The exact opposite of my last poll, I would like you to explain what you think the best starting survivor is based off of their 3 starter perks, their stealth capabilities (breathing noise, injury moan noise, size), and their general reputation amongst the community.

Note: No DLCs will be included. This includes Lullaby of The Dark.

Note 2: Ace and Feng will be included for the console adaptations of the game.

    Dwight Fairfield

Meg is a very close second, but I feel Dwight is the best starter survivor simply because of action speed boosts he can provide his teammates such as gen repair speed boosts as well as the ability to easily locate teammates when in need or to provide his boosts.

Take a look at her perks. Not one is terrible.

    • Lithe is a great exhaustion perk.
    • Alert is all around exemplary.
    • Technician, while not amazing, is a very nice "QoL" type perk and really helps new players who aren't great at hitting skill checks.

    Baby Dwights are the best.

Also his perks really help players with their objectives :)

    I'm torn about this.

I feel like Nea has the best overall perk set for a starting Survivor. Since she has a good Exhaustion perk and a good stealth perk, which can help a new player with avoiding chases or surviving them if they end up getting chased. Her third perk is also decent since any new Survivor besides Claudette will need Medkits to heal themselves if they get Injured and their teammates refuse to help them/can't help them.

That said, Nea has the second worst reputation of any Survivor. Both your Killers and your teammates will probably bully you just for playing her.

Dwight is much better as far as reputation goes; you'll probably get cut a lot more slack than if you were playing anyone else because of how much a meme Baby Dwight is. He also has fairly quiet pain sounds (especially compared to other starting survivors like Claudette or Meg, who can be heard at a decent distance even while uninjured, or Bill and David, who are audible from the other side of the map while injured).

However Dwight's perks are all geared towards working with teammates on generators, and he has nothing to help him avoid or survive a chase. Which is what most beginning Survivors struggle with most. Unless the Killer takes pity on them, they'll probably die often as they struggle to learn how to avoid the Killer.

I used to say Claudette because of self-care, wich, in the lower ranks, I felt like a good perk because you wouldn't need to rely so much on your team mates. I still consider it a good perk in the beginning, but I would have to say that Bill has the most important one to jump off low ranks. Has you might know if you ever read how the ranking system works, any time a player is hooked you loose 10 points in the altruism (now it has another name but works the same way) category and if a survivor performes an unsafe hook rescue, that survivor looses even more points. When I play with low rank friends, that's one of the more frequent mistakes I see them make and that's the main reason why they can't move past rank 15 or 14.

With that said, you should really give priority to borrowed time. I'm recently red rank again and I'm trying to farm items and bloodpoints so I use plunder's instinct, ace in the hole and We're gonna live forever wich leaves only room for one tier perk. I'm using borrowed time, without it, some times I wouldn't be able to perform hook rescues because the killer is area camping or just being looped nearby by some irracional team mate that's just harming the team by not allowing a safe hook rescue without borrowed time. I even gave up my favorite perk (Spine Chill) because of the farming. It doesn't mean you can't make safe hook rescues without it, I've played many times without it without big problems, but you waist a bit more time doing an hook rescue some times without it because you want to make sure is 100% same to do it. I really think boorowed time is a must have.

But in my honest opinion, when you're really starting, I advice you to play with a few different characters with different perks before you start leveling them up and get a feel for yourself of wich are the perks you feel more confident with. There's nothing like trying a bunch of them. Just try the most used perks first and when you get a feel of what your favorite is, just start leveling up the corresponding character with the bloodpoints that you, meanwhile, have saved. There's nothing like trying for yourself.

    Claudette Morel

I was literally talking to a friend about this two days ago. I was pretty torn between Claudette, Jake, and Nea.

Jake has Iron Will and Calm Spirit, Nea has Urban Evasion, Claudette has Botany Knowledge, Self-Care, and can go invisible on some maps, and Empathy's not bad either.

Claudette has more points going to her.

I think Claudette is the best survivor to start with, with ther healing perks. Others also have good perks, but I think Claudette has the best ones to start out.
