So i came back after a long while off (flashlight and pallets)
and i was disheartened to see that pallet breaking <-- flashlight is still very much a thing..
i mean when i play survivor, and ive started doing that a lot with a friend, i often get the idea that when i mess up, its my own fault. most of the situations, i feel like its fair. although with incompetent allies its almost impossible to win but i rarely feel like its frustrating.
And over all, on the other side, as a killer, i find that the game has a better flow now. maybe it doesnt and i just cant remember, but i feel like i run in to a few lesser pallet loops. im not actually sure.
anyway, what annoys me, and found infuriating back then and seemingly still do now, is the flashlighting while i break a pallet. I mean in certain situations i have to break the pallet if the loop is large enough that i cant mindgame my way out of it, but doing so also punishes me the next 5 years to blindness.
I get that its one of the few situations that a flashlight is useful at all, but i cant help but feel like this cheese (im gonna call it cheese, but i understand if you disagree) is still a thing. i would really like to see some changes to the flashlight, when someone does a pallet break. but i also understand that if you cant really blind a killer during a break, then what can you use the flashlight for at all? i dont have the answer, i just find the situation aggravating, specially if you run from one loop to be blinded, to the next. i mean im already looking down unable to see the sides. at least let me turn my head upwards or something to avoid it, but by doing so, i also cant see where he runs at all. sound, somewhat fair to me.
I dont know.
those were just the probably less wise words of a returned player. Dunno how you all feel about it.

Playing killer requires ears. Aquire some or suffer from losing your eyes.

i do use my ears, i even played with my headphones this afternoon. but im not a bat i cant echo locate people.

Blinding at a pallet break is much stupid, it's not as useful as it used to be, since survivors aren't super strong like before and instablinds have been nerfed. Maybe only blinding as the killer is stunned by the pallet might be decent.

At least they don't have a key or toolbox...if you really can't hear their flashlight click off just block the path to the safest tile they can reach.

Just run lightborn if you see more than 1 flashlight. Lightborn has given me so many free hits it's not even funny at this point.
You could always tell them to listen for survivor footsteps, but guess the one sound you can't hear whilst you're in a chase...

yea or something. that might be a decent idea.
But again, i cant really say if this is a problem i only just started playing again. i just know that i feel frustrated when this happens to me.
There are ways to avoid being flashlighted when pick up a dying person, but there isnt any way (unless you use perks) to avoid being flashlighted while breaking a pallet. the fact you cant defend against it, makes it a little weird.

Yea that bug is problematic...it's been in for a while too.

well of course i can hear them click the flashlight but whats that gotta help me? i still need to break the pallet, and i still get flashlighted when i do.
The longer i stand and watch to try and mind game him to make him use the flashlight because i trick him to think i break the pallet, the longer he's delaying me.

what bug?

Survivor chase music drowns out most sounds? Idk lol

Sound bug. It mostly only affects spirit and slugs though...but it also makes stridor useless and some footsteps silent. I don't experience it much myself but these are the types of things reported frequently.

dunno. i dont recall hearing a lot of footsteps, i usually hear groaning when they've already been hit once.
I think.

Blinding the killer while they break a pallet is probably the worst way to use a flashlight. Instead of using the time given to catch some distance from the killer, you often end up being tracked down due to audio clues such as breathing or footsteps. Good killers will actually do that - maybe not 100 % precisive, but often close enough.
Flashlights are more powerful being used to free teammates, during the vaulting animation of the killer, to start a moonwalk versus Hillbilly/Nurse or to impact your character's movement in general.
I wouldn't mind if they made it so you couldn't blind the killer during the pallet break animation, but I don't feel like that change is necessary atm.

Yes but if your plan is to distract the killer while the rest do gens, then its a very very solid strategy.

Well as I said, I think you'd do better if you actually just ran during the pallet break animation. You'll waste more of the killer's time like that. However, agree to disagree.
