Injured survivors vs Spirit
So we all know that Iron Will hard counters Spirit right?
Well there are the occasions that a survivor doesn't have Iron Will and it's a Spirit.
They can do fine against her until they're injured, they are now a massive pain beacon for her to come kill.
My idea was for there to be a bit more fairness for the injured survivor but not stripping Spirit of too much of her strength.
My idea was to make survivors injured audio omni-directional (Can't discern where they actually are) when she is phasing.
I know what you're thinking. "You're essentially nerfing Spirit", that's not my intention and there's more to it.
After a period of time during her phase, the survivor sounds will become directional again. This idea was to make it so the injured survivor at least has a bigger chance to kind of give the Spirit the slip.
What are your thoughts on this idea? Is it good or bad?

"Is it good or bad?"
"No"
Thanks for the clear response bud 😁
3 -
No. Please stop. The audio is already bad. Please no.
12 -
Another nerf? Surv players must really like long queues.
13 -
Oh I know it is.
I meant this for when (if) it gets fixed.
Audio is horrible rn
1 -
Wow a Single QoL suggestion and another sarcastic comment. Who would've thought? 🙄
0 -
No. Let her be. Not even a problem to deal with anymore.
6 -
Why is there always need to nerf things?
Can't we just play the game as it is?
Spirit is not even that common as she used to be. Good players will still be able to get you and bad players have hard times already even without this change.

Iron Will
Problem solved
0 -
This would be a huge nerf to every killer not only spirit
If you're uninjured she has zero methods to track you if you don't run so your in the advantage
If your injured she's at the advantage. Heal asap vs spirit or run iron will
The spirit player had to work to get you injured so there is no reason why she wouldn't get some benifits for it
3 -
Believe it or not this already the case since the last update ! https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/sound
0 -
Sounds are bugged so often in this game that Spirit has essentially been nerfed already.
Not even joking. Ever since the Legion release at the end of 2018 the sounds in this game has been broken more than they have been working correctly.
6 -
How would it be a nerf to every killer?
I literally specified that it will ONLY apply to Spirit during her phase walk.
Unless every killer can phase walk I don't know what you're talking about lmao
2 -
no, you go down and let Spirit chase someone else.
0 -
Spirit already had collision removed and they gave her a vault animation, she's doesn't need anymore nerfs. You essentially want the game to reward you for playing poorly, and make the killer work even harder for tracking you down and injuring you, think about that. How about learning to play against her, instead of coming to the forums are asking the devs to nerf her.
7 -
No
0 -
Yes, I gotta learn to not make injured sounds without Iron Will.
The amount of people defending this killer XD.
If I said the same about Freddy no one would care.
But if it's about Spirit 😮
0 -
My bad i misunderstood
Still i don't think the change is nececary
Being injured is suppose to be a bad thing
0 -
Thanks for clearly reading my post. You see my first sentence?
"We all know Iron Will hard counters Spirit"
0 -
Bad.
Don't do anything that would scare off more killers. Surv queue times are bad enough.
7 -
Unfortunately whenever a suggestion/change/nerf idea comes up killers ######### and whine like it's the end of the world lol
1 -
As much as I hate how brainless Spirit is, making sound omnidirectional while she is phasing is a ridiculous idea. Killers need good sound to track survivors, and good sound doesn't even exist right now as a lot of people have already said. That change would make her really bad and it's not the change she needs. It's the survivor's side that needs to have more information about her power, not the killer having less
5 -
Can we for once stop with that "Queue Times are long because not enough Killers are playing"-Bullshit? The reason is a different one.
@Topic:
Sadly Spirit has to be an easy effort/high Reward Killer. So yeah, use Iron Will and hope that they dont have Stridor.

The problem with giving survivors information is that it's limited as to what information the survivors can have without making her a trash killer.
I heard somewhere about giving Spirit blue scratch marks whilst she's phasing so the survivors don't know where she is but know where she HAS been.
Idk, someone would suggest that and the same old people would come and say "No SpiriT's FiNe".
She is no way fine, the way she is atm
0 -
Spirit is ridiculously easy XD.
I always win with her, I have no clue how people say she takes skill to use.
0 -
@Aven_Fallen It's not.
If the survivor : killer ratio was good and just the matchmaking was buggy, both killers and survivors would have long queue times. But that's not the case.
Doesn't matter whether you are playing killer at high ranks or not, you'll get instant lobbies.
Pretending that the problem that people don't want to play killer doesn't exist, won't change anything. No matchmaking algorithm can solve this problem.
The devs already have opened up the matchmaking so that everybody gets matched with everybody, no matter the rank.

I'd rather the Spirit's phasing sound to survivors not be omnidirectional and you could actually tell where it's coming from. If they also made it so you'd hear her phasing sounds while in a chase or her terror radius that would also be enough for survivors imo. Prayer beads can change the phasing sound back to the way it is now.

Don't let the same old people see your suggestions.
They're gonna flip

The issue here is that you list Iron Will at the beginning of your post, and that perk is an incredibly strong standalone stealth/juke perk on most maps. It eliminates one of the best tracking methods any killer has to find someone injured, unless they have Stridor to negate it.
While it has a slight increase in effectiveness when fleeing from the Spirit, it's not so powerful against her that it negates her power, since she can still see scratch marks, grass movement, and heart footsteps.
I disagree with this change because she just lost her collision, so she can't even physically smack a survivor to find them now. However, she's not helpless at all, even against Iron Will. It makes a survivor better against her, but not even massively so that she's crippled in some way because of it.

Its because of the SWF-Change. It does not change from one day to the other that queue times get longer. Hundreds of Killer players will not suddenly decide "Ok, I stop playing Killer", exactly at the same time. This makes no sense at all. I mean, feeding a narrative works perfect with pretending it is that way, but it isnt.
Furthermore, since the SWF-Change (which did not affect me, since I am either Solo or 2 man SWF with someone exactly my Rank), I dont play against any of the Streamers I played against before. Despite the fact that they are still playing this game, still being at the same Rank that I am and still being online (and live) when I am playing DBD as well. Would be a weird coincidence when this happened also at the same time (on top of Hundreds of Killer players deciding to stop, roughly around the Nurse Update, because they were ALL Nurse Mains).

I realise my mistake from creating this post.
The bigger problem is the lack of information survivors get.
I now see that taking away HER information is not the right way.
Survivors need a bit more information but I don't know how they could do this without making Spirit really bad
2 -
@Aven_Fallen Just look at the facts. Following your logic, green and yellow ranked killers would have long queue times, because the SWF change brought an increased need of red and purple rank killers. But that is not the case. It doesn't matter whether you are a red or yellow killer, you will get your instant match.
And the change didn't happen suddenly. It was a constant development over several months.

"And the change didn't happen suddenly. It was a constant development over several months."
It was not. At least not on PC.

Your post isn't a QoL suggestion. It's a straight nerf. As it is it's incredibly easy to out mindgame most Spirits, even while injured, just takes some basic knowledge of how she plays and 99% of the time you can just sprint off to the next loop without wasting the pallet at the current one turning her into an M1 killer. Please stop embarassing yourself with nerfs that you claim are QoL improvements and actually learn what a nerf is
3 -
How do you explain that you get instant matches as a killer, no matter whether you are yellow or red?
2 -
I think the only change that should be done is to not have stridor counter iron will
0 -
How do you explain, that I suddenly dont get matched with all the Killers I got matched before? Do they play a different DBD now? Not anymore on my Server, even tho we live in the same country?
I mean, its kinda sad to go over some parts of the post, without ignoring the others. Seems like keeping the narrative is more important than having an actual discussion.
0 -
So, this won't apply to every pallet, but her "phase' does in fact have collision, meaning she moves grass, meaning that on most maps, it's not hard to read what she's going to do, the best thing you can do is just run down her power, and it turns her into a weak easily loopable M1 killer until it comes off CD. Nerfing her more than she already has been just means she stops being part of the big 4, and you get even less killer variety, something nobody wants
1 -
Probably because they're in a pretty bad spot in high ranks, where you're forced to main either a good mindgame killer or a killer with high mobility if you want consistent wins, which kills off 60-70% of the total roster
0 -
The issue of our discussion is: Do we have a good survivor : killer ratio or not? I'm presenting very simple facts.
You could not be getting matched with those people you were facing before because nowadays everybody is getting matched with everybody. This heavily decreases your chances of getting matched against the same people.
"I mean, its kinda sad to go over some parts of the post, without ignoring the others. Seems like keeping the narrative is more important than having an actual discussion."
So, will you now explain why you get instant matches as a killer, no matter whether you are yellow or red?
1 -
It's not simple at all to outplay a good Spirit. You just have to guess luckily. But go off I guess
0 -
Fair enough
0 -
She doesn't move grass. It's been proven
0 -
Sound directions are really important when you play as the Spirit. That's part of a reason why Stridor actually hurts her, sounds become so loud you can't determine the direction of it. It's so loud you can't even hear clearly footsteps! If you want to test your change, equip Stridor and play.
0 -
It's fine.
I've realised my mistake.
The problem with Spirit isn't what information she gets.
It's the lack of information survivors get.
Idk what they could give survivors without completely trashing Spirit but if you have a suggestion you're more than welcome to say so.
The best suggestion I've thought of is Spirit leaving Scratch Marks. That way survivors won't know her exact location but will know WHERE she HAS travelled in her power.
0 -
Got any visual proof to back that up?

I'll get some later when my friend is online.

Here ya go. Found it on the forums

Just no

Weird, must be a client thing, as when I'm phasing I clearly see the grass move. However, there's literally zero things you can change that wouldn't immediately killer her power. Adding scratch marks? Doesn't work. In the original PTB with her Survs got directional sound on her whoosh and it gave away enough information that you could consistently pallet camp, negating the entire point of her power.
0 -
Ever considered possibly healing? It's a nerf man a full on nerf.
Just because certain killers you can gen rush without healing or there is no point in healing. You need to learn to adapt to the situation that's presented itself in the form of a killer. If a killer can adapt to 4 survivors at once then a survivor should be able to adapt to 1 killer in a trial.
