Matchmaking (yes again)

TLDR: Can someone explain why I keep facing red rank survivors, all the time, when I'm only a green rank killer.

Hi all!

I understand that matchmaking is quite a common topic on the forums, and that a fix is on the way. I just had a few questions behind the matchmaking system itself.

I'm a rank 10 killer yet consistently I am versing red ranks. Not occasionally, but every game. I no longer see any of my own ranks but occasionally some purple ranks too. A lot of these red ranks are SWF, and its just so punishing to go against these groups where there is an incredibly large skill gap.

I would really appreciate if anyone would be able to go into detail about how the current matchmaking system allows me to always end up with these higher skilled players, so that I can try and decrease my chances of it happening?

I used to really enjoy playing killer however now I just automatically go to survivor because I want to play a game and not be stressed tf out for 15 minutes just trying to break even in a match.

Attached is an image of what happens pretty much every single game.

Thanks a lot,

MrYummy

I saw a post that had an image of the difference between killers above rank 10 and survivors above rank 5. Basically ranking puts survivors way ahead of where they should be atm and some recent issues have somehow skewed matchmaking.

The reason this happens is because there is currently a bug where sometimes the system receives incorrect rank information from the killer, causing them to be matched with survivors far outside their rank bracket. Basically, something got scrambled in the algorithm and the server mistook you for a red rank, so it matched you with red ranks.

I can't really go into more detail than that, or why it's happening to you so much, because that's all the information the devs have made public about it. However, they have said that there is a fix coming. Unfortunately, I don't think there's really anything you can do about it in the meantime as far as lessening your chances of having it happen to you goes.

Seems like this game is patched together using an assortment of intended bugs and unfortunate consequences.
