Explain how to have fun on DbD these days.

I barely play now, so the taking a break and coming back doesn’t work.

I really enjoy the concept of this game and the actual experience when it’s fun. I just can’t wrap my head around how it’s remotely entertaining for more than a few games to most people.

As a survivor, it’s ridiculously simple to rank up, so much to the point that literal newbies get placed with expert players. When I play solo, I have maybe one strong teammate while the others are: farming hooks, trading hits with the killer, or just hiding. When I play with a friend or even a full squad, we unintentionally gen rush because it’s very simple to loop killers and too simple to knock out gens due to how spread apart they are. Most of the time, we (as red and Purples) get placed with Rank 11-14 Killers that are either fresh or smurfs because most have deranked for a more enjoyable game.

As a killer, I cannot even enjoy playing Bubba anymore. I used to actually rotate killers per game to keep myself going, but that’s impossible now because so many killers are limited with pressure and I’m constantly being placed on survivor friendly maps unless I put in an offering. To add to this, Survivors as I mentioned in my gameplay as a survivor, can easily finish 2-3 generators without even trying. By the time I catch and hook my first survivor, 2 gens are finished. If I step away from the hook, a 3rd gen is finished. This results in me having to camp the hook or the proximity to at least secure a kill. Most of my games are 1-2 kills now (playing a killer with limited pressure) with 3-4 coming as a direct result of too altruistic survivors or playing a killer like Freddy.

This isn’t even a complaint about Ruin because I rarely used it before the change. I’m just trying to figure out what’s wrong with the game all of the sudden because it used to be enjoyable. Now it is a literal mess.

How can I actually enjoy the game anymore?
