Adapting to Ruin

As of update 3.5.0, Ruin has officially been reworked. What I would like to know is: Have you adapted to the Ruin change, do you still use it and if not, what killer and build do you use?

I've only used it on accident (forgot to take it off of a couple killers) and it seems alright. It's nice to know you don't have to decide whether to immediately start chasing the survivor, or kick the gen they were working on to make it degrade. It's worth using, but not as good as it used to be

I mostly take it off. I was using intervention on some of my killers before the rework so it's not that different for me. I pretty much always bring pgtw now. I want to try the ruin+surveillance build but I don't feel like double downing on a hex perk.

On a side note I like to mess around with DH. I was running that with intervention because if there is no notice I'm seeing survivors don't go out of their way to do totems. Unless they stumble upon it I can usually get 3 stacks and by then I can guard it. Now that ruin is ######### they suspect DH even less. It's kind of funny. Until the devs hear the survivors complain then they will get a notice about DH at 1 stack -.-

    Stop holding their hands devs!

I've adapted by playing other games while bhvr figures out if they want the game to be fun for killer not

Most killer players that relied too heavily on ruin won’t be able to adapt. The plus side is this ruin change will drive some red rank killers back to purple/green where they realistically should be based on their skill level. I think it’s wonderful personally as red ranks should only be for extremely skilled players, and right now it’s littered with not so good players on both sides.

Too bad when they are back in green/purple ranks they still have to play against the same red ranks

Ruin+surveillance is a really fun combo and I highly recommend at least trying it out. As a back up though, run pgtw just to be safe.

It's useful if you like to slug a lot and force people to get off gens to heal up. Although I don't like to run it it works decently on mobile killers like Billy, nurse and somewhat spirit

I've been running the ruin + surveillance combo on Wraith and Ghostface, it's actually a very good combo if you are good at juggling survivors and sneaking up on them, but I've had to change my playstyle when I play killer; I no longer try to hook every survivor 3 times, I focos on hooking two survivor and just injuring the other two unless they run into a dead zone.

I've also tried ruin + surveillance + discordance on Demogorgon; very helpful if you place your portals near the gens. The same build is also good for Spirit.

The only killer I play without ruin is Freddy, because his slowdown add ons + thana + pgtw + discordance are good enough for him in my opinion.

I’ve never used Ruin that much in the first place, so I’m having a hard time understanding the issue everyone else is having with the Ruin change. I tried out the new version on one of the newer maps(with hidden totem spots) and it was actually pretty helpful since it did one of my jobs for me at double speed. Sure, it’s not as strong as it used to be, but it has its place as a well-rounded slowdown perk.

People never should have let one perk hold their hands into Killer games anyway. If I, along with hundreds of other Killer players, can wipe the floor CLEAN with Survivors without Ruin, so can everyone else.

I used to use it for freddy & hag, but I've since shelved it. Bit the bullet and leveled plague to 30 last night. Also got CI on my first 2 bloodwebs as hag, so that was nice. I'm sure tier 3 will take another 10-15 webs or something.

I never really used ruin though I play casually. The issue people have with it is it only works on gens that are abandoned and doesnt force gens to take the full minute 20 like old ruin did since they can finish faster with greats. I did notice a dramatic rise in survivors doubling to tripling up on a gen with this change though. They usually double up on 1 maybe 2 or 3 depending on how the match goes for them then tackle them alone depending on who's still alive.

I dont own legion so I dont have discordance to see when they are doing it.
