play at the top of my game if I wanted any pressure at all to stop the gen rushing.

Now this statement I can discuss... I do actually agree with you. However, I also believe they can't re-work those killers until they understand what needs re-worked.

And how do you learn that when 80% of them are using a perk that puts them above average at a kill rate... Because if your supposed to get 2k but the average kill rate is 3... Then statistically the killers are to strong as is.

Now if you take away the perk 80% of the user base is using and the kills drop down to 0-1 kills per game. They can go, okay trapper needs re-worked, he is not getting enough kills per game. However, there statistics currently are telling them this killer is getting more than they should be.

You don't have to be the best of the best. I'm not talking about god tier loopers.

I'm talking about survivors who know how to play smart. Survivors who may not be god tier loopers but can loop decently. Survivors who stay spread out and don't get slugged easily.

That's all you need to do really. On some maps, it's even easier for survivors.

Fyi, if you did get matched with god tier survivors, a 2k is unlikely unless they goof around. Most of the time all 4 survivors will be alive when the 5th gen is done.

I think these guys were average at best, but still got all gens done in 5:46 minutes.

That's the true issue..their balancing scheme is literally designed to put survivors in an overpowered state..they wont keep killer players around much longer with this ideal as they are getting competitors who promise a real power role to killers..last year already is getting the message

With killers that need to set up or low map mobility, Corrupt has taken it's place. Games come down to 1 generator or EGC more often now. But tunneling, slugging, and moris are the order of the day.

There numbers might suffer a small bit, but for the most part they are doing well. I personally find last year much less fun to play, though that was at launch. I am not sure what they have changed since then.

My concern is what do you mean by "Power Role"? 7 outta 10 games I have control, survivors escape more from my mistakes or out mindgameing in certain loops. Does that mean that I don't have games where I just get run for 3 gens... nope they totally happen.

I've always looked at the game being balance around a 2k and I more than likely 7 outta 10 games get my 2k if not a 4k, I lose some, which is fine, I would be way more upset if I got a 4k every single game or if I was choosing to let survivors leave every game. Because to me that, means the game balance favors one side.

Both sides should have fun and to be fair, if you were playing survivor and dying every single round, never once ever escaping... I can't see that as fun, I don't need to escape every game, but 1 outta 4 isn't a hard request.

This is true. I'm rank 4 survivor but only cuz I play a lot. I'm actually quite terrible, and I'm fine with that, but I know it messes up matches for other players who actually belong in red ranks.

It's ok, a lot of the green rank killers are now in red ranks too. Yay for standing around hooks and tunneling.

It's a shame because I haven't seen any genuine red rank killers in a long time. The Huntress players used to be so impressive, they'd get hits on you in areas you never thought possible.

Agree completely, I play without ruin for the reason it always seems to break pretty fast. So I play without and it seems to be fine. Also not the best killer. But carry my own. Ruin is such a crutch perk for killers that dont put on pressure or tunnel vision one survior for to long.( guilty) it sucks how much one perk is going to effect the game now. With ruin gone everyone is going to use noed.... (more)!!

Not everyone is god killer. And not everyone play this game for living.

For example, I'm not. I just want to have fun, not to sweat myself.

I don't care if i get kills or not. I just want a fair game, even it ends up with 4 escapes.

PS: i don't even own ruin and pop at the moment. So you can imagine how my games go..

I understand that not everyone is a god killer, I don't think I am. I might consider myself above average. But that's about all. (As expected with as many hours as I've put into the game)

Honestly as killer I think you need some type of slow down perk to be viable in most cases. It doesn't have to be ruin, but you really need something... Corrupt, Pop, Ruin, Thrilling Tremors. Thanato, Sloppy Butcher. Just something that can make the survivors take a little longer. If you don't have any even as a skilled player you are probably gonna have a bad time. Unless the survivors are complete potatoes.

Honestly I think playing as killer is pretty fair right now. But you deff work harder to secure wins than survivor does. But at least you don't have to worry about teammates sabotaging the game. It's all on you.

Using a streamer who has 1000+ hours in a game in comparison to average joe Killer player is not much of a comparison at all.

Tru3 has shown that he could make it to rank one with every killer using zero perks, the point is it can be done, but the tactics involved are scummy by survivor standards, and in truth there is little fun in it for the killer players as well.

If it can be done, but you would rather pull out your finger nails, is it worth spending your valuable personal game time doing it?

But that's not reality..the only reason your gsmez go so well is because the games issues are being muddied up by the ranking system..failing to separate newer players from experts..beating a team that obviously didnt know what to do holds no satisfaction..as a survivor I would never lose if I got nothing but good randoms in a proper system..because killers are too hard capped..and survivors can bolster their abilities to insane levels. And are offered a multitude of free time wasters to boot...this game is far from balanced..the ones who talk about this finally understand by seeing it enough times..as killer..theres common scenarios where winning is impossible..meanwhile as survivor it isnt over until at least two people die

That's why the gen speed is a problem.. as killer, i shouldn't need to bring certain perks just to have a chance.

I should still be able to win even with no perks and add-ons with any killers, if i have the skill, Because survivors certainly can do it.

I'm a bit confused, I thought in your previous post you were saying you weren't the best, which suggests your skill level isn't particularly high as killer. Yet we know that if you have the skill you can win as killer even without ruin.

Also the game was designed around having perks, majority of most perks have 3 uses for killers. Finding survivors via aura reading to help the killer find chases quicker. Help the killer in chases, or to slow down the survivors just a little bit. Usually if they do not fall under these categories they are extremely niche, and are probably bad...

By the way you can win with killer with zero perks, but like why? Seems like a lot of effort, just like it would be a lot of effort for 4 survivors to not have any perks and go against a fully decked out killer.

Well I did use myself as well, does that not count for anything? Though I might have a 1000+ hours at this point split between killer and survivor.

He actually does play this game for a living so he isn't very good example and due to amazing rank reset changes everyone is red rank but few unlucky people that don't play as much.

Also... whenever I go to Otz's stream he plays legion and wins about 50% of his games and the rest he gets one kill tops due to survivors just playing good. He isn't a god incarnate but just as any other good killer can capitalize on survivors mistakes. If they don't make enough of them, he will lose the game.
