All Wraith's Teachables should be ONE PERK (Not Clickbait)
Wraith's perks are close to a meme right now, when someone asks you "what is the most useless Killer perk?" you think about Wraith immediately...
So Devs, I think its time to look at them:
(Please correct me if I am wrong about something or you have different opinion)
(The idea is at the bottom)
1.Perk analysis:
PREDATOR
It makes scratch marks spawn closer together
- Is it useful? Yes, it makes tracking surviviors Slightly easier.
- Does it have any downsides? Yes, it makes spotting scratch marks from longer range harder.
- Does it have any significant synergies? No, it does synergize with Bloodhound and makes tracking injured surviviors easier, but the synergy is neglible.
- Does it counter/punish any survivior perks/actions? No.
- Can it be countered by any survivior perks/actions? Yes, it is countered Considerably by Lightweight and Slightly by Fixated
- Is the effect worth a perk slot? No, the effect is weak, does not provide any significsnt advantage and has downsides
- Opinion: Weak, situational perk with downsides and bad synergies.
BLOODHOUND
It makes blood easier to see
- Is it useful? Yes, it makes tracking injured surviviors slightly easier.
- Does it have downsides? No.
- Does it have any significant synergies? Yes, it has synergy with Predator Perk (above), Slight synergy with Sloppy Butcher perk (more blood to be affected), Considerable synergy with Spirit's Phase Walk ability, (it makes tracking injured surviviors Slightly easier) and Slight synergy with Plague's Vile Purge ability (the perk can be used more frequently).
- Does it counter/punish any survivior perks/actions? Yes, it Very Slightly punishes surviviors for not healing.
- Can it be countered by any survivior actions/perks? Yes, it is countered Completely by No Mither perk and Completely by Healing
- Is the effect worth the perk slot? No, with an exception of Spirit, it does not provide any significant advantage and can be countered.
- Opinion: weak perk with weak synergies, does not provide any significant advantage, the only Killer that can get any value out of this perk is Spirit, but it is still not much.
SHADOWBORN
It makes Field of View bigger.
- Is the effect useful? Yes, it makes spotting surviviors slightly easier and makes your spatial awareness better.
- Does it have downsides? Yes, bigger FoV makes blinding with Flashlight item easier.
- Does it have any significant synergies? No, FoV changes do not stack, it has Slight synergy with Information perks (it makes information Slightly easier and faster to see)
- Does it punish/counter any survivior perks/actions? Yes, it can punish surviviors trying to hide outside killer's FoV
- Can it be punished/countered by any survivior actions/perks? Yes, it can be punished by Flashlight item.
- Is the effect worth the perk slot? Mostly No, just FoV change is not stong enough, sometimes it could be useful on killers that switch targets often and require spatial awareness.
- Opinion: fairly weak perk, can be useful in certain situations, but the use of this perk is very limited.
CONCLUSION: All Wraith's perks are fairly weak and can be useful only in rare cases.
2.My Solution:
My solution: Add 1 or even 2 MORE Wraith's Perks, merge 2 or even 3 of the Wraith's Perks into ONE.
- PREDATOR + BLOODHOUND. Both of these perks do not give any significant advantage, merging them together could make players at least consider this perk as a help in short range tracking. Synergy with Phase Walk would not be affected, as scratch marks cannot be seen during it.
- PREDATOR + BLOODHOUND +SHADOWBORN. FoV increase perk is not strong by itself, adding some additional effect is required for it to be considered useful (like Monitor and Abuse). Merging 3 perks into 1 might sound crazy, but both Predator and Bloodhound do not have any strong effects or synergies to be considered, I dare to say that even after merging these perks it would not become strong.
- PROBLEM WITH THIS SOLUTION: Predator perk has a downside, so merging the perks together could result in the new perk being worse than intended, so buffing Predator should be considered. My idea is that Predator should not make scratch marks spawn closer together, but it should add bonus scratch marks in the middle of the "path", but the scratch marks would not change their positions.

It could be cool if predator also made survivors footsteps louder. Sort of like stridor but slightly different.

I think predator would be ok if it brightened the trail and had the old effect where it's visible longer too. One of my favorite builds when I was new was sloppy, predator, bloodhound and shadowborn. Tracking the trail was a lot of fun, shadowborn used to make everything brighter on top of those perk effects. Usually theyd selfcare to full the second line of sight broke so I stopped running it as I hit higher ranks but I miss that blood tracking aspect

Nah. I love Bloodhound and Shadowborn. Just because they're not meta doesn't mean they need to be merged into one.

Yes, but if Wraith got 1 or even 2 more perks designed for him, it could make him more viable killer, and currently he is in a bad spot. Like I said, Wraith's perks can be useful, but most of the time its not worth wasting the Perk slot, this way you could get all 3 in one slot.

Shadowborn has a downside. Flashlights blind you 20% faster (I think) and your increased fov makes you easier to blind.

My change to predator would be it would instead make a second version of scratch marks that spawn along side the current ones.
These would have a wavy shape(Or entity "spider legs" shape) to them with a black center line with a pearl white outline to distinguish them.
These would disappear 2 seconds earlier then normal scratch mark but would have a near perfect path on where the survivor would have gone.

Thank you, fixed it.
Faster blinding does not apply anymore though (It was 50% faster blinding and 25/50/75% slower blind recovery.)

I'd just like a better fov at base for all killers and just make shadowborne and M&A fov effects go away and give them something else or just let M&A just keep the terror radius effect by itself cause thats the only reason to use it anyway.
I'm all for making wraith's perks better though combining some of the effects into one and just giving better effects would be nice since he's a free killer.

Personally I think those perks are ok, except Predator which should make scratchmarks more visibile since currently it makes following them harder on low settings.
