Did I misunderstand how new rank reset works? Or did something change?
The way I understood how rank reset now works, you now go from whatever color of rank you were before the reset to the highest rank of the previous number. So when the most recent rank reset happened, I was on the low end of rank 4. The way I understood rank reset to work, I should have been moved down to rank 5. However, when I opened my game for the first time since patch 3.5.0, I found myself down to rank 11. Is this:
a) A mistake on my part based on how rank reset actually works?
2) Me not realizing/knowing that they reverted the rank reset change at some point?
the third one) a bug?

It's a bug, you weren't supposed to be reset all the way back to 11 from 4, that isn't how it's supposed to work.

"Rank Reset: The Rank Reset will now reset players back one rank crest color. Players who end the season in Red Ranks (1-4) will be reset to Purple Ranks (5), Purple Ranks (5-8) get reset to Green Ranks (9), Green Ranks (9-12) get reset to Yellow Ranks (13) and finally Yellow (13-16) gets reset to the Brown Crest Ranks (17)."
So... what does this mean?
It means this is a bug because the quote specifically states that you will be reset back one rank crest color... not 2 like you were.
If you're in Red Ranks (1-4) you would've been reset back to Purple Ranks (5), so being reset all the way back to an uneven number in Green seems like a glitch, since the rank you got reset back to doesn't even follow the new format above in the quote.
Your options
- (1) You can report this in the Bug Report sub-forum so it's cataloged
- (2) You can report this to the support team to see if they can reset you back to Purple and not Green.
- (3) Or 3, you can do both of these options.
