Why we need old Ruin back.

My friend wanted me to post this they don't want to be known.


Alright, so first let me make this clear so that people don’t call me a baby killer main: I am a survivor main. I have over 400+ hours of playing as survivor and yes, I have had my fair share of going against the old Ruin. This ramble is about how I think old Ruin should be brought back.

Now, I understand that Ruin wasn’t “that fun” to play against. Yeah, it got annoying to see the red skill checks almost every other game and yeah, it got the best of teams sometimes. However, Ruin “not being fun to play against” or it being overused is NOT a valid excuse for it being nerfed into oblivion.

Survivors, do you understand that we have annoying perks as well? Self Care, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Object of Obsession (I guess if you use it correctly or if a SWF group runs it all together), Unbreakable...the list goes on, but I don’t want to keep listing stuff.

Not only are these perks EXTREMELY overused on the survivor end, the killers complain about them day and night as well (like seriously, when was the last time you saw a claudette that was p3 and DIDN’T carry Dead Hard or Self Care?)

Those perks seem to fit the requirements for a nerf according to the devs, but you don’t see them changing those perks anytime soon!

Not only this, but Ruin was kinda the only Anti-SWF perk save Discordance or Surveillance (and even THEN, the killer had to waste time messing with gens while more gens got done on the other end of the map.)

With old Ruin, survivors had to stop for a minute to search for something, which bought the killer time in this short game of cat and mouse. This was absolutely PRECIOUS to said killers since gens can be done with a snap of the fingers now.

Now, survivors, lets be honest: Unless you were playing with random people, how bad was Ruin REALLY? Most of the time a skilled player could just find the totem within the first 30 seconds of the match and have it broken instantly, rendering it completely useless for the rest of the match. Hell, some people get lucky enough to SPAWN IN FRONT OF IT, making the totem a wasted perk slot at this point. Also, if you REALLY felt the need to, you could have just gen tapped until you got through the gen.

If anything, Ruin was just a slight detour on the path to a fast victory UNLESS the totem was hidden well (and we all know totem spots are [BAD WORD] so...)

New Ruin is literally completely useless now (save it’s two combos with Discordance or Surveillance.) Who’s to say that a group of survivors can’t just bum rush the last generator while the killer furiously tries to push them away from it? The speed of regression just doesn’t matter at this point because survivors can just keep repeatedly doing little by little of the gen until it’s finished.

Anyways...I just think that killers need this perk back. I don’t care if I have to deal with it 24/7. Killers have to deal with The Meta from survivors as well. Take a moment and think about that, alright?

    We aren’t getting ruin back, we killlers just have to adapt or quit, i chose to adapt.

    How is self-care frustrating to play against? It’s not a bad perk but at least survivors are healing.
