Does Strategic camping exist in this game.

For one of my game I had full 5 stack on my Huntress Lullaby and caught someone cleansing the hex totem. My gamer sense told me I should camp since the generator will not go since my Lullaby was full stack and I can reduce the number of survivor if they do not come. If they come I can start a new chase. Obviously, after the game I got a message "camper, looser go play fortnite." Since I did camp after all.

First, I agree camping in general is toxic and ruins survivor game, but beside that does strategic camping exists like my game or am I just sweaty killer main.

Yes, there is a time when the best option for the situation you are in is to stay near the hook. Just be aware that with the new scoring system it does hurt one of your emblems. But if you do it as the exception instead of the rule, it shouldn't hurt you too much.

My favorite is when I catch two people running toward the hook when I turn around. I've got 3 people not on gens, you've literally given me no reason to leave now. I'm going to make sure you're both injured at this point before I commit to chasing one or the other.

Sometimes. Say you are playing bubba and you get a hook and the gates are up and you had to hook them near that gate. There is no reason not to just sit there with your saw charged till the others leave, except to let that survivor and all the rest escape.

If you hook someone, leave and no one goes for that person and you come back when they are about to either go second state or die, why would you not camp them for like the next 5 seconds? I mean either someone comes and you can get them, or that person dies/loses one hook state so it's worth the 5 seconds because it saves you a lot of time later; and is their fault for leaving them so long.

Camping and tunneling within confines of intentional gameplay is fine, no matter the insults you will get from survivors post game.

An example of toxic tunneling is like, chasing someone, hooking them, proxy camping them till unhooked, waiting 20 seconds to down them or ignoring the person trying to take your aggro just to down and hook them again, and even if you get DS'D going right back to them and doing that until they die and you've lost so much gen time because of it. You are not playing the game at that point, you are losing intentionally just to ruin one specific person's time in the match.

Playing bubba and literally face camping your first hook right till death, the same thing, not really playing the game anymore at that point, that is toxic imo.

As long as you are genuinely just playing the game as intended, you should do whatever seems most effective at that time, if that most effective thing is somehow toxic then the devs can do something about it if that is true, until then just play.

its a video game man. Play however you want. If you think your decisions are going to play out the best in your current situation go for it without a doubt. Who cares what the opinions of others say. Most people are going to just worry about themselves.

I always think of strategic camping as like, patrolling around the hook if you know there are survivors around or waiting until the hooked survivor gets to second state before leaving the hook. Both can be the smart thing to do, but one is looked down upon more than the other for obvious reasons.

Of course there are situations where camping or patrolling is the best play.

The most obvious one is endgame when you know the gates are probably 99'd. Anyone who complains about that just has a poor understanding of the game or no regard for the killer role, in my opinion.

It's also worthwile to go back to a hook to secure struggle state or death if survivors wait too long to save. Many survivors get greedy on gens because killers are afraid of punishing the mistake. Get another hook state out of it. Don't let them have their cake and eat it too. If nothing else, you'll force a bad save and get a hook trade.

During the gen phase? No, maybe only if you know that there are 3 people going for the save, but its not camping then

After gates are open? Yes, you firce them to get off gates and save the guy. If they are dicks or are doing challenges they can just leabe.

I wouldn't worry about what they have to say post-game. Play how you want. There's no written rule to say a killer can't do certain things. Just play how you want to play, and enjoy the game on your terms, not theirs. If they don't like it, well, too bad :)

    • Camping once exit gates open - Makes sense
    • Camping with one survivor on hook and one gen left next to them that is 99% complete - makes sense
    • Getting your first hook in under a minute and resorting to camping before any gens are done - it is THIS that people hate. It shows that the killer has already decided how this game is going to pan out.

Over altruistic behavior rewards camping and perks like MYC amplify that.

If you can pressure 3 survivors by being near the hook, that's fantastic.

Especially if you hook them in a death zone or have a territorial killer like Trapper or Hag.

If you then manage to slug or hook a second survivor, all 4 need to go for a rescue or it is gg.

Congratulations, you snowballed of a single hook!
