The new MMR system should not be hidden but instead show letter tiers
The current ranking system goes from 20 - 1 and since it's frequently broken, it creates such disparities between survivors and killers and it's much more noticeable ( ie. rank 15 survivor paired with 20,2,4 ranks).
So if the new MMR system had tiers starting from D to S ( D, C, B, A, S), it will greatly reduce the difference in between the ranks, which is much better than having 20 ranks.
Knowing that MMR typically introduces a big number in terms of actual rank (ie. 1700, 2500, 5000), the letter tiers make it so that other players in the trial including you has an ambiguous rank but can show a more broad sense of skill.
So the way it could work is this.
D tier = 1000 MMR rank, C tier = 2000 MMR rank, B tier = 3000 MMR rank, A tier = 4000 MMR rank, S tier = 5000 MMR rank.
At the end of a trial, it would only show the Killer's and Survivors' LETTER tier (ie. if I had an MMR of 3230 then it would show me as B tier).
Now you could argue that people would still complain (A tier getting paired with C tier) but since there are fewer variables, the likelihood of that occurring would be slim.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't be opposed to this. I think it's a good compromise between all the arguments I've seen made for and against keeping the MMR hidden.

This is definitely a better idea than hiding it, but why don't they just show the damn mmr it's not a big deal at all. All games do this when it comes down to ranking systems, the devs just want to hide their poor game design

if you reveal tiers, ppl will be more inclined to "try hard"

Yes this is fine.
I would do anything to see the mmr values, this way it also prevents abuse of the system.
Doesnt matter if its "letter ranks", "emblem ranks" or whatever, just give use the approximate mmr values

The hidden skill ranking system is attempting to measure what the avg player does is my guess...
3 -
when ppl are aware they are being observed, their behavior is more inclined to change.

Yeah probably tbh

May be true, but they could just have done a test run without telling us and then show us the new mmr when its finished.
From what they said, thay dont want to ever show it to us

if the avg player knows what needs to be done to advance, it ruins the system in this case...

There is such a thing as overcomplification...

and what certain ppl consider skill, is not the same as what BHVR cinsiders as skill.

*considers...I'm going to be banned from the forums for quickly correcting my spelling/grammar lol....

If you know only approximate of your rank, then you can never judge for sure what tactic abuses the system. There are just too many variables. If you have the exact numbers then its certainly easier, thus the approximation.

when someone knows they are being observed, their behavior changes...just look at the challenges for the rift...

They will try to get better at game just like with ranks now (ranks are broken but you know what I mean). Its not really a bad thing
