Why do I have killer quests in my tome for killers I don't own?

This just seems unfair and a money grab.

I don't have the Spirit and I don't have shards for her.

How exactly are we supposed to do those missions?

And, if they are there because "some people own them" that's definitively unfair.

Also these Tome Quests make the game a toxic soup anyway and a grind fest.

Those Tome challenges are off to the side and do not have to be completed in order to reach the end of Tome Level 1, nor do they have to be completed to finish the Rift. It is only necessary to do those challenges if you want to unlock the Lore.

As Tragic said, they can be put off to the side and can be done at a later time when you unlock these characters. That's why the Killers and Survivors that were chosen can be bought with in-game currency, making it not a "money grab" since you can just normally play and than get the currency to purchase these Survivors/Killers once you have enough.

You can skip them too, they're not blocking the completion of the level, they're only blocking the 100% completion of that level for Tome ll. And again, these challenges are optional and used as a means to mix things up in-game, they're designed to get you out of your comfort zone for just a moment to see if you like the change or not. That, and they're just another objective you can do to have more to do in a sense.
