Crossplay?
Is there any updates on whether or not we'll get crossplay, at least for consoles? The waiting time for survivors to get into a match takes so long, while killers get into one instantly. Also, my best friend has xbox while I have PlayStation. With me, and I'm sure a lot of other people, crossplay would be very beneficial. And I remember taking a survey through the dbd twitter about crossplay. So yeah, is there any idea on whether or not we'll get crossplay? Thank you.

You're indeed correct yes.
The idea of Cross-Play is currently on BHVRs mind yes, but we don't have any official responses on the topic yet. We do know that the concept is indeed on their minds, but it's unknown if something might change or when it will happen.
The same goes for Cross-Progression, we don't know yet. Also for context, the Xbox Game Pass is not a gateway to play with Steam players, a lot of people think it is but it isn't, there is no cross-play with console at this time. The only cross-play we have right now is between Steam and the Windows 10 version of DBD, that's it.

there was a post on reddit where someone on ps4 played against a legacy hillbilly, which is impossible since no one has legacy on ps4, the killer replied to the post saying that they were playing on pc and sent their pov, however they were confirmed to be hacking, nonetheless i guess crossplay is secretly in the game but not active or something i'm really not sure

Well, there was a PC hacker playing as legacy hillbilly who somehow managed to activate crossplay and play with PS4 survivors, its possible we are getting crossplay soon™.

That's still not anything official, it might of been possible but not from a legitimate stand-point. Hacked or leaked information should be taken with a grain of salt, it did happen yes but it doesn't mean anything is set in stone and who knows how unstable it is.

Thank you for the responses, I was just curious because one thing I really want would be for xbox and ps4 to at least have crossplay. I know one of the biggest debates with dbd and crossplay is crossplay between console and PC. Honestly, I would be happy with just xbox / ps4 crossplay, if it would make things easier. The waiting times are crazy for survivors.

I understand, it's indeed something that the community strongly wants as well, so i'm sure we'll hear more about it in the coming months.
At the moment though, we don't know the status on this, so it's entirely up for debate at the moment.

i honestly care more for the cross save then cross play. doing that will actually supply the dev's with more money then cross play would. I know dozens of people who would jump from PC to Console or Console to PC if they would not lose everything. All that it would require is the purchase of the base game and dlc again. Unless you purchased the dlc with auric cells.

Yes, that's the main reason why a lot of people want Cross-Progression, the other reason people want Cross-Play is to boost the player-base altogether and mix up the match-making a bit, while also playing with console friends and what not.
That's why BHVR keeps it in mind, but as said, we don't know how that concept is going.

A lot of benefits for both sides. Im sure BHVR has it on the radar if not already in progress. Realistically though they are not the best at release dates and coding so it could be some time before either of these are implemented. I think of any the cross save/progression might be the easiest because they already have player cloud ID's which since all player data is uploaded on the cloud for various reasons it should be possible to use the ID to port it to another device similar to a CnP format.

That's kind of why it's indeed an option, its not impossible since we have Cloud IDs like you said in the back-logs, so we should see something about it in the coming months.
Again, all we can do is speculate, we'll see what happens.

I agree with you about the upcoming months. After the last survey which asked about the desire for Cross Save/Play. They quickly implemented the Windows to Steam cross play. I feel those Surveys are more about determining the community's overall interest in such thing's then the overall if they want to or not. I feel they probably have had it in the work's similar to how the rift was asked about, but still thrown out despite the mass majority seemingly uninterested.
Either way we will see what happens. was fun chatting as always.
PS. would love to one day see the stat's of the first RIFT and each tome.

Right, maybe we'll see it come up again in another survey.
It was nice chatting with you as well, come back anytime if you have any questions or conversations to add.

I was wondering what that Cross-Play option was, in settings, if there was no cross-play with consoles. So it's cross-play between Windows 10 and Steam? I didn't know those were separate things.
0 -
They're indeed separate things yes, trust me, I was surprised a Windows 10 version existed as well... I didn't know it existed until the Cross-Play was announced.

I don't remember if I've told you about this before or not, so forgive me if I have, but if you're interested in completion stats for the first Rift, I should have some stats along those lines published within the next few weeks, based on a community survey with 1000+ respondents I conducted after the first Rift closed.

I've never been told, but I've been getting tired of the pointless arguments over someone not agreeing with anothers point of view.

Welcome to the forums! Opinions clash, so on and so forth. As long as people don't get nasty about it than it's fine to debate among each other.
Some people will disagree with each other and stand with their opinions, that's usually how some forum members act. Nobody wants to be wrong, I can't say I don't want to be wrong either with what I say. But sometimes, you'll be proven wrong and you'll just have to accept it... some will and others will not, it's how it is.

Nah I specifically meant the more toxic replies. Like people who just stop by when someone's asking for advice or help or if this works and most of the replies consist of the generic dark souls term "git gud"
I think me and you very rarely argue. I know we have been in a lot of the same threads though.

It depends on who you're talking to yeah, I've argued with a lot of older forum members (nothing toxic) about things we didn't agree on. I didn't harass them and neither did they to me, but we just didn't agree on a subject.
Me and Fibijean have done it before too, so, it just depends on who you talk to and who you're as a person... and the subject too of course. Also, I say "argue" but it was mostly just opinions clashing and not agreeing with each other, so we usually just end it off as "Agree to disagree" when we know we both have said all we needed to say.
Some will just keep going forever... but that's how some people are.
