Freddy is unfun to play against
Comments
-
This. And try to get the stun if you can. If he respects, drop it anyway (or if you already know he's a pallet respecter, keep running, or learn to fake). If you have to drop it early, force him to break the pallet. When he does that, get distance. You can't just run in circles forever against Freddy like any other killer.

Your ability to bully them into a corner
4 -
I think Freddy is better now, but some people like old Freddy. As old Freddy once someone is on hook and is saved. You would have to put them to sleep first to hit them, that's unfun.
2 -
Well you're right. There is no chance of knowing for sure which pallets are real if you haven't been to that area before. It's almost like his ability punishes the people who sit on gens in a corner and don't take a look around the map at the start of the game...wish there was a way you could counter the pallets such as doing a lap around the map or staying awake...
I'm not gonna say Freddy isn't strong or takes skill. He's a very easy to use killer and is very effective by just existing, but he loses a lot to good survivors who know what they're doing.
2 -
You suck thatโs it.
0 -
Survivors always makes me laugh when they talk about skills or killers who "spam power"
Do y'all think that holding M1 requires too much skill? Ok then ๐ญ๐
5 -
Forever Freddy needs to go. 12% from his add ons. Take thana and sloppy butcher to stop healing, now youโre at 28%. Get a few stacks of Dying Light going and now youโre around 40% and increasing with every Dying Light stack. Add Pop too so that when survivors do make gen progress you can simply reset it.
That builds just translates to โGet ready to hold M1 all gameโ.
Thankfully at least heโs losing Ruin from it. Although I guess new Ruin will still have a place in that build.
4 -
Give yourself big slap over you face, better from both sides before you write this trash topics. Killers are gutted by devs every single patch. Its time to watch gen speeds now.
1 -
Christ. I feel like the changes to Spirit and Nurse were needed but now Freddy?
There's a bunch of different ways to wake up. If you fall asleep during a chase because of getting hit or the timer, it's mostly your fault.
Not to mention, even if you are asleep, Dream Snares are quite visible so you can easily avoid them. Even if you touch them, they don't do much at all. Dream pallets can be countered by memorizing the real ones, pulling them early and/or not relying on pallets at all.

While I agree that he is not really enjoyable to verse, I dont think that this is that dramatic, at least compared to Spirit.
I think he is unfun because he is kinda braindead. Being awake helps, sure, but once you are hit, you are asleep. But this is kinda necessary on how his Ability works, it would be really frustrating to be in a chase and that person is not affected by Snares or Pallets at all.
I dislike his Ability tho - the Pallets are even more braindead. Sure, you can remember which ones are real and which are fake, but you will eventually come to a point where you end up in an area you have not been before.
And for the Snares...eh. It is reverse-bloodlusting. Instead of breaking the Pallet, he just runs around, placing Snares, which again, will eventually lead to being hit.
However, his Toolkit is really cool, the Snares are a nice idea and that you are able to replace them with Pallets is also a good thing. His Slowdown is also quite ok now, I dislike players who use Ruin AND PGTW (which is, where the most frustration with Ruin will come from, because when you are bad at hitting Great Skill Checks, you end up having a slow Gen Progression, pairing that with 25% of that kicking away...), but overall, his Slowdown Potential is not as brutal as it used to be.
Power-wise I would say he is in a good Spot. If all Killers were at Freddys Powerlevel, this would not be bad at all. But still, I think he is unfun to verse, because of his Sleep Mechanic (which is necessary) and the behavior in Chase.

You probably aren't a fun person either, it's ok.

Freddy is in a perfect spot balance wise right now. He has good map pressure and chase potential, which is why he can deal with the fast gen times.
He definitely has counterplay. Certain loops in particular can still be good against him. It's just that he is very likely to get a hit against you faster than other killers. That's one of the reasons he is actually viable. Because he actually has counterplay at loops and most likely can't be looped for too long.
And like every killer he does take some skill. He's not as hard to use as others but still.
I'm not sure if this post is about wanting Freddy nerfed or not. But I can only pray that BHVR does not nerf any of the viable killers right now. I don't need 15+ minute queue times as survivor.
3 -
these new players simply seems to lack the patience to learn, now I get why the devs keep on nerfing.
When us "seasoned" players were noobs this game was at least 5 times harder than now. But was so much more fun and challenging.
4 -
I feel like if they gonna buff/rework that kill from chapter, survivors like Quentin should get it too.
0 -
IMO the only killers that make me want to uninstall the game are Hillbilly, Legion and Ghostface.
Everyone else ranges from good to tolerable.
0 -
M1 Killer btw
0 -
good
0 -
Ah ######### here we go again
1 -
He was way overbuffed. Surely there is some nerfs coming his way.
2 -
Or, you just need to learn and adapt against him.
5 -
Your response doesn't fit. If he would have said "muh Freddy to strong pls nerf" then u had a point. But he is nowhere talking about strength of Freddy but simply being unfun to go against.
1 -
I literally can't. Freddy is the bastard of a dull remake, not a single Freddy has ever memed, best lunge, gen pressure, anti looping tools in the game. I hate Freddy can he plz get a retro skin and music so he is at least visually pleasant on the eyes?
1 -
You are evil.
1 -
- "Killer doesn't meme. Killer isn't fun. How dare the killer play the game seriously and not be a circus act for survivors". Gotcha.
- Every killer has the same M1 lunge. Some just look larger because they are smaller character models.
- Yep, Ruin got nerfed, time to complain about killers that can actually apply gen pressure. Even if they are completely beatable, how dare they have a chance.
- Anti looping tools only means you have to change how you loop. Adapt.
I seriously hope you were being sarcastic. It almost seems like it, cause you listed all the positives as negatives...so please, please tell me you're being sarcastic.
4 -
Just listing my opinions of why I find the killer to be unfun for me. You don't agree which is understandable but you failed to change my opinion because you said "are you kidding me" which makes me not like you all that much.
1 -
So, you find him unfun because he's capable of applying gen pressure...has the same lunge as every other killer (apparently too long for you), Freddy players don't meme for your amusement, and has tools that won't let you abuse loops for days. Okay.
As I said. How dare a killer have the ability to kill effectively. He doesn't allow me to loop like my favorite streamer (even though your favorite streamer likely loops him just fine).
I don't think asymmetrical horror games are the games for you if those are the things that bother you, to be honest. This is just a case of you needing more practice.
Also - criticizing Freddy because people who play him don't meme. OOF. That's ridiculous.
1 -
How is instantly teleporting across the entire map fair? Even billy takes longer to get there.
1 -
It's not instant. It takes 2-3 seconds, and you have a huge warning from the very start of the process to get away. Nice try.
You just need to get better at survivor. Survivor is the easy mode of DBD.
Also - how are god windows fair? How is Decisive Strike fair? How is borrowed time fair? How are flashlights fair? How are the map sizes in relation to gen repair times fair?
2 -
Let me link you some "optimal freddy" gameplay, with me as the freddy. I haven't even played him in months, and here is what you do. Spam M2 as you walk, collect your free downs. You can try to be creative with the snares but since it takes about .5 seconds to lay one, it's easier to just spam them at all times.
1 -
That wasn't you being good or Freddy being OP. That was the survivors making bad plays. No indication of their rank either.
3 -
Holy ######### these survivors are awful.
1 -
It was all at rank 1. There is nothing you can do against a snare spamming freddy if you are asleep, and he has a brain. You can only go tile to tile, which isn't possible on many maps.
They still knew to go loop the shack, use insta heals, run to the infinite, etc etc. Still rank 1's.
0 -
All rank 1 huh? Thank you for proving that high ranks can have potatoes too.
Imagine watching a freddy place a trap and still run over it to try to loop him.
It's ######### hilarious.
1 -
What else could they do? The jane was trapped at the wrong side of the pallet, if she moved off, she would take a hit. If she stepped on the trap, she took a hit.
The guy at the shack was completely trapped in there, with the direction I was running him. He either had to throw that pallet immediately, or go down like he did.
1 -
I normally use pallets as I find them more fun but I might have to give snares a try XD
1 -
What else could they do?
They could NOT be in that postion in the first place.
That Nea could've made distance if she waited at the pallet and dropped it on your face and that Jane could go for the window in that building while you were busy spamming. They made the choice to run to these structures and got pushed for being greedy.
They played the loop game and justifiably failed.

So basically just hide and do gens? Sounds like a balanced killer. You must think someone like spirit is balanced as well. What about if I put on discordance and surveillance? You can't hide from that, and he teleports straight on top of your head.
0 -
Not hide. Actually use your brain as a survivor. They didn't and got rightfully punished for it.
1 -
So basically, all you proved is what everyone already says and knows. It's way too easy to rank up as survivor.
Also - if it's so impossible to loop a Freddy "spamming snares", how do people manage to do it? How do I manage to do it? I'd bet @Mc_Harty manages to do it as well. How do all those Twitch streamers do it?
Also - snares have a proximity, like trapper and hag traps. They can't be placed so close together that they even come close to touching. Again, adapt. Learn.
2 -
Because most killers, along with the survivors, are bad as well. You should never be getting looped as Freddy, unless you are on a map like Thompson house where there is safe pallet every 5 feet.
1 -
Maybe we're gods at dbd :P
0 -
"Maps like thompson house" make up for about 3/4 of all the maps in DBD. Only RECENTLY have balanced maps started becoming a regular occurrence, and even on Hawkins, I can loop pretty much any killer just fine. I just can't do it the way I would on other maps, and I can't loop the same way against every killer, and that's where your logic breaks down. You expect to be able to loop every killer the same. No, they have different powers, and different strategies for defeat and defence.
Again, learn. Get better. You'll be better off than having the devs nerf something because you refuse to adapt.
1 -
Yes, Hawkins, with an average 70% kill rate, is a very balanced map. Do you think sanctum of wrath, where there's usually about 6-7 pallets total (with 2-3 of them being unsafe) is a good map? They are slaughtering grounds for the most part, unless you have a full team of very good survivors. And with the matchmaking, that almost never happens.
0 -
Oh okay. So you're going to grasp at the stats, that even the developers who released them said should be taken with a grain of salt. AKA - meaning they are inconclusive at best. Remember this as the moment you threw the debate.
I play solo, exclusively. At red ranks. I'd say I have about a 50/50 escape/death ratio with Hawkins. It's not the map that's killer sided. The map is balanced. It's the survivors who can't do anything without endless safe pallets and god windows. Imagine actually having to think and be strategic as you run a killer.
2 -
Lol. I think it's enough to be statistically significant. Anyone good can realize why Hawkins is a garbage map, and literally easy mode for the killer. Every pallet is unsafe, and with dedicated servers, unsafe pallets are extremely unreliable to use. There's like 2-3 rooms where you can run the killer for a minute or two at the most, after that, the whole place is a dead zone.
1 -
No, it's not enough to be statistically significant, because even the developers said multiple factors were not accounted for. Therefore, your logic is paper thin when using the stats as a backbone.
Again - the map isn't a problem. The problem is survivors (lack of) ability to function without being able to run and hide in loops with god windows and safe loops. Hawkins simply evens the playing field. Whoever outplays who, whether that be the survivor or the killer, will come out on top.
1 -
Yeah, a 20% gap between the maps means absolutely nothing. Freddy having the highest kill rate in the game meant absolutely nothing. He got nerfed right after they released the stats, because they meant nothing. You can't even draw the slightest conclusion from any of it.
1 -
I use Freddy a lot, also yeah.

A 20% gap provided by statistics that are literally said to be inconclusive by the people who published them.
So yes, not significant, at all. Unreliable and not representative of real life, because things weren't taken into account.
