I have a toxic playstyle...
However, toxicity isn’t fun if the toxicity is imbalanced (overpowered).
This means:
- my opponent is lower or higher rank from me.
- the toxic action is overpowered.
- the toxic manoeuvre can’t be done by my opponent in some form too.
I find it distasteful if my opponent is lower rank simply because they didn’t really stand a proper chance. Likewise a higher rank player doing stuff I don’t understand would suck. I think people in gaming who get joy out of this I’d consider to be sad.
I don’t like using anything imbalanced as it goes against fair play.
I don’t see actions like t-bagging as wrong if the player is equal skill to me, they’ll vs me in some other game and win plus maybe perform the action too and I’ll find it funny.
Bottom line:
I think the gaming community doesn’t necessarily distinguish what’s wrong with toxicity in general... it is a fun element of a game... what’s wrong to me are like what’s listed above which I don’t enjoy but find kinda sad/pathetic.
Thought I’d make this topic because I don’t think anyone’s ever made one like it. I think toxicity can be overall fun but within the right doses. There’s a good and bad form of toxic to me - there’s driving people to push when they have a chance and there’s being a douche when there wasn’t a chance. There’s flaws where you make misreads on the situation but yeah... You learn from those.
