Do you think Dbd will ever be a serious compatative game in the future?

Obviously in the current state of the game a total NO but if the majority of the issues are fixed then is it a maybe? I personally hope because Dbd has alot of interesting mechanics that can make games really nice and fun to watch. The devs always consider making the game more fun but I wonder if the devs ever thought about making the game compatative and srsly. Your thoughts?

Obviously if the game were to be made balanced and fair for both sides, killer and survivors, the game would become competitive. That is pretty much given to any and every popular online game.

Now, would that be good for the player base, I don't really think so. What makes dbd fun in my opinion is the fact that it doesn't try to be competitive, but instead it tries to make unique game mechanics that are fun rather than fair. By becoming competitive I believe the developers would need to change a lot about the game to a point where it no longer Would be the same core gameplay it is now. It could be better, not saying that could not be one outcome but the risk is great as bad changes to core gameplay could potentially lead to death of the player base and the game itself.

    Not with these devs. No.

With how the game has been going, no. The game is entirely RNG based, and any SWF group with good looping skills will outweight a killer with good pressure.

Did I mention that it's RNG BASED??????!!!!!! No competitive game should EVER be RNG based.

No, for it to be a competitive game it needs to be balanced around the top level. But because of how the game plays if you balance around the top level you will screw over the casuals. BHVR values the casual experience more than the elite experience and I have no faith they can walk the razor thin balancing act where they please everyone.

    No, I don't think so.

Maybe, if they would wake up, they would maybe fix all the bugs and the obvious op things, but... To be a competitive game, they need to deliever more.

Killers with unique abilities and so on. For a time dbd has gone this path, but at the moment they seem to bring every killer down to a m1 killer.

That's fine for the newbies, but it is boring for everyone else and with that, the place is not there, were a competitive scene could grow.

No. DbD had great potential but the devs decided to go down the path of a party game. What a waste.

Now, the focus is not only on the party game aspect, the focus is also on new survivors. Not killers in general, and not survivors who have been playing for a while. If it continues like this, I don't see this game still being a financial success in 4-5 years.

World of warcraft and Hearthstone are both RNG based and are both compatative.

No, way too many variables. Some maps are great for certain killers while others are not.

Although this keeps the game from ever being truly balanced, I think it helps to keep it from getting too repetitive/boring.

I don't mind that in one game I might get a 4k with no generators done and then in the very next game I won't kill anyone. I just try and have some fun and hopefully get 4 stacks of bbq.

Magic: The Gathering is Technically RNG based and still holds competitive tournaments.

Though sadly I can't see DbD or any asymmetrical game holding any legit tournaments due to how hard they are to balance with both sides having an equal power level.

No, not because of the devs or balance, because this game is casual and assymetrical, so you can't know if that surv is actually better than others or the killer since there is no coorelation between them (skill wise)

    Is the game Competative? Yes

Would it make it to a serious esport league? Doubtful.

    I hope not.

Imo too many people already take this game way too serious and don't allow any fun in their games, which is really sad.

I play for fun and sometimes stupid things happens in game, which can be super funny if people just let them happen (killer and survivor). Those matches are the best and they are already rare.

What people don't understand is that skill is required for this game, and there's a Meta to compensate for lack of skill. Even if it is RNG you can certainly bring things in your favor by simply being better than the killer or better than the survivors. And by bringing the best perks, items and add ons possible.

    Absolutely not.

It's inherently competitive in the "there's winners and losers, and someone winning might make someone lose" sort of way, but it's by no means the tournament-play sort of competitive.

Maybe with some sort of "Promod" like Confogl for L4D2? But otherwise no, at least not without sever restrictions on a lot of things in the rules.

I agree. It’s got good ground work to be a competitive game but it would need a lot of tweaks and balancing for both survivors, killers and maps to make matches a more even playing field.

No. Because if they do, I believe there will be no teams. Neither a way to communicate. They will have a list of pro survivors and killers and match them with other pros. None will know who is who to be fair

Well dont think compatative gaming is so serious that they dont have fun. I played high progress raiding top 20 in wow and we still had fun and were making jokes even while we were in a bossfight. And I still was playing one of the worst classes ingame.

Yes it will be. They will have to add competitive aspects to keep making money. As the game keeps getting bigger and bigger, in order to keep making money it will at some point look at esports as a way to continue making a large income and growth.

Card games are different, and wow is an mmo. When it comes to “horror” genre, if that’s what this game even is, it shouldn’t have all these RNG factors into play that can determine outcomes. For example Thompson house can spawn 3 safe pallet loops side by side by side. Literally can run the killer for 5 gems on one side of the map.

    Not by E-sports standards.

    But it's already pretty competitive.

    No

DBD 2 maybe, but this game is already in its decline, not dying or anything, but we cant expect competitive gameplay or any revolutionary gameplay changes anymore.
